The Pure Heart and Gracious Lips [podcast]
The connection between the heart and the mouth is key to understanding and to victory in your life with Christ.
“O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” Matthew 12:34
“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.” Psalms 19:14
Here’s a great prayer that flows from my lips every morning, and God answers it daily by His grace in Christ. Go for it…
“Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.” Psalm 141:3
More Scriptures to pray for our mouth:
“Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” Colossians 4:6
“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” Ephesians 4:29
“The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.” Isaiah 50:4
At times, silence speaks louder than words…
“He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. 28 Even a fool, when holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.” Proverbs 17:27-28
“Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.” Ecclesiastes 5:2
God is in the constant process, work, of purifying the hearts of His people. David, a man after the LORD’s heart, knew this truth and therefore cried out to God this way…. and so can we!
Prayerfully pour over Psalms 51.
Those not crying out to God for a clean, pure heart, are backslidden – not ready to meet Jesus – and in utter need of true repentance now, before it’s too late.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalms 139:23-24
“Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:” 1 Timothy 1:5
