“Them that look for him”

“So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” Hebrews 9:28

WHO will Jesus return for? – “Them that look for him”

Jesus is not coming back for everyone. He’s only coming back for “Them that look for him.”

Am I in love with Jesus? Or, am I just religious? Am I an authentic disciple of Jesus or a self-serving counterfeit?

HOW do we know if we are ready for the return of Jesus?

“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” 1 John 3:3

Reading the surrounding context ascertains that John is speaking of those who are ready for Jesus’ return. They have “this hope” in them – they are living in an abiding relationship with Jesus. They are looking for and ready to meet Jesus.

The people of God prove to be such by their perpetual purifying of themselves in light and in the sight of their Bridegroom to be. This is the grace-enabled purifying of ourselves in light of His soon return.

“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8

Why would the precious and holy LORD Jesus marry a dirty bride? He wouldn’t. He told us that He won’t.

The bride of Christ, the engaged and waiting bride to be, will not entertain the advances of others, will not flirt or adulterously consort with other suitors. She chooses daily to have a pure heart as she waits for her Bridegroom. She shall see God, she shall see the Great Bridegroom and be with Him in His eternal, palatial abode (John 14:1-6). She is singly focused and has repented and put away an adulterous heart (Matthew 5:8). She rejoices to be with her LORD in New Jerusalem (Ephesians 1:10; Revelation 21).

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.” 2 Peter 3:10-14

It’s only the members of the bride, the wise virgins, who are faithful to the end who will be married to Jesus the Bridegroom (Matthew 25:1-13).

Remember dear child of God, any and everything God commands us to do, He gives us the grace, the divine enablement to do – as we do it HIS way and no other (the cross).

What People is Jesus Returning for?

“Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:25-27

  • Those who “sanctify” themselves before Him
  • A people who “cleanse” themselves for Him
  • A people who bathe daily “with the washing of water by the word”
  • “a glorious church” – a people full of and emanating the glory of Christ (Matthew 5:16)
  • A people “not having spot” – no unconfessed sin (Hosea 14:1-2; 1 John 1:9)
  • A people without “wrinkle” in their garments “or any such thing”
  • A people who have chosen to “be holy and without blemish”

Why would the “Holy, holy, holy” Bridegroom of Heaven be seeking to procure to Himself in His eternal home, anything less than a pure and spotless bride? See Isaiah 6:3; Revelation 4:8.

Picture a man who has the choice between two ladies – the choice to marry just one of them. Is he going to choose the one who is keeping herself pure, who is waiting upon him, who has set herself apart to be his wife? She is cutting away all distractions from her ultimate goal of being with that man, refusing to flirt or consort with other men …. OR will he choose the other woman, who attends casually to him, who tries to fit him into her schedule which is cluttered with various frivolous activities, including going out with the girls, adulterously flirting and being available to other men? As he pictures his future, which of these two women assure his heart? Which of the two does this bridegroom  feel comforted and delighted seeing himself with? Which of the two women will he have a safe, clean future with – with clear conscience, no doubts of the integrity, the loyalty, the fidelity of that marriage? Mothers, which of these two women would you desire your son to marry?

Read the above Scripture passage again beloved of God. Notice how Jesus is returning to present “to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” After reading this, do we not see that no person who was in the past saved and yet has the spot of sin, will be shut out of Christ’s eternal kingdom? Isn’t this the same thing Jesus taught? This is exactly what we see concerning the five foolish virgins and how they were shut out of the Bridal chamber with the Great Bridegroom. Read Matthew 25:1-13. The bride to be is espoused (engaged) to Christ the Great Bridegroom. We are not yet married to Him and will not be till we are in glory with Him. Till then, we must overcome, to endure to the end (Matthew 10:22; 24:13; Revelation 2-3, etc.).

“Amen. This is so powerful! Thank you for expounding on this critical point. We, the Bride of Christ must be pure and holy as He is pure and holy. Nothing less will do!” Barbara Kuks

Many who claim they are saved have the spot of sin in their lives which is unfitting for any true child of God.

“He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. 5 They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation.” Deuteronomy 32:5-6

Purity and holiness are part and parcel with the true Heaven bound remnant of Christ’s elect.

“Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.” Psalms 93:5

The future belongs exclusively to Jesus Christ and His followers, His beloved bride. Read the book of Revelation!

Abiding Under the Shadow of the Almighty [podcast]

Lord, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke. 16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:  Jeremiah 15:15-16

Dwelling “in the secret place of the most High”

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2  I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Psalms 91:1-2

“In the secret place of the Most High – Spoken probably in reference to the Holy of holies. He who enters legitimately there shall be covered with the cloud of God’s glory – the protection of the all-sufficient God. This was the privilege of the high priest only, under the law: but under the new covenant all believers in Christ have boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus; and those who thus enter are safe from every evil.” Adam Clarke

“[Psalms] 91:1, 2 Jesus is the One who in a preeminent way dwelt in the secret place of the Most High, and abode under the shadow of the Almighty. There never was a life like His. He lived in absolute, unbroken fellowship with God, His Father. He never acted in self-will but did only those things that the Father directed. Though He was perfect God, He was also perfect Man, and He lived His life on earth in utter and complete dependence on God. Without equivocation He could look up and say, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in Him I will trust.” Believer’s Bible Commentary

Attend to My Words [podcast]

IF THE WORD isn’t flowing into you daily, you are falling away. Flood and fuel your heart and mind and body with the pure, the holy light of God’s Word daily and you will never famish! All darkness will be vanquished (Psalms 119:130). All who have been saved and yet aren’t in God’s Word and prayer daily – have rejected Christ, with no exception. Re-turn to the LORD prodigal. There’s no good outside of Christ the KING.

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” Psalms 119:130

ALL who are not in God’s written Word daily are not hearing from God, do not have God’s wisdom and direction, and are walking in darkness – 100%.

The feeding of Christ’s flock would integrally involve exhorting them to diligently study and walk in God’s Word themselves, daily (John 21:15-17). Isn’t this exactly what the apostle Paul told Timothy to do? Yes. He told his understudy to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

One of the ways we know who the false ministers are, is that they want people dependent on THEM, not God. So, they don’t constantly exhort the people to get into God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures, for themselves. Run.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8

“He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. … My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. 23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:4, 20-23

“Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16

“Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” Job 23:12

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16

“Over the last 5-10 years I can see where He has done this for me already, but the problem is …. it’s not enough! I want even more! One hour of study and prayer in the morning is not enough!” Christine
