Emulating Epaphras!

LIFE CHANGER! Who are those top 3-5 people you pray for every morning? (rhetorical question) Okay, ever wonder how to pray for someone? You will never again have that wonder after your grab this 1 Bible verse!

All who are learning to love God are then equally learning to love people – to love others and put them above ourselves (Philippians 2:3-5).

Why not assertively, proactively have a list of people you are lifting in prayer every morning? Isn’t that what we can learn from brother Epap? WHO? WHAT? … Let us learn from the life of Epaphras.

An enlightened prayer life requires the illumination of the Word of our God. Watch this:

“Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.” Colossians 4:12

Gospel Key: Wondering how to pray for someone? Wonder no more! God told you exactly how to pray! Read the Bible verse above again and grab that last line in particular! BAM

GAME CHANGER! WHAT’s your prayer list looking like? Someone may say “But brother WHAT do I pray for the people on my prayer list?” GREAT QUESTION and don’t you know GOD has that answer! Boom. Excuse me while I get super excited about this divine nugget of HIS truth! (3 John 4)

Notice this as we widen the lense a bit by taking a look at the words following our main verse:

“Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. 13 For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.” Colossians 4:12-13

Notice how this beloved brother Epaphras cared deeply for and was concerned and praying for those of Christ’s saints in Colosse and also the surrounding towns – “for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.”

What an example of Christlikeness! Epaphras interceded for the saints just like Jesus did in redemption and does now in intercession for those He died to save (Heb. 7:24-25). This man’s life was given over to the LORD and the power of the Holy Ghost was elevating him to bring God glory by blessing His beloved saints. Though Epaphras’ name appears only 3 times in the New Testament canon, His impact is great.

Notice that Epaphras was “one of you.” In other words, Epaphras was not an apostle or prophet but a simple saint of God, purchased by the blood of Christ. He served. He prayed. He interceded on behalf of Christ and His people. What a servant Epaphras was! What a Savior Jesus is!

Epaphras’ love for God and His people was profound. He labored deliberately, fervently, diligently, and perpetually in prayer communion with God for the saints. Epaphras was possessed or infused with the divine desire to see His beloved people for whom Christ bled brought to holiness and maturity.

“We are Epaphras to one another. Colossians 4:12.” Stephen Michels

ARE you praying for members of Christ’s body? Never think this to be a menial task. Oh no. Nothing could be more important than carrying one of God’s children to Him in prayer. Beloved of God, you are an Epaphras to Christ’s body, praying vigilantly and tirelessly that they will “stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.” (Colossians 4:12)

“GOD is our sustaining force via prayer.

The Holy Spirit praying for us from within,

Jesus, our risen Savior and High Priest praying for us at the right hand of God, Brothers and sisters in Christ praying for us on this earth, and us praying for believers everywhere, even those we’ve never met. Ephesians 6:18

Each member of Christ’s body should be assured of the constant prayer of other believers as well as lifting up in prayer other believers themselves.” Debbie Lord

WHEN we obey God by praying for other of His saints, we are walking in the mind of Christ as we esteem others better than ourselves (Philippians 2:3-5).

Like Epaphras, perhaps we should consider obeying the LORD in lifting up our brethren in prayer to the Father through Christ, the Great Intercessor, and spend less time judging them in our minds, hearts, and words.

What Epaphras did“always labouring fervently for you in prayers”

What Epaphras desired of the LORD: “that ye (the brethren) may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God”

The LORD desires to “perfect and complete” His saints “in all the will of God.” Those who follow Christ closely desire what He desires – that His saints grow in grace and truth and are standing perfect (sinless, victorious, and maturing) in His sight. Does not the Word inform us that Jesus Christ perpetually intercedes for His own at His Father’s right hand? Is this your desire? Do you align with Jesus by praying for His children that they might be perfected and completed in relationship with Him?

Epaphras entrenched himself in prayer and interceded for the saints in his locale and day. Will you do the same? If not, who will? Epaphras answered the call of God to intercede for those of his day. He died to the self-life that he might please God by lifting His people to Him in prayer. What if Epaphras had not interceded for those believers in his day? As concerning this calling to intercede, will Jesus one day welcome you with “Well done my good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the LORD”? (Matt. 25)

“…always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.” Colossians 4:12

Saints, let us never leave our prayer closets until we have lifted God’s people in prayer – individuals and the entire body of Christ in general.

Do you have specific people you lift in prayer each morning?

“Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:” 1 Samuel 12:23

WHEN you ask someone to “pray for me”, you are asking them to bring you before the Almighty! Get ready!

Ready to be like the example the beloved Epaphras gave us? Ever wonder what to pray? Can you think of just 3 people God has put around you to pray for?

Ever run out of things to pray? Not anymore! God’s Word is God’s will so we pray God’s Word for God’s people.

“Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:” 1 Samuel 12:23

Prayerlessness is sin!

Every day God grants us the privilege to pray for His saints which gets our minds off of ourselves. This is one of the many benefits of developing a sincere and diligent life of prayer. It’s not hard – Just do it.

As you pray daily in your private prayer closet and throughout your day, feel free to try this prayer if you are so led beloved:

“Holy Father, in Jesus’ holy name and by the power of His precious blood that speaks in Heaven for Your Church, bless _________________ to stand perfect and complete in the whole will of God, conforming their life to the image of Your Son. Thank You that You are continuing that good work You began in ____________________ and perfecting that which concerns their life until the day of the LORD Jesus Christ’s soon return. Amen.

YOUR PRAYER: Holy Father, bless me to love Your people. Please forgive my sin of prayerlessness and for judging Your people in my heart and mind – when I should have been praying for them. Help me to do what You came to do Jesus, to save and not condemn. LORD, I decide now to begin a whole new walk – one of continual intercession for Your beloved saints that they might stand perfect and complete in Your sight, in Your perfect will. I love You Jesus and thank You for loving, finding, and forgiving all my sin and I look eagerly for Your soon return as I trust You and fervently prepare and pray for others of Your children to be ready when You soon return. In Jesus’ name, amen.

LISTEN: Prayer Mission of Epaphras Podcast

When you feel you aren’t doing anything or want something more to do for Jesus, pray. Lift His people in prayer (Colossians 4:12). Epaphras labored in prayer for the saints and this is what God’s wants you to do.

Inspire your prayer life here.

Epaphras’ name is listed 3 times in the New Testament. Apparently, from the last one, we see he may have been in prison with the apostle Paul.

“As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;” Colossians 1:7

Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.” Colossians 4:12

“There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus;” Philemon 1:23

Christ Saved Katherine! Mexico Mission Part 27

UPDATE: Thank you for your praying for fruitfulness in the work of our LORD. The new ministry laptop is in and is mostly set up. Your prayers and support are vital as “WE are labourers TOGETHER with God.” (1 Corinthians 3:9)

WE the body of Christ, are a separate entity from the world (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). We are here on earth for but a short bit time more – saved and sent to do Christ’s Great Commission (Matthew 9:35-38; 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-20; John 4:34-38). Jesus foretold that these final days before His return would be tumultuous. And to “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” (John 14:1)

Upon being exhorted and reminded that when Jesus saved him, he was deciding to die and let Jesus live and reign in his life ….. then he was reminded of the symbolism and significance of his water baptism – death, burial, resurrection (Romans 6). To this our brother Justin replied:

“I will never forget my baptism. I do try to be humbled daily, and life gives endless opportunities. I am having plenty here, but feel the presence of God, very subtle, guiding me to change my ways and my sense of control.” Justin

Your prayer for brother Justin to “stand perfect and complete in all the will of God” will be heard and answered by our LORD (Colossians 4:12).

Communicating The Gospel in Spanish

EACH WEEK a strong, loving message from the Word of God is sent out to to dozens of beloved souls here in Mexico via text. I have connected in person with each one of them, ministering God’s Word to each soul. Some are saved, some not. Just sent a message out tonight and am receiving responses as usual, including this one below from a beloved man name Julio who is not yet saved. Please lift him in prayer.

“I am interested in knowing God and reading the Bible.” Julio

This is VERY common here. I just texted Julio the Born Again book PDF. Boom.

If you want your life to count for the LORD, to the highest degree of glory and fruitfulness to Jesus, you may wish to stop your life today and ask the LORD to prepare and place you where it best eternally glorifies Him (John 15).

Take a look at the exciting Mission Mexico posts here

Christ saved Katherine today. Interestingly, I pulled over to help another older lady and she didn’t want help …. she was kind about it but when asked did not want me to buy her lunch. I had tracked her down from behind after parking the vehicle. On the way back is when 2 women were ministered to, Katherine being the last. God orders the steps of His children right (Psalms 37:23). This was one of those God things for sure….. Beloved Katherine was nearby and heard another dear woman being ministered to and as we parted Katherine told us both joyfully that “we need to talk about the LORD more for sure.” A conversation ensued and Katherine, who mentally ascented to Jesus and said she loved Him….. stopped her life today and repented and received Jesus for the first time. When asked if she’d go to Heaven or hell today if she died, it was obvious that she’dd never yet been saved and so the Gospel was explained to her (1 John 5:10-13, etc.) and she agreed to pray to God in repentance and receive Jesus and so we did and it was thorough and sincere. This beloved woman was elated to now know she is Christ’s – saved and forgiven. Love, joy, and peace was showing on her face. Thank you for lifting up our new sister in Christ in prayer (Colossians 4:12 right!). Katherine already has the Born Again and Moments with Our Spanish devotional books as of today and we are going to talk again on Thursday! Oh and beloved Katherine also received a nice home grown delicious Mexican lunch, cold water, and some money….. as well as others God blessed in the same way today…. due to your prayer and support. To put it lightly, it was clear and she knows that GOD Himself visited her life today….. as we see Jesus encountering and blessing many in the Gospels as our King came upon them!

Mission Mexico

Here’s a video I took of the street and restaurant where Katherine was ministered to.

Beloved Carmen received ministry and some money. She was beside herself at receiving this blessed help that you made possible.

Elias is on the verge of being saved. When we met he asked my named and desired more and deeper conversation. So he received the Word in spoken and print formats and via text messages ever since. He’s also being ministered to by Vicente who is an astute disciple of Jesus…….
as in most cases, he’s received the ministry books in Spanish in pdf format…. I send them the Born Again book first then the other 3 that are in Spanish thus far.

Thank you for lifing brother Justin in prayer. He is now in Japan. Yesterday he sent this:

“In Jesus’ name, Amen. Reading John again at the moment. It’s always pruning season, brother, and a fool like me has so many ideas and self concerns to be pruned. God is great. Much love brother. You have a blessed week, too!” Justin

God is able!
Are we willing?
“WE (plural) are labourers TOGETHER with God.” 1 Corinthians 3:9

Thank you for praying for the precious people of beautiful Mexico.

“Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.” Psalms 2:8

The Book of Titus Overview [podcast]

“Loved this podcast. Thank you. One word that stuck out to me was pattern! Titus 2:7. I missed that word in that verse. The Holy Spirit is aways teaching us. Since this word was new to me I went to King James Dictionary: ‘Anything cut of formed into shape of something to be made after it. Pattern to imitate or follow.’ I think I now understand. Let Him shape and mold you. Pattern your life after Christ. Jesus was our perfect pattern!” Karen Cochran

“Though the Old Testament never directly mentions Crete (shown in inset), this island had a significant impact on the history of Israel. Crete was home to the ancient city of Knossos and the great Minoan civilization, the first advanced society in Europe, which flourished from before the time of Abraham until around the time of Moses. As this civilization declined, many people from Crete and mainland Greece began to migrate in vast numbers to new lands further east, including Israel. This is likely how the Philistines came to inhabit the Mediterranean coast of southern Israel. In the centuries that followed, various world powers gained control over Crete until finally it came under the rule of Rome, which grouped it together with the area around Cyrene on the North African coast to form a single province. (Cyrene was the home of a man named Simon, who carried Jesus’ cross for him after Jesus was no longer able to carry it.) As Paul was on his way to stand trial in Rome (Acts 27), he sailed along the southern coast of Crete, and there the captain lost control of the ship in a storm while attempting to reach safe harbor at Phoenix. The sailors became terrified that they would run aground on the sandbars of Syrtis, but instead they were driven by the storm to the island of Malta much further west, and the crew was saved.”

Abraham was born around 2166 BC

Moses – between 1391–1271 BCE.

Acts 27 and the Journey to Rome:

“The Apostle Paul was shipwrecked on Crete while on his way to Rome. His ship took shelter at a harbor on the southern coast called Fair Havens, near the city of Lasea.”

Of the book of Titus, one source notes the following:

“The Book of Titus is a letter from Apostle Paul to his protégé Titus, who was tasked with establishing order and appointing leaders in the churches on the island of Crete. The letter contains guidance on selecting qualified elders, combating false teachings, and instructing believers to live godly, grace-empowered lives that demonstrate the gospel’s transforming power through good works and upright conduct.”

The Holy Ghost led Paul to set up God-fearing “elders in every city” to rebuke and to stop the deceivers and their lies and to establish the truth “sound doctrine.”

“For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: … 9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. 10  For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: 11  Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.” Titus 1:5,9-10

To the “young men” and every disciple of Jesus (Titus 2:6).

“In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, 8  Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.” Titus 2:7-8

“Good works” or “Good work” appear 6 times in Titus.

“They profess that they know God; but in WORKS they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every GOOD WORK reprobate.” Titus 1:16

“In all things shewing thyself a pattern of GOOD WORKS: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity.” Titus 2:7

“Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of GOOD WORKS.” Titus 2:14

This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain GOOD WORKS. These things are good and profitable unto men.” Titus 3:8

“And let ours also learn to maintain GOOD WORKS for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.” Titus 3:14

Loving not our Lives unto the Death [podcast]

Just WHAT do we need to “remember” about “Lot’s wife”? (Luke 17:32)

Death

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” Revelation 12:11

Will you finish with joy?

“But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24

IN previous generations, young men and women gave up their whole life of luxury in America to go to a foreign land to preach the Gospel of Christ. Today we have a generation of professing “Christians” who won’t so much as give up a penny to support the preaching of the Gospel of the glorious Savior they claim to be saved by.

Remember how our LORD Jesus taught that those who love and therefore are obedient to Him, will hear Him welcome them into glory with “Well done … enter thou into the joy of thy lord”? Those who are truly known of God prove their love for Him by the way they steward the resources He gave them. Loving not our Lives unto the Death.

Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Matthew 25:21

Paul counted, considered, viewed everything he’d gained in this world to be but “dung” in comparison to Christ, then said:

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

Luke 17:28-33

28  Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29  But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30  Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
31  In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
32  Remember Lot’s wife.
33  Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

Attention Eternal Security Adherents

The fact that your unrepentant heart wants something to be true, does not make it true.

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Proverbs 14:12

It simply doesn’t matter how seriously and sincerely you are in believing the fairytale myth of “eternal security” or “once saved always saved” … you are dead wrong and so are the demonic wolves who taught this heresy to you. Repent, deny yourself, take up your cross daily, and follow Jesus for real! (Luke 9:23-24)
