Sins that Damn the Soul [podcast]
The Sins that God Cites, Defines, and that Damn the Soul
How Does God Specifically Define Sin?
God is Holy and this is how HE specifically defines sin and so there will be no excuse. YOU are wholly responsible. When’s the last time your “pastor” preached on this from the BIBLE? Oh, I guess he’s too busy entertaining counterfeits/goats.
Keep in mind that Jesus and His holy apostles prescribed the daily cross, the crucified life for overcoming sin – and there is no shortcut. Read Romans 6 each morning, prayerfully.
In knowing and loving God, should we not desire to keep everything out of our lives which would interfere with that relationship?
“The early Christians were intensely Christ centered. Jesus Christ was their pulse beat. He was their life, their breath, and their central point of reference. He was the object of their worship, and the subject of their songs, and the content of their discussions and vocabulary. The New Testament church made the Lord Jesus Christ central and supreme in all things.” Pagan Christianity
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” John 17:3
“These early believers loved Jesus with their whole heart. He was the central focus of their lives! Unlike the churches today who are centered on self. And Jesus is no where to be found. He stands at the door and knocks but they won’t let Him in.” Karen Cochran
17 Soul-Damning Sins Named
Because of His abundant mercy, lists of specific sins that provoke the LORD to anger are listed in Holy Writ. This is to warn men and bless them to escape His sure judgment to come on those who walk in such rebellion. Let’s observe a brief definition of the 17 manifestations of the sinful nature listed here in Galatians 5:19-21—a much neglected text:
“Adultery”—looking on another to lust (in person or via technology); unlawful relations involving a married person. Adultery is defined in Scripture as any sex involving the heart and/or body that is outside of holy matrimony where God designed it to be enjoyed between one man and one woman (Matthew 5:28; Hebrews 13:4).
“Fornication”—every, and all forms of illicit sexual activity, whether in thought or deed. Any sexual activity outside of holy matrimony.
“Uncleanness”—anything opposite of purity; all forms of sexual impurity.
“Lasciviousness”—licentiousness, lust, lewdness, lack of chastity. Anything promoting or inciting sexual lust; lack of restraint.
“Idolatry”—image worship. This includes anything other than the LORD upon which the affections are passionately set.
“Witchcraft”—sorcery. The practice of dealing with evil spirits, magical incantations, casting spells or charms by
means of drugs or potions to inflict harm on another. Witchcraft includes the evil manipulation or control of others by any means.
“Hatred”—enmity, bitter dislike, malice, abhorrence; tendency to hold grudges against or be angry with another.
“Variance”—discord, dissentions, quarrelling, debating and disputes (always having to disagree, based on pride).
“Emulations”—striving to excel at the expense of another person; seeking to surpass or outdo another.
“Wrath”—rage; determined enduring anger; fierce indignation with turbulent passions.
“Strife”—disputations, strife about words, angry contentions; vindictive endeavor to repay another evil for evil.
“Seditions”—parties, factions; stirring up strife among people.
“Heresies”—the rejection of truth for fallacy; departure from divinely revealed truth.
“Envyings”—ill will toward another’s good fortune.
“Murders”—to kill or mar the happiness of another.
“Drunkenness”—intoxication from the overuse of alcohol.
“Revellings”—rioting; lascivious and boisterous feastings including obscene music and other sinful activities; carousing.
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21
ANY “MINISTER” NOT CALLING OUT SIN FOR WHAT GOD CALLS IT – SIN – IS 100% A VILE WOLF. Those who patronize, bid Godspeed to such frauds, are going to hell with them (2 John 10-11).
“That REPENTANCE and remission of sins should be PREACHED.” Luke 24:47
“Except ye REPENT ye shall all likewise perish.” Luke 13:3
The cross life crucifies, runs roughshod over the “old man” which is “put off” by the cross and so that the “new man” is “put on,” manifests, rises above, which is the resurrection life of Christ in His crucified and buried saints (2 Corinthians 4:10-12).
“…new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
“But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Ephesians 4:20-24
Beware of those who Seem to Specialize in Making Excuse for Sin
AFTER STATING SIMPLY AND BRIEFLY THAT SODOMY IS SIN, AN “ABOMINATION” TO GOD (Leviticus 18:22)…. THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE WAS RECEIVED:
“God also said he who is without sin shall cast the first stone, it’s funny how so many Christian’s forget their own sins, forget their own indiscretions but want to condemn homosexuals with insane fury. Jesus befriended a prostitute, he would defend and befriend a gay man or woman as well, you need to practice humility brother.”
REPLY:
You are minimalizing here and making excuse for the sin Jesus died to take and keep out of the lives of His people (1 Colossians 6:19-20; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Titus 2:11-14; Revelation 19:7-10, etc.). ONLY the truth makes men free (John 8:31-32). Did or did not GOD say that sodomy is sin, an “abomination”? See Leviticus 18:22. Yes or no? …. The second error you make: Telling the truth is not being prideful. It’s a divine command. “Preach the Word” is a divine command (2 Timothy 4:2). “He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness” (Proverbs 12:17). Here you are condemning someone else against what God’s Word says….while simultaneously claiming I am being condemning. Imagine the hypocrisy. Read that again. Matthew 7:1-5.
All of those Jesus saves are 100% personally accountable to Him. Moral cowards, “the fearful” (Revelation 21:8), make excuse for sin instead of rendering fresh repentance and confessing all sin (Proverbs 28:13).
“Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth. 13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.” Ezekiel 33:12-13
“Oh yes! Love those verses. Matt 5:8. As I was praying for the Lord to purify my heart. I realized we who have a pure heart will see God’s face And be in His in His presence forever! Revelation 22:4-5. We will see His face! And reign with “Him for ever and ever”! This promise is only for the faithful who have been washed, cleansed, purified and made holy by Jesus. We shall have perfect communion with Him. Hallelujah. Matt 5:8 is a powerful scripture on those who will see God. The Beatitudes are really about the cross! Living them is embracing the cross.” Karen Cochran
PRAYER: Holy Father, I have sinned against You. Here and now I return to You, I turn afresh to You, asking You to forgive all my sins – including pride, self-idolatry, spiritual adultery, unbelief, and witchcraft. Please wash all my sins away in the precious blood of Jesus, right now Father. Please multiply Your grace to my heart and life. Fill me with Your Holy Ghost and use me Jesus – especially in light of Your soon return. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
