“Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” Romans 5:9

Wait, “we shall be saved from wrath through him” ….. and “justified by” what? Read that again.

All men have sinned against God who is “Holy, holy, holy” and yet divine justice was perfectly satisfied, fulfilled in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ (Isaiah 6:3; Revelation 4:8).

“Ransom” means redemption price. Jesus’ blood, shed on that cross, was the redemption price necessary to buy us back to God from sin. Christ’s blood alone satisfied the claims of the Father’s justice to redeem, to buy back fallen mankind to Himself.

“For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom (redemptive price) for all, to be testified in due time.” 1 Timothy 2:5-6

Christ gave Himself freely as the “ransom” or the redemption price for mankind, for “whosever will” to be forgiven and saved into God’s eternal family.

In other words, the claims of the Father’s justice to redeem (buy back) fallen mankind was the precious blood of Jesus Christ His only begotten Son. Jesus Christ is exclusive and unique in all of HIS-story.

There is only “one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”

There is only One who stands between fallen men and a holy God – Jesus Christ.

“1 Timothy 2:6
Who gave himself a ransom – The word λυτρον signifies a ransom paid for the redemption of a captive; and αντιλυτρον, the word used here, and applied to the death of Christ, signifies that ransom which consists in the exchange of one person for another, or the redemption of life by life; … ‘He who by his death has redeemed all from the power and punishment of vice, from the slavery and misery of sinners.’ As God is the God and father of all, (for there is but one God, 1Ti_2:5), and Jesus Christ the mediator of all, so he gave himself a ransom for all; i.e., for all that God made, consequently for every human soul; unless we could suppose that there are human souls of which God is not the Creator; for the argument of the apostle is plainly this:

1. There is one God;
2. This God is the Creator of all;
3. He has made a revelation of his kindness to all;
4. He will have all men to be saved, and come unto the knowledge of the truth; and
5. He has provided a mediator for all, who has given himself a ransom for all. As surely as God has created all men, so surely has Jesus Christ died for all men. This is a truth which the nature and revelation of God unequivocally proclaim.” Adam Clarke

Jesus came and died to give us a personal relationship with Himself and the Father. That’s why He came (John 17:3). Jesus did not come to tell you to join or follow any religion.

God is accessed not through religion but directly and for relationship.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” 1 Peter 1:18-19

The Condition of Appropriation

After the sin and fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden, lost and fallen mankind was separated from God who is “Holy, holy, holy” (Isaiah 6:3; 59:2; Revelation 4:8). No one qualified to redeem (buy back) His fallen people, race, except Christ. The uniqueness of Jesus Christ is divinely premiered throughout Holy Writ.

“And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” Ezekiel 22:30

No one else, ever, could do what He did.

“Justified Freely by His Grace”

“Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” Romans 3:24-26

Those truly in Christ are “justified freely by his grace” and yet such is not without divinely imposed condition. He gave man free will which He never withdraws, and His blessings are conditional (Deuteronomy 30:1, 19). Although He desires to save all, God doesn’t grant His blessings of salvation to just everyone, but to those who respond in repentance and faith, embracing His invitation to follow Him.

Prayer: Father, I know and embrace that You are Holy and that You require, expect me to be holy in oneness with You. Please imbue my inner man with Your holy fear, hastening me to obey You out of true love for You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

“A Faithful Man shall Abound with Blessings” [podcast]

Do you desire to abound in the blessings of God?

Jesus our LORD taught that as we are faithful with what the LORD has already given us, then, and only then, will He multiply it.

ASK YOURSELF: Are you faithful to abide, to obey Him by obeying His Word? If so, Jesus and the Father are dwelling richly with you and will multiply you according to your proper, wise, faithful stewardship of what is already in your possession – which is from Him. See John 14:21-23.

“A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.” Proverbs 28:20

God is not going to add to or multiply His supply and blessings to anyone who is sitting around, doing the church attendance thing, and not doing His biblically stated will – of loving, tending to, giving to, serving, and blessing others (Matthew 22:37-39). Every true disciple is a doer of the WORD (James 1:22; 1 John 2:3-6, etc.). A true disciple is not known merely by being a church attender, which any old dead fish counterfeit can be. No, the true servant of Christ is known by his supreme love for, and faithful obedience to Christ his King, his “first love” (Revelation 2:4-5).

Every good gift and blessing is from God (James 1:17). We take from what He’s given us and we share it with others – whether that be supply, or spiritual blessings in Christ, or material blessings.

“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. ⁷Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. ⁸And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: ⁹(as it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. ¹⁰Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) ¹¹being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-11

ARE GOD’S BLESSINGS CONDITIONAL? Yes they are. Here’s but one example of how God’s people forfeited His blessings due to living life on their own terms instead of complying with His.
