What did the LORD reveal of Himself to Isaiah? What was the result in Isaiah’s life and ours?

When the LORD appeared to him, the prophet Isaiah was shown his own depravity, his own wicked heart, his own unpreparedness. What was his response and how does this relate to us?

Are you ready this day to say “Jesus please prepare and use me mightily for Your eternal glory! I love You LORD. I am all Yours! Please do Your deeper work in this life You gave!”?

One must be prepared by God to be used by God.

“If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” 2 Timothy 2:21

To the degree that we allow God to prepare us, to that degree shall He powerfully use us. The cross. The only way up is down beloved.

Is today your day to surrender afresh? John 3:30, Colossians 3:3 anyone?

Prepared by God to be Used of God (category)

God visits Isaiah

If we’re not talking about the holiness of the one true God – that He is “Holy, holy, holy” – what false god are we speaking of?

Isaiah 6

Isaiah’s Calling/Vision of the Lord

1  In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

2  Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

3  And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

4  And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

5  Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

6  Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

7  And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Isaiah’s Commission from the Lord

8  Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

9  And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

10  Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.

11  Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,

12  And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.

13  But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.

“One glimpse at the glory and holiness of God would cause us all to fall down on our faces in utter horror at our vile, wretched, sinful and selves. And cry out as Isaiah did, ‘Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts’ (Isaiah 6:5).  I was studying the verses in Isaiah 6 this morning! It seems to fit with your podcast regarding he one thing God requires us to do before He can use us. As I read these verses I thought, ‘Can you just imagine coming before God’s holiness and full glory as Isaiah did?’ I would completely collapse at the weight of how utterly wretched I am! I do not even deserve to be in His presence, which is what Isaiah experienced. I see so many not even caring about being holy, and cleansed before they meet the Lord. As if they are good enough the way they are! Self-righteous. What a shock they will have when they come face to face with the holiness and righteousness of God and they cannot stand under the weight. The Lord could not use Isaiah until he was cleansed and purified. “Thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin is purged” (Isaiah 6: 7). He knew he was touched by the Lord! He was then ready to say ‘Here I am Lord send me’ (Isaiah 6: 8).” Karen Cochran

2 Corinthians 4:10-12

“Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.” 2 Corinthians 4:10-12

“Love this! We must see how wretched we are before a holy God! We will then fall down and say as Isaiah did “Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips” (Isaiah 6:5). He saw his unworthiness next to a holy God! We must be broken and see our utter wickedness before the Lord will use us. Once Isaiah saw what a sinful man he was next to God’s holiness and righteousness he could be used. God came to him saying who shall I send? Isaiah said, ‘Here I am Lord send me” (Isaiah 6:8). Despite his recognition of his own sinfulness he declared boldly to the Lord ‘send me!'” Karen Cochran

I remember experiencing something very similar to what Isaiah did. I was praying and asking God ‘why am I struggling so much?’ The Lord came and took the veil off my heart (2 Corinthians 3:12-18.) I was blinded by my flesh. He used His mirror to shine deep into my heart and He did not spare me at all! I saw every evil part of me! It broke me. I was undone. And what broke me even more was I did not see Jesus. He had been crucified out by my flesh! ‘Oh Lord God’ I cried, ‘how can I come back? How can I find Jesus? I am so wicked before your eyes. My sinful flesh is permeating my whole being!’ But God in His great mercy has shown me the way out. It was a surrender that night! ‘Take all of me Lord and do with me what you will! Not my will but your will be done. I want more of you less of me! But I don’t know how to get there.’ Guess what, God knew! Follow me into the promised land He said! Hallelujah!” Karen Cochran

Abiding Under the Shadow of the Almighty [podcast]

Lord, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke. 16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:  Jeremiah 15:15-16

Dwelling “in the secret place of the most High”

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2  I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Psalms 91:1-2

“In the secret place of the Most High – Spoken probably in reference to the Holy of holies. He who enters legitimately there shall be covered with the cloud of God’s glory – the protection of the all-sufficient God. This was the privilege of the high priest only, under the law: but under the new covenant all believers in Christ have boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus; and those who thus enter are safe from every evil.” Adam Clarke

“[Psalms] 91:1, 2 Jesus is the One who in a preeminent way dwelt in the secret place of the Most High, and abode under the shadow of the Almighty. There never was a life like His. He lived in absolute, unbroken fellowship with God, His Father. He never acted in self-will but did only those things that the Father directed. Though He was perfect God, He was also perfect Man, and He lived His life on earth in utter and complete dependence on God. Without equivocation He could look up and say, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in Him I will trust.” Believer’s Bible Commentary

Attend to My Words [podcast]

IF THE WORD isn’t flowing into you daily, you are falling away. Flood and fuel your heart and mind and body with the pure, the holy light of God’s Word daily and you will never famish! All darkness will be vanquished (Psalms 119:130). All who have been saved and yet aren’t in God’s Word and prayer daily – have rejected Christ, with no exception. Re-turn to the LORD prodigal. There’s no good outside of Christ the KING.

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” Psalms 119:130

ALL who are not in God’s written Word daily are not hearing from God, do not have God’s wisdom and direction, and are walking in darkness – 100%.

The feeding of Christ’s flock would integrally involve exhorting them to diligently study and walk in God’s Word themselves, daily (John 21:15-17). Isn’t this exactly what the apostle Paul told Timothy to do? Yes. He told his understudy to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

One of the ways we know who the false ministers are, is that they want people dependent on THEM, not God. So, they don’t constantly exhort the people to get into God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures, for themselves. Run.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8

“He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. … My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. 23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:4, 20-23

“Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16

“Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” Job 23:12

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16

“Over the last 5-10 years I can see where He has done this for me already, but the problem is …. it’s not enough! I want even more! One hour of study and prayer in the morning is not enough!” Christine
