The Reign of Christ! [podcast]

God counteracts death by the promise of resurrection – now and in eternity! (1 Corinthians 15; 2 Corinthians 4:10-12).

Three Dimensions of the Reign of Jesus Christ:

1. Christ Reigning Over His Creation,

2. Christ Reigning in Your Life, and,

3. Christ Reigning Over the Wicked.

Christ Reigning Over His Creation

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” Isaiah 9:6-7

“Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The LORD REIGNETH.” 1 Chronicles 16:31

“God REIGNETH over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.” Psalms 47:8

“The LORD REIGNETH, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.” Psalms 93:1

“Say among the heathen that the LORD REIGNETH: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.” Psalms 96:10

“The LORD REIGNETH; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.” Psalms 97:1

“The LORD REIGNETH; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.” Psalms 99:1

“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. 24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.” 1 Corinthians 15:22-28

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8

“The most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.” Daniel 4:32

Christ Reigning Over and In Your Life

God sent His only begotten Son to ensure that His people could “reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”

“(…For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) … 21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 5:17, 21

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

As long as Christ is reigning in us, we are reigning with Him! As long as self/sin is reigning in us, we are not reigning with the Savior!

“It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 IFFFF we suffer, we shall also reign with him: IF we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” 2 Timothy 2:11-13

“Glorified Together”

“And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:17-18

Marking His Word

“For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?” Jeremiah 23:18

When Christ reigns in your personal life, He will rain on you to refresh and bless your life.

“Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.” Hosea 10:12

Each and every soul which does not submit to the rule of Christ shall be slain down into eternal damnation for rejecting the “so great salvation” of the one Messiah. – “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation.” (Hebrews 2:3)

“But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.” Luke 19:27

We “shall reign with him a thousand years”

“Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” Revelation 20:6

“I Never Knew You”

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Matthew 7:21-23

“Depart from Me”

“But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence (where) ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.” Luke 13:27

WHEN we dare evade the cross, the call of our LORD to be crucified with Him, we evade the blessings He has for us and place our eternal souls in jeopardy of damnation!

WHO is ready to get some growth, some grace traction in your life as His disciple? Camp out on, get saturated with His message of the Cross! There is no other way! We must be crucified with Him to be raised up by Him! This is how we truly “taste and see that the LORD is good” (Psalms 34:8)!

Where Christ is truly reigning, there is victory over sin, Satan, and self!

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7

Christ only reigns where He is honored – where that person is truly submitted to Him on His stated terms.

Powerful resurrection life teeming in and through our lives requires a going down deep into the death of Christ (2 Corinthians 4:10-12). There is no shortcut.

“WE WOULD SEE JESUS.” John 12:20-21

Detox your inner man! Detox your spirit, soul, and body! How? Fasting and Prayer! Delighting in the LORD (Psalms 37:4). Fasting and prayer begins with being done, being fed up, being exhausted of the iniquitous nature that has driven us into darkness, into dismal ditches with guilt, shame, and forfeited blessings the result! Our desire now and henceforth is for Christ (and not self) to reign supreme in our lives! Self, sin must be dethroned. Serving self instead of the Savior has ushered in every single evil thing into our lives and we now stand forth and declare that Christ must increase but we must decrease (John 3:30)! We do this now with more than just words – even also with a holy resolve, a driving of the stake deep into the ground, singly focused on the reign of Heaven’s coming KING, on the seat, the throne of our hearts. The reins of our lives are reserved for Him to reign over, no longer us!

DOES anyone want the LORD – on HIS stated terms? This is the big question. Many are content to “serve” Jesus on their own made up terms – which don’t include true repentance, change, surrender (Psalms 119:105; Matthew 7:21-23; John 8:47; 1 John 2:4, etc.).

Jesus’ way begins with true repentance which always results in the bearing of good fruit, loving His truth, denying self, taking up the cross (the crucified life) daily, and following Him.

Christ Reigning Over the Wicked

It’s not going to be pretty. The wicked shall be crushed under His holy feet and Christ returns to take back possession of His earth.

“Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.” Isaiah 13:9

“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” Psalms 9:17

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” Hebrews 9:27

Many will be crushed and judged for rejecting the only salvation, this “so great salvation” that is Jesus Christ.

“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;” Hebrews 2:3

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:11-15
