“Contemplative Prayer” EXPOSED!

There is a heresy circulating in many churches today called Contemplative Prayer, or Centering Prayer. The following is taken from centeringprayer.com…
Centering Prayer is a METHOD OF PRAYER, which prepares us to receive the gift of God’s presence, traditionally called contemplative prayer. It consists of responding to the Spirit of Christ by consenting to God’s presence and action within. It furthers the development of contemplative prayer by quieting our faculties to cooperate with the gift of God’s presence…
Centering Prayer is drawn from ancient prayer practices of the Christian contemplative heritage, notably the Fathers and Mothers of the Desert, Lectio Divina, (praying the scriptures), The Cloud of Unknowing, St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Avila.. It was distilled into a simple METHOD OF PRAYER in the 1970’s by three Trappist monks, Fr. William Meninger, Fr. Basil Pennington and Abbot Thomas Keating at the Trappist Abbey, St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer, Massachusetts.

Christian Contemplative Prayer is the opening of mind and heart – our whole being – to God, the Ultimate Mystery, beyond thoughts, words and emotions, whom we know by faith is within us, closer than breathing, thinking, feeling and choosing; even closer than consciousness itself. The root of all prayer is interior silence. Though we think of prayer as thoughts or feelings expressed in words, this is only one expression. Contemplative Prayer is a prayer of silence, an experience of God’s presence as the ground in which our being is rooted, the Source from whom our life emerges at every moment. [emphasis added]

Method of prayer? Where do we read in the Word of God about “methods” of praying? Contemplative Prayer sounds more like New Age meditation! Centering Prayer is of the Devil. Notice the statement above… The root of all prayer is interior silence. What? That’s crazy! From Genesis to Revelation, prayer in the Bible always involves actively asking God for something. We read in Philippians 4:6, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” The Bible tells us to make our REQUESTS known unto God. This is the ONLY manner of prayer taught in the Scriptures. 1st Peter 5:7 states… “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” While the world is getting drunk, sinfully partying, consulting with psychics, and committing suicide to deal with their problems; Christians need to take their burdens to the Lord in prayer, and meditate upon the Word of God (Psalm 1:1-2). Prayer is not a method, it is a conversation with our Creator.

Jesus condemned the prayers of the heathen, who THOUGHT they would be heard for their “much speaking”… “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking” (Matthew 6:7). God is NOT impressed with chants, religious silence, prayer books, vain repetitions, Rosary recitals, or Contemplative Prayer. God wants us to talk to Him normally. When we pray, it should be from our heart, as if we were talking to a friend. Prayer is not some mystical religious experience. Prayer is simply going to God with our thoughts, needs, problems, concerns, worries, decisions, etc. God speaks to us through His Word, the Bible. We speak to God through prayer. God’s Holy Spirit will speak to us through the Word of God (Hebrews 1:2).

Contemplative Prayer is just another gimmick, to steer people away from a genuine walk with God. There are NO methods of walking with God, anymore than there are methods for a child to cry out to his parent for help. Phooey on formalism! Away with ceremonialist rituals! God is not impressed by religious performances, prayer recitals, or silent prayer. The only prayer which God accepts is prayer based upon the precious blood of Jesus Christ…

“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus” -Hebrews 10:19
“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:15,16). Jesus is Precious!

Contemplative Prayer Exposed

“In the West, meditation means to think deeply about something, but in the East it means to empty the mind in order to open it to the spirit world, leading to mystical experiences of “God.” Purporting to reject Eastern mysticism, Richard Foster says, “Christian meditation is an attempt to empty the mind in order to fill it.” He seductively suggests: “John was ‘in the Spirit on the Lord’s day’ when he received his apocalyptic vision (Rev:1:10). America is Under Divine Judgment [podcast]

Chasing the American dream all the way to hell? Are you bowing before your Maker who came and died to save you from sin and this world? Or, are you bowing before “old glory—the red, white, and blue”?

Every person reading these very words is making his eternal bed in Heaven or in hell.

Those bowed truly before Christ and no idol, are about His “business” which is the Great Commission He gave us! Oh, and He holds you fully accountable to obey, to do it. Read the very end of Matthew and Mark.

If you are not deliberately, integrally involved in the Great Commission mandate Jesus gave His people, you are out of the will of God.

AMERICA’S ENEMY INVASION

In the Bible, we read of how God allowed foreign empires like the Assyrians and Babylonians to invade, conquer, and exile Israel and Judah as a form of divine discipline and covenant judgment for their persistent idolatry, social injustice, and refusal to repent.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS TO ANY NATION THAT FORSAKES GOD. – “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God” (Psalms 9:17). America is under divine judgment. See Jeremiah 18.

“At what instant” (marked space in time)

It seems God has His timing in judging nations and history records…..

It is more than obvious that America is not repenting. If that’s the case, what future does America have?

Jeremiah 18:7-10

“At what instant (marked place in time) I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;

8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;

10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.”

How does He judge?

Does He not lift His hand of protection and allow invaders? Read Jeremiah 5-7. This morning as I begin again reading these 3 chapters, what’s happening in America seems to fit for sure. And no president can save America from the LORD’s judgment. The only hope would be the true repentance of the people.

What Bible verse or passage comes to your mind when you think of being possessed by an eternal perspective? How about this one?

PRAYER: Father in Heaven, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ, admitting I have been living for my own evil glory. I am a sinner. I’ve committed the sin of idolatry, having myself first instead of You. I admit here and now before You that I have been committing the damning sin of spiritual adultery. I have claimed to know You and yet refused to uncompromisingly adhere to Your Word. Here and now, right now if never before, I repent and ask You to forgive my sins and to wash me afresh from my sins in the precious blood of Jesus Christ my LORD. Judas died and went to eternal hell, irrevocably as every lost soul shall experience (Acts 1:25). Judas is the “son of perdition” and “perdition” means damnation (John 17:12).

Judas was even sent out with the other apostles to heal the sick, raise the dead, and preach Christ’s Gospel (Matthew 10:1-8). He was real, then backslid and is in hell (Acts 1:16-25).
The Truth about Judas

“And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones (not 11), judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” (Matthew 19:28)

Judas wasn’t kept and Jesus specifically and irrefutably promised him an eternal throne in Heaven – Matthew 19:28. “TWELVE” not eleven~!

At the time of this divinely-given promise, it is more than abundantly clear that Judas was eternally secure, otherwise Christ would have never given this promise to the “twelve” which includes Judas Iscariot (Matthew 19:28). It is only after this that Judas allowed iniquity in his heart and by his own deliberate will fell by his own iniquity (Acts 1:25; Heb. 3:12-15).

“Saying, I (Judas) have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.” Matthew 27:4

“Eternal security”? Don’t kid yourself. Moral cowards who refuse to take person accountability for their every thought, motive, and deed love this lie. Satan’s first lie – which led to the fall of mankind (Gen 2:17; 3:4).
