Fueling, Feeding Upon, Feasting in, and Meditating on God’s Word.

“The Meditation of My Heart” (Psalms 19:14)

Many times we see statements such as “the power of meditation.” This is usually utilized by new agers who aren’t meditating on God’s Word. They aren’t even saved. Beware. There is no power in meditation. Meditation is simply the ability God made us with to meditate upon His Word. In His Word, the Bible, meditation is always found coupled inseparably with His Word.

“This book of the law (the Bible) shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt MEDITATE therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8

Meditating on God’s Word “day and night” is imperative to success and prosperity in Christ’s kingdom!

The only way to be “prosperous,” to “have good success,” is by making God’s Word the final divine authority of your life and mulling it over perpetually, “day and night….”

This was God’s instruction to Joshua and His people – to meditate day and night upon His words, to keep Him first…. this would be essential in possessing the land, in dispossessing their enemies…

The memorial was to serve as a lasting sign of God’s work among the Israelites.

Their miraculous crossing affirmed God’s presence with them and His promise to remove their enemies from the land.

Why did the Israelites build a memorial? It was to commemorate the things that God had done for them! This was to rejoice their hearts and so that they would never forget the heart and hand of their God.

“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. 23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:20-23

Your ability to meditate hinges upon, is conditioned upon your thoughts – what you have put in your mind, your knowledge bank. What are you fueling your mind with? What information are your fueling your mind, your meditation machine with?

Before Jesus saved us, we filled our minds with every evil under the sun and all this will have to be conquered. Repentance, faith, and the crucified life are going to be essential to this victory.

Your treatment of the Word of God is the way you’re treating God Himself. If you’re backing off, not gaining more momentum, diligence in His Word, it’s because this is your heart toward the LORD. If you are digging deeper, staying full of the Word, it’s because you are choosing to love and therefore obey the LORD and the house of your life is being built upon the Rock of Ages (Matthew 7:19-29).

“Stay in God’s Word!!!” Nate

“The Meditation of My Heart”

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.” Psalms 19:14

It is an unspeakable gift and privilege to read, study, speak, and meditate upon God’s Word daily (Joshua 1:8; Job 23:12; Jeremiah 15:16; Psalm 1; 2 Timothy 2:15; 1 Peter 2:2, etc.). No heart, no life shall have joy outside of being entrenched and established in daily Bible reading, study, meditation upon, and obedience!

Think biblically. See everything through the Word of God. Measure and test everything by the Holy Scriptures. Mull them over in your mind perpetually. This friends, is what the true disciple of Jesus does and he will be blessed in everything he does.

Those who don’t think biblically, who aren’t meditating perpetually on God’s words, are not trusting God, are doing things their own way, and are unhappy, miserable, full of fear, and anxious. They have no peace.

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:” Isaiah 26:3-4

With no exception, every human being is meditating on something. Every mind is occupied with thoughts. What are your thoughts? What thoughts is your mind preoccupied with? What words? Are you mulling over the “thoughts of his heart” – God’s heart, which He expressed on the pages of His Word?

“The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.” Psalms 33:11

One can only meditate upon that which is in his heart. This is why putting the Word in our hearts and minds each and every morning, first thing, is so vital. The truth of God’s Word is the fuel our minds are able to meditate upon daily and see all things through the eyes of God, from His stated perspective.

The more you read a book of the Bible, the more your understanding is going to opened to its contents – to see deeper into what the Holy Spirit-led writers are actually communicating (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21). May I suggest you choose a book of the Bible to read – then read and re-read it. As you do, your understanding of the contents of that book is going to grow exponentially, just as Paul prayed it would (Ephesians 1:16-21).

Are you “nourished”?

Are you “nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine”?

“If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.” 1 Timothy 4:6

As we read, study, memorize, and meditate upon God’s words, let us always remember that our LORD Jesus is the Grand and sacred substance, the Theme of all of the Bible.

“And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” Luke 24:27

WHY would I have time to read a whole lot of anything, other things, when I haven’t possibly read and understood God’s Word as thoroughly as it should be loved, treasured, searched, learned, known, and understood?

Psalm 1

The Way of the Righteous vs the Wicked

1  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

FOUR BENEFITS OF MEDITATING ON GOD’S WORD

  1. Meditating on God’s Word will give you spiritual success.
  2. Meditating on God’s Word will help you keep your heart right before Him (Proverbs 4:23).
  3. Meditating on God’s Word will give you insights and wisdom that will guide you at every turn in your life.
  4. Mediating on Scripture will help you fill your mind with the things of God.

“Meditate” appears 14 times in God’s Word.

“And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.” Genesis 24:63

“When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.” Psalms 63:6

I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.” Psalms 77:12

I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.” Psalms 119:15

“Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.” Psalms 119:23

“My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.” Psalms 119:48

“Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.” Psalms 119:78

“Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word.” Psalms 119:148

“Meditation” appears 5 times. Here are 3 of those verses:

“My MEDITATION of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.” Psalms 104:34

“O how love I thy law! it is my MEDITATION all the day.” Psalms 119:97

“I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my MEDITATION.” Psalms 119:99

As with everything in Christ’s kingdom, they are appropriated by repentance, faith, and the cross – the crucified life.

PRAYER: Holy Father, I here and now ask You in the name of Jesus to break me to the core of my being, to do a fresh work, a deeper work. Grant Your gift of true repentance and a turning from all that defiles, from all sin. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight LORD, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Killing Power of the Holy Ghost with Judge Travis Bryan III [podcast]

“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” Romans 8:13

“Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.” 2 Corinthians 4:10-12

“The cross of Christ is the sweetest burden that I ever bore; it is such a burden as wings are to a bird, or sails to a ship, to carry me forward to my harbor.” Samuel Rutherford

Momentum in the power of the Holy Spirit comes from a continual perpetual downward dying motion, being then raised up reciprocally in the resurrection grace of Jesus Christ.

“The flesh loses its power over you when it is crucified. Christ’s power begins to reign. The worries and stress of this life leave. And you begin to have the peace that passes all understanding. Philippines 4:7 Amen! A crucified life! Hallelujah all praise to Jesus.” Karen Cochran

God’s plan for your life….here it is:

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

The ministry has put together 3 volumes sure to deepen your life in Christ, in the crucified life. 3 volumes to boost your life in Christ, in the cross He commanded us to take up – and by which He raises us upward in His glorious power and grace (Luke 9:23-24).

The LORD Lift Up His Countenance Upon Thee, and Give Thee Peace [podcast]

“For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:3-7

“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. ” Numbers 6:24-26
