Clear Proof that Jesus’ Flock is a “Little Flock”

“Fear not, LITTLE FLOCK; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32

You know, looking around us at this fallen world, namely in this late hour, it’s becoming ever more and more clear just how “little” the “flock” of the LORD is.

Question: But how do we know who’s truly part of our LORD’s eternal “flock”?

Answer: Didn’t Jesus tell us “Ye shall know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:16).

Let’s widen the scope on this passage where Jesus tells us that His flock is little:

“But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. 32 Fear not, LITTLE FLOCK; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Luke 12:31-34

The true and small remnant of Christ’s Heaven-bound elect are praying for and working to see His body equipped and the lost saved (Matthew 9:35-38; 28:18-10, etc.). Anyone not interested in and participating in the work of Christ, is not part of His kingdom.

“How is it that ye sought me? wist (know) ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?” Luke 2:49

Dare we claim to be Christ’s and yet not about the “Father’s business”?

What is the “Father’s business”? Christ’s Great Commission commands, put together, clearly points to two elements, two operations of His kingdom …

  1. Feeding His sheep by teaching His Word (John 21:15-17; Ephesians 4:11-12, etc.).
  2. Preaching the Gospel to every creature, the lost (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15, etc.).

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20

IN previous generations, young men and women gave up their whole life of luxury in America to go to a foreign land to preach the Gospel of Christ. Today we have a generation of professing “Christians” who won’t so much as give up a penny to support the preaching of the Gospel of the glorious Savior they claim to be saved by.

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15

There are limitless political pundits being patronized and supported by tens of millions of professing Christians vs. miniscule few participating in the work and with the workers of Jesus Christ. This is clear proof of what Jesus told us that His Father’s kingdom is a “little flock” and that FEW there be that find it concerning Heaven (Luke 12:32; Matthew 7:13-14).

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and MANY there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it.” Matthew 7:13-14

Jesus’ mission in which we are to participate is clear – to edify, feed, and equip His body and to preach the Gospel to the lost. See the work of elders in Ephesians 4:11-12.

All true followers of the Son of God are actively praying and working to see His children growing in His grace and preaching the Gospel to the lost.

“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:35-38

Examining Ourselves Honestly

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” 2 Corinthians 13:5

Litmus Test Check List

  • Are you praying daily for the Heavenly Father to send forth Gospel laborers?
  • Are you actively participating in edifying and equipping the members of Christ’s body?
  • Are you contributing financially to the work of Christ?

Read Matthew 6:19-21, 1 Corinthians 9 and also 2 Corinthians 9 on giving.

If you name the name of Christ and find yourself having backslidden and merely attending so-called “church services,” you must come out from among them. The apostate modern church is the incubator to hell, to make you lukewarm, a ready-to-be-spued, vomited from Christ’s mouth. Run.

“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:15-16

Who’s ready for the soon return of Jesus?

“Occupy till I come.” Luke 19:13

“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62

Might you be in need of repentance and returning to the “first works” of the Gospel – telling others – giving testimony of the goodness of God in Christ?

“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” Revelation 2:4-5

Diagnosis – Exposé: “thou hast left thy first love”

Command – Solution: “repent, and do the first works”

The spread of the Gospel is fueled by the love gifts of Christ’s saints. Are you fueling the Gospel? Are you participating?

YOUR PRAYER: Holy Father, I have not sought Your face continually and have fallen away. In the name of Jesus, please hear my cry and rescue me. Purify my heart and life and please restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation. Use me Jesus – to build up Your body and to participate in winning the lost to You. Right this moment, I lay my life into Your holy hands. Please fill me with Your Holy Ghost afresh. I love You LORD Jesus. In the name of Jesus, amen.
