Ready for the Return of Christ [podcast]

God Made and Redeemed Man for a Relationship

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” John 17:3

Jesus created you and came and died and rose again in order to procure a relationship with you. Your relationship with Him is predicated upon your own adherence to Him, to what He stated concerning that relationship.

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40

Are you returning the love God has for you? Do you truly love God or are you simply trying to use Him to get you out of hell? Do we not understand that He sees all – including the intentions, the motives of our hearts? (See 1 Samuel 16:7.) Isn’t obeying God an expression of our love for Him? (John 14:15; 15:14)

The Word of God foretold that in this last hour before Christ’s return that “in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves … lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; … 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away” (2 Timothy 3:1-7).

“God is love” and our relationship with Him lives or dies on love. Love is a choice – both initially and thereafter, ongoing. God’s everlasting love toward us in no way assures or guarantees that we are going to return that love and, if we don’t, if we die separated from Him in our self-loving sin, we shall forever be vanquished from His holy presence.

“The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.” 2 Chronicles 15:2

“It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” 2 Timothy 2:11-13

“His wife hath made herself ready”

How do we know who is going to be going with Jesus to glory and not hell? Here is it:

“Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.” Revelation 19:7-8

How do we know who the true bride of Christ is? – Simple: It’s those who are making themselves ready for His soon return, to meet Him with a white garment which represents the righteousness of His true saints.

“Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:24-27

Think about the big day, the wedding between a bridegroom and his bride. Think about what that white wedding dress she is wearing is supposed to represent – purity.

“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” 1 John 3:3

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your only begotten Son Jesus to die for my sins. Without You I am nothing LORD Jesus – nothing but a broken and vile sinner. Right now, if never before, I stop my life and lay it in Your holy hands afresh. Jesus You know all my sins which are many. Please wash me afresh in Your precious, perfect, holy blood, fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and use me Jesus. Here and now I lay my life in Your hands as I look fervently for Your soon return. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen my LORD!
