Knowing God’s Will
Have You Ever Wondered How Bad Things Can Possibly be God’s Will?
First and foremost, we must acknowledge the paramount divine truth that we were made to know the LORD who made us. This is key to knowing His will and that we are in it!
HAVE we lost site of the reason for our whole existence? Jesus tells us that the chief divine purpose for His coming was that we might know Him and the Father – John 17:3. That’s was Paul’s whole pursuit (Philippians 3:10).
All things that happen to us are not good, but God uses all things both good and bad for His glory and our good. Listen closely to this Scripture passage:
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8:28-29
Notice in the above passage that the LORD didn’t tell us that all thing are good. No, but it did tell us that God uses all things that happen for His glory and our good. And in verse 29, He reveals that His will is that we “be conformed to the image of his Son.” This speaks of the crucified life where Jesus is reigning in our lives. This is symbolized when we are water baptized – We go down into death and burial and Christ raises us up.
The LORD predestines all He saves to be “conformed to the image of his Son.”
Knowing the will of God and the comfort and assurance it brings is a priceless heavenly gift available to every disciple of Jesus. Nothing short of sheer and consistent obedience will bring such blessings (1 John 3:19-22).
“Great peace have they which love thy law (Word): and nothing shall offend them.” Psalms 119:165
You cannot possibly know the will of God until you know the WORD of God.
Inner peace is only available to those who love and therefore diligently study God’s Word.
The LORD is Perfecting, Maturing Those He’s Saved
“The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.” ~ Psalms 138:8
Certainly the LORD didn’t save us from sin and into His glorious kingdom to leave us as we are, right?
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;” 2 Corinthians 5:17-18
How is the LORD’s sanctification process going in your life? Are you submitted and given over to Him today?
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” ~ Proverbs 3:5-6
Humbling Yourself – Presenting Your Body as a Living Sacrifice
In James 4 we read:
“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” James 4:6-10
It’s always best to simply submit to Jesus, to lay down our lives, and allow Him to lead, guide, and provide.
Being Led by the Holy Spirit
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Romans 8:14
Beware of those who claim to be led by the Spirit of God while contradicting His written Word. His written Word is His unchanging truth and our safety.
We hear God’s voice perfectly every time we read His words in the Bible. KJB
If you will diligently embark on knowing and obeying God’s Word, you will know and walk in His will.
“As newborn babes, desire the sincere (pure) milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” 1 Peter 2:2
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
To walk in God’s Word is to walk in His Holy Spirit.
To walk in the Spirit is to walk in God’s will, God’s Word.
We are to “walk in the Spirit” and not in the flesh:
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:14-24 | Soul Damning Sins
God’s Word is God’s Will
If you are not diligently seeking the LORD you will not know Him nor His will.
The LORD will never ever contradict what He has stated in His Word. He will always lead us in according to His written Word.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalms 119:105
The LORD has Revealed His Very Heart in His Word
“The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.” Psalms 33:11
In the past, before Jesus found and saved us from sin and into His kingdom, we walked in darkness.
“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) 10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. 13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. 14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. 18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.” Ephesians 5:8-21
It Takes a Whole Bible to Make a Whole Disciple
GOD gave you His Word – the Bible – and you are personal responsible to know it and Him. He expects you to seek Him. It’s time to look directly to the One who died on the cross for your sins – and stop looking to mere men, pastors, most of whom are deceivers and will not give you the naked truth of God’s Word! Repentance
You don’t “try” to serve Jesus! No, you either obey him by repenting and laying down your life or you are not serving him. knowing and serving Christ is a deliberate choice. choosing not to obey Jesus is the rebellious act of rejecting him! Jesus says: “He that is not with me is against me.” (Matthew 12:30)
Always remember that is take A WHOLE BIBLE to make a whole Christian – the King James Bible.
Jesus teaches us that after He saves us, we must “abide” (remain, continue) in an intimate relationship with Him to the end of our lives. Abiding in Christ
Your Prayer: Father, in Jesus’ holy name, I thank You for finding me in my sin and forgiving and saving me into Your eternal kingdom. I love You Jesus! I ask You now to truly separate, to sanctify my life, my whole being in this world for Your eternal glory. I am all Yours and You are all mine. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit LORD. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
