Filthy Rich [podcast]

Our riches are in Christ who made, sustains, and owns all and holds the eternal destiny of every soul in His holy hand (Psalms 24:1; Ezekiel 18:4; 1 Corinthians 1:30; Philippians 4:19; Colossians 1-2; Revelation 1:8, 18, etc.). We unearth the platinum and gold nugget treasures of His glory in His Word.

“The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.” Psalms 119:72

If earthly riches are an indication of godliness, Jesus Christ and His apostles certainly were ungodly. Read 1 Timothy 6:3-5. Any person equating earthly wealth with heavenly faith or godliness, is a wolf. Run!

There’s more joy in the heart of the man who treasures, seeks the LORD in His Word than those who in this world obtain earthly treasure.

“I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.” Psalms 119:162

There are whole documentary series of men who spend untold money to hunt down, to seek out hidden earthly treasure. Let’s consider Christ’s warning:

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Mark 8:36-37

So they waste the brief time God gives them on earth in some pursuit, on getting money for their “retirement,” only to die and bust eternal hell wide open. A wasted life.

“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” James 4:14

DO we covet spiritual or financial riches? Are you like David, a man after the heart of the LORD, or do you despise the Son of God for fleeting trinkets of this brief life?

JESUS plainly taught that the way you are treating others in your stewardship reveals exactly how you are treating Jesus and exactly where you will spend eternity (Matthew 25:40-41, 46; Luke 12, 15). Judgment Day! Are you going to run from His truth and thereby sprint into eternal damnation? Or, are you going to stop your life, get before God in true repentance, crying out for Him to break you, before it’s too late? “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found…” (Isaiah 55:6)

THE real Gospel includes truly laying down our lives, and when we do, ALL will be God’s, not ours. We will be set free (1 Chronicles 29:14).

“But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.” 1 Chronicles 29:14
