The Paramount Importance of Knowing God [podcast]
Many false prophets have written best selling books and taught sermons about your “purpose” and have become multi millionaires doing so. In their fake ministries it’s ALL about YOU, YOU are enthroned, not Christ! (Colossians 2:18-19). This is the spirit of antichrist at work – where someone, anyone or anything is exalted above JESUS! Yet astoundingly, these deceivers never even mention the paramount divine purpose that God sent His only begotten Son, the very reason the LORD created you. – To know Him!
“Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 2 Timothy 3:7
Coming to “the knowledge of the truth”? – The divinely ordained paramount, the highest truth of His purpose for sending His only begotten Son to die for us and the reason He made us is to know Him!
Most professing Christian would never stop or slow up to notice this vile deception, this felonious withholding of the truth.
The LORD came for the purpose of and created us to know Him (John 17:3).
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” John 17:3
“It’s all about staying (remaining) in an abiding relationship! Not in words only. But an intimate relationship. Where we are praying without ceasing, sitting at His feet pouring out our hearts, seeking His face, feeding on His word daily for our nourishment. Jesus is our source of Life. If we don’t abide we will wither (spiritually) and be cast into the eternal fire. John 15.” Karen Cochran
“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.” Philippians 3:10-11
Are we caught up in a whirlwind of religious activities and not seeking to know the LORD?
Are we desiring Him, to know Him, to seek His face “continually,” and to “behold the beauty of the LORD”?
“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.” Psalms 27:4
“When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.” Psalms 27:8
Are we barreling headlong into the “I never knew you; depart from me” of Matthew 7:23?
Does He know me? This is a question each of us should be asking perpetually.
“And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Matthew 7:23
Disciples of Jesus are obedient to Him. They serve the LORD and not themselves or other men. They live to know and glorify God. They alone will be with God eternally.
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21
YOU know when you are authentically saved when everything in your life is about Jesus—not you or some preacher or any other mere man.
“For the love of Christ constraineth (compels) us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: 15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. 16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:15-21
Have we made what we falsely call “fellowship” more important than knowing God Himself?
Many of today’s pastors don’t even mention knowing God, seeking God, beholding His beauty. Yet Sunday after Sunday they are heard beckoning the people to “come to church ever time the doors are open” and soliciting them to give to the new real estate project, etc.
Mary sat at Jesus’ feet to which Jesus says “Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:38-42) Notice that Mary’s sitting “at Jesus’ feet” seems to have an eternal impact – “which shall not be taken away from her.”
“Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually. 1 Chronicles 16:11
Herd Mentality or Humble Servant
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:13-14
Engaged but not yet Married
“For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:2
Our Father and LORD Jesus desire to be honored in our lives. We are “the children of the highest” and this is made possible only through Christ alone (Luke 6:35). As our Father, the only perfect parent in existence, He desires to hear and answer all our prayers. Prayer is not just asking but first and foremost, communing with our LORD (Matthew 6:6).
Beloved of God, never lose sight of the reality, the truth that God made you to know and to fellowship with Him. It’s about a relationship, not religion or religious activities.
Prayer: Holy Father, I come to You now, in the name of my LORD Jesus Christ. Please make me one with You LORD. Bless this life to abide in You truly, daily, to be fruitful in Your work for Your eternal glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
