In the following passage of Holy Writ, here’s what we discover: The LORD tells us here that He makes us “strong in the grace (divine enablement) that is in Christ Jesus” to “commit” His bless-ed Gospel “to faithful men.” We are therefore to “endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” Jesus has called and has “chosen” you to be His “soldier” who is to refuse to be entangled, caught up with loving this fleeting world (1 John 2:14-17). You are to “strive for masteries” that you may one day be “crowned” with great and eternal reward as you do things HIS way and no other.

“Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2  And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3  Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4  No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 5  And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. 6  The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.” 1 Timothy 2:1-6

“Strive” here gives the picture of the training and excitement involved with participating in a sport. Remember that? Remember how we trained with nearly infinite passion to be the best we could be on that volleyball, basketball court, in that boxing ring, or on football field?

Miguel is pictured below. We had a very productive conversation as he received the ministry of our LORD’s Word. Miguel invited me to come back and speak more with him. He asked me to come knock on his door sometime so we can talk more. He is also delighted to know you will pray for him. As usual, beloved Miguel was exhorted to go home, read the Bible’s Gospel message of Jesus, repent, and receive Christ. He was shown the prayer on the back of the JESUS tract.

Mission Mexico

This little boy came to me, selling some tortillas and received money for those delicious blue corn tortillas and more, including the Gospel spoken to him. He was given a Jesus tract and instructed to read it. He took that literally, all by himself, as he sat down and began to read the message of the Gospel of Christ out loud. For minutes on end he read intently the words of God. Later, his mother also received the Gospel in the form of the spoken Word, Gospel, and a Jesus tract.

Thank you for your prayers for the beautiful people of Mexico. Our God loves them.
