Is there such thing as Hell on Earth? [podcast]

Is Hell Really on Earth?

Personally, I never use the phrase “hell on earth” and here’s why, biblically. No such thing as “hell on earth.”

We often hear people say “I’ve been through hell on earth” or “That person has been through hell on earth.” Is this a valid phrase Christ’s disciples should use?

“But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:” Titus 2:1

Shouldn’t Christ’s followers use the word “hell” only in the context of how God’s Word uses it? That is, as the place of irrevocable confinement, unalterable incarceration in the fiery pit to suffer conscious torment forever for dying outside of the only salvation – Jesus Christ?

The Bible clearly reveals that God sovereignly gave man the choice to choose Him and Heaven or sin and hell (Deuteronomy 30:19-20; Joshua 24:15; Romans 6:23, etc.). Free Will

Personally I am careful about the use of the term “hell on earth.” This phrase would seem to minimize the reality of the brutality of eternal hell. Yet, perhaps there is a permissible way to use this phrase “hell on earth.”

On this topic, one writer notes: “There is a foretaste of hell as well as a foretaste of heaven (Holy Spirit earnest deposit) on earth with the full load to follow. The Prodigal son experienced a foretaste of hell on earth before he decided to go home.”

Another believer says: “For the saved/born-again Christian, living on earth is as much Hell as we will ever experience. For the lost people, living on earth is as much Heaven as they will ever experience. 🔥🙋‍♀️. Thank you, Jesus, for saving my soul!! ❤️❤️”

When someone dies we often hear “well he’s in a better place” which is not the truth unless that person who died was truly born again and in Christ at the time of his death.

When we hear people say things like “I’ve been through hell on earth” it’s due to their going through a very difficult ordeal or season, right? Yet, whatever they have been through on earth cannot possibly compare to the eternal misery that awaits the lost in the domain of the damned. No matter the gloom and despair a person has been through in this life while on earth, it’s not even remotely comparable to the unending misery that lies ahead if they die outside of Christ.

My personal concern when people use the phrase “hell on earth” is coupled with the great deception that all men die and go to a “better place,” a place of peace, which is a diabolical lie to remove from mens hearts the fear of the LORD and the fear of going to hell. Jesus taught that one should cut off their own hand or pluck out their own eye to miss this irrevocable, horrific eternal destination (Mark 9:43-49).

What did Jesus teach about eternal punishment?  In Mark 9, Jesus repeatedly uses the term – “their worm dieth not” – “worm” here is an idiom for consciousness which He says will never end. Lost souls will suffer unending torment. Annihilation is a lie. Here Jesus is warning us to get rid of all sin lest we be cast into hell, separated eternally from He who is “Holy, holy, holy” and commanded us to “Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (Isaiah 6:3; 1 Peter 1:15-16; Revelation 4:8)

“And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into THE FIRE THAT NEVER SHALL BE QUENCHED: 44 Where THEIR WORM (consciousness) DIETH NOT, and the fire is not quenched. 45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into THE FIRE THAT NEVER SHALL BE QUENCHED: 46 Where THEIR WORM (conscious feelings) DIETH NOT, and THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED. 47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: 48 Where THEIR WORM DIETH NOT, and THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED. 49 For every one shall be salted with fire(preserved in suffering), and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.” Mark 9:43-49

“salted with fire” refers to preservation. This further exposes the annihilation lie. Notice how these cultists are amateurishly obvious in their selective, seductive theology as they seek to do away with the plainly stated eternal, unending divine retribution that is coming on all wicked souls. Is salt not obviously a preservative? Well, is Jesus not confirming and reiterating the rest of what He is saying here with the obvious truth that all sacrifices in hell will be salted to preserve them from being annihilated so they can be tormented consciously as a just reward for rejecting the very precious blood of Jesus? The Father didn’t send His only begotten Son to die in vain.

In light of this Mark 9 passage: Jesus, the only Savior, preached hell and commanded His people to preach hell in order to warn men to not go there. Hell is the justice of a holy God and is a vital component of the original Gospel message preached by Jesus and is a manifestation of God’s love. Only wolves in sheep’s clothing leave it out of their messages!

Hell is a definite, literal location, place reserved for “the devil and his angels” and for those who die having rejected God’s offer of His only begotten Son (Matthew 25:41). Hell will be “cast into the lake of fire” for the eternal suffering of all who died having rejected the only sacrifice for their sins which was the blood of Jesus Christ (Revelation 20:14).

Hell is not ON earth but rather is located in the heart of the earth.”

“For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” Matthew 12:40

It is said that there are 49 Bible verses which reveal that hell is located in the heart of the earth. Here’s 2 more:

“And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. 33 They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.” Numbers 16:32-33

“When I shall bring thee down with them that descend into the pit, with the people of old time, and shall set thee in the low parts of the earth, in places desolate of old, with them that go down to the pit, that thou be not inhabited; and I shall set glory in the land of the living;” Ezekiel 26:20

Nothing on earth, in this life, could possibly compare to the horrific details of hell we have vividly described in Scripture.

BEWARE: Scripture warns us of “another Jesus”, “another gospel,” “another spirit.” (2 Corinthians 11:2-5) The Bible is clear about hell being the literal place of punishment for all rebels, all who die outside of the one Mediator between God and man, Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 2:4-6).

Details about hell revealed in God’s Word, the Bible:

  • A place of complete consciousness (all feelings)…Lk. 16:25
  • Torment with fire and brimstone……………….……Rev. 14:10
  • Weeping and gnashing of teeth……..………….…..Matt. 8:12
  • A place of eternal remorse (devastating regret)…Luke 16:25
  • A place of torments…………………………………..…Luke 16:23
  • No rest day or night forever (eternal misery)…….Rev. 14:11
  • A furnace of fire with wailing……………………….….Matt. 13:42
  • A place of everlasting burnings……………………..Isaiah 33:14
  • Hell will be cast into the lake (ocean) of fire…….Rev. 20:15
  • Unquenchable fire (ferocious flames)……….………Mark 9:45
  • Outer darkness (blinding loneliness)…………..….Matt. 22:13
  • No 2nd chance to escape (utter hopelessness)…Luke 16:26
  • A place of sorrows (seething remorse and despair)…Ps. 18:5
  • A place of everlasting destruction…………..……..2 Thess. 1:9

Could volcanoes be the expulsion of hot molten lava to make more room in hell?

It seems that the word “brimstone,” which is found 15 times in Scripture, could be the same thing as what we know to be hot molten lava that boils and comes out of volcanoes on the top of the earth.

Could it be that hot molten lava is being pushed out of the middle of the earth which is where hell is – by the hand of and for the purposes of God?

“Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.” Isaiah 5:14

According to the Holy Spirit’s revelation to the prophet Isaiah, it seems that hell is continually expanding in order to accommodate the masses of rebels going into it daily. Remember that Jesus told us that most people are going to hell and not Heaven.

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:13-14

Also, the Bible term “lake of fire” seems to indicate that there could be a flow, not of water but of “fire.” Wow! Could that correlate with the flow of liquid lava that flows from volcanoes when they erupt?

Making Peace with God before it’s too late

The Bible’s Vivid Description of the Domain of the Damned

Jesus Christ will love you all the way into hell – because He gave you free will, allowing you to choose Him or sin and hell. He also died on that cross to forgive your sins and save you from eternal damnation (1 Timothy 1:15). Billions of souls this moment occupy hell irrevocably – there are no second changes (Hebrews 9:27). Are YOU going to hell?
