Does Going to a “Church” Building on Sunday Mornings Constitute True “Fellowship”?

“Man, are we the only ones that understand this. I’ve experienced the condemnation from other believers because I don’t go to church. I’ve literally tried, but I’m afraid it’s just that bad. The condition of the Church is that far gone. I know not all churches are like this. There are some good ones but I don’t live around any of them.” Jeff Thomas

“Ye are God’s building.” 1 Corinthians 3:9

WE are the church, the called out ones, is a better way of putting it. The “house” of the LORD has a much larger meaning than a designed “church” building, so called, usually run by wolves. The “house of the LORD” can refer to the presence of the LORD, not a physical meeting place.

“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.” Psalms 27:4

In Psalm 27, there is no mention of other people or a certain dwelling place other than it’s the LORD David sought.

Seems like from the next verse that in the whole of God’s creation, He can and should be worshipped:

“God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;” Acts  17:24

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

JUST WHAT FRUIT HAS SUNDAY MORNING CHURCH ATTENDANCE PRODUCED OTHER THAN COUNTERFEITS?

  • Where’s the evangelism? (Mark 16:15)
  • Where’s the daily teaching and fellowshipping in the Word? (Matthew 28:18-20)
  • Where’s the crucified saints? (Luke 9:23-24)
  • Where’s those diligently preparing to meet the LORD? (Revelation 19:7-10)

The proof is in the fruit. WHAT has the modern “church” so called produced other than a generation of self-serving counterfeits, just as the Holy Ghost foretold in 2 Timothy 3:1-7. One born again saint put it this way:

“Refusing to sit under the false gospel, false doctrines, false teachers and wolves; is not forsaking the assembly.”

If the modern church is of God, is fulfilling God’s will, why is the fruit rotten?

  • Where is the message, the word, the divine command to “repent” ever heard in the modern church? Nearly never, right? Yet it is the first word, divine command of the original Gospel first preached by John the baptist, then Jesus, then the apostles (Matthew 3:2; 4:17; Luke 13:3; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 20:21, etc.).
  • Where is the message of the cross, the crucified life preached by Jesus and His holy apostles? (Luke 9:23-24; 2 Corinthians 1:9; 4:10-12; Romans 6; Galatians 2:20; 5:24; 6:14, etc.).
  • Where is the evangelism? (Mark 16:15; Book of Acts, etc.)

Evidence you’ve been indoctrinated into churchianity instead of Christianity:

  • If you raise your hands in “church” but not at home
  • If you behave one way at church and another way at home
  • If you read the Bible in church and don’t devour it at home, on a daily basis
  • If you pray in church and don’t live a life of prayer daily

The most authentic, fruitful cross-bearing disciples of Jesus I know, do not attend a “church” on Sunday mornings. No, they obey Jesus by follow Him “daily.”“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross DAILY, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it” (Luke 9:23-24).

Show me a Sunday morning “church” where the cross, the crucified life Jesus mandated is being taught all the time? No such thing. Case closed. False gospel. False “bibles.” False prophets.

Just because most pastors are false, in no way negates God’s mandate for each of His saints to fellowship daily with other believers (Acts 2:42-47; 5:42; Colossians 3:16; Hebrews 3:13; 10:25, etc.)!

Jon Crane writes:

“The church is also Acts 2:42-47. Where is the daily fellowship in these modern ‘church’ buildings? Where is the selling of their possessions (leadership and laity) and parting them to all men, as every man had need? Should not everything pertaining to the New Testament church be proclaimed?

Going once a week to a 501c3 state ‘church‘ to fund bigger buildings, bigger houses, luxury cars, private jets seems a bit Pharasaical.

Would I love to fellowship with true believers? Absolutely, and I do daily through social media and with a few in person. But, I will not be caught bidding godspeed to the mostly apostate church in America. 2 John 11

First repentance in the church (leadership), then perhaps God will restore the candlestick. Too many obeyed man rather than God in closing their doors, shaming Christ for fear of a virus, and showing the whole world what little faith they had and who really owned them! – the state! What Hypocrisy!

It is no wonder many did not return. Why would they seek any more help from such a place that had no real faith and obedience to man, not God who commanded His people to never cease fellowshipping!?”

Many who leave the organized apostate “church” do so, not because they are abandoning the faith but rather because they want to preserve their faith. We were told that in this last hour “evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse” and that “MANY false prophets shall arise and shall deceive MANY” (2 Timothy 3:13; Matthew 24:11). So this truth of the remnant departing from the false prophets and false gospel and the “accursed” peddlers of it, should be no surprise.

“I have witnessed this apostay in the local church for over 30 years.” Thomas Cochran

Is it a sin to go to a place of fellowship on Sundays? No. Yet such is not an essential to salvation and to make it such is to err, is to miss the point of Scripture, is to overemphasize something the LORD never emphasized. True fellowship among the brethren is what matters, not the place or physical building. Jesus preached to the 5,000 men, right? WHERE? In the desert (John 6).

It’s the wolves of the modern church who indoctrinate people to believe that THEIR little mortgaged “church building” is the divinely designated “holy” place to be on Sunday mornings. Nonsense. Sounds pretty Catholic actually.

WHERE you fellowship or WHEN you fellowship is not an essential. The biblical nature and quality of the fellowship is what matters to God. No where does the Bible dictate that true fellowship MUST take place in a certain designated official “church” building. Fellowship is what is emphasized and not the day or location. Isn’t that what Jesus made clear when speaking to the woman at the well in John 4 when the woman sought to make worship about a geographical location? Yes.

“Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:20-24

There is no stated necessity in the Scriptures to be at a certain church building on sunday mornings. Nowhere. Actually it’s the wolves who misuse Hebrews 10:25 for their own self-serving agenda while they refuse to truly teach the WORD and watch for the souls of the saints (Hebrews 13:7, 17). Therefore they do not qualify to be submitted to.

Does the Word Instruct Christ’s Disciples to Assemble? Yes.

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25

The earliest followers of Jesus didn’t wait till Sunday morning. That’s lame, right? Selah. No, they couldn’t get enough of Christ and so they gathered “daily” in the temple (Jewish and yet they were run out before long) and “house to house” (Acts 2:42-47; 5:42).

The “house” of God is the people of God, not a physical building or gathering at a certain time in a certain building.

To further develop this point, let us ask whether or not a penny was ever collected to build an official “church” building. The answer is No.

Good day saints. The Word never instructs God’s people to go to church but rather to assemble, to serve the LORD daily and to fellowship daily according to the simple biblical model, right (Hebrews 10:25)? I don’t think we could find 5 church goers who could give the Bible definition of true fellowship.

Personally, upon beginning to uncover these truths, I ceased telling anyone to go find a church, or to go to church…. and that’s due to the “MANY false prophets” we were often warned about, and most of what there is “manning” the pulpits of America’s apostate “churches,” which are more like entertainment centers, circuses with clowns conducting their so-called “services” (Matthew 24:11; 2 Timothy 3:13; 4:2-4). Of course there are still a very few who are in the truth – and use the real Bible, the King James Bible, etc. Very few. New “bibles” are all fake and the presence of such spells, equals apostasy (Revelation 22:18-19). The remnant are learning to feed themselves and those around them, worship God daily, equip the flock, and communicate the Word (Colossians 3:16). They don’t need a designated building to attend and put on a religious act. Sorry but that’s usually what it turns into. Sound like what Jesus told the false religionists of His day? Monkey see. Monkey do.

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.” Matthew 23:15

The authentic remnant elect of Christ do not patronize false leaders. Refusing to sit under, condone, bid Godspeed to the false gospel, false doctrines, false teachers and wolves of the modern church … is not forsaking the assembly! Instead, it’s obedience to God who mandates that we “mark them” and “earnestly contend for the faith” against them, and warns us that anyone who bids Godspeed to them will be punished with them (Romans 16:17-18; Jude 3; 2 John 2:10-11).

“But exhort one another DAILY (not weekly), while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” Hebrews 3:13

True elders, pastors, etc., do NOT need a certain official so-called “church” building to conduct themselves as overseers. When Peter speaks of and to overseers in 1 Peter 5:1-6, there is no mention of a designated church building. That’s because it’s all about THE CHURCH, that is, the PEOPLE of God and not meeting weekly in a certain building.

“For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building… 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”  1 Corinthians 3:9, 16-17

PRAYER: Father, in the name of Jesus, please teach us Your way – Your Word. Establish us in You, rooted and grounded in Christ. Bless us to discern between truth and half-truth lies. Wash me clean from all my sin – at the forefront of which is pride, selfishness, self-idolatry, rebellion, and lawlessness. I love You LORD Jesus. Please have Your way in me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

DOES the Bible tell us to “Go make disciples” OR to “Teach others God’s Word”? Interesting. Does the Bible Ever Say “Go Make Disciples”?

Humility. Surrender. Sobriety. Restoration. Vigilance. [podcast]

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. 10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” 1 Peter 5:6-10

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”  Hebrews 4:14-16

“But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. 26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.” Hebrews 7:24-26

May God bless you and I with this child-like disposition, heart! Please do it in us dear LORD, in Jesus’ name.

Idolatry

THE SIN, THE CURSE, AND THE FRUIT OF IDOLATRY [podcast]

“Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.” Leviticus 26:1

Idolatry will damn the eternal soul to hell (Exodus 20:3-7; Galatians 5:19-21, etc.). Just one idol. ANYthing that is more important to you than Jesus Christ is an idol. You must repent and receive Christ or you will perish in the flames of eternal damnation (Luke 13:3; John 1:12). If you aren’t willing to give up your religion to follow Jesus, you are a hell bound idolater who has chosen to pay for your own sins for eternity in hell.

God will not be worshipped by physical objects, idols. Jesus says:

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him MUST worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

2 Corinthians 5:16 says “Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.” This verse, this divine truth has helped me out much. God forbids any attempt to worship Him through, via any images, anything physical (Exodus 20:3-7). According to this Bible verse, we do not even know Jesus after the flesh.

Jesus stated the divine essential, the non-negotiable imperative that “they that worship him MUST worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23-24).

17 Soul Damning Sins

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 IDOLATRY, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21

“But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 16  For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” James 3:14-16

IDOL’ATRYnoun [Latin idololatria. Gr. idol, and to worship or serve.]

1. The worship of idols, images, or any thing made by hands, or which is not God.

Idolatry is of two kinds; the worship of images, statues, pictures, etc. made by hands; and the worship of the heavenly bodies, the sun, moon and stars, or of demons, angels, men and animals.

2. Excessive attachment or veneration for any thing, or that which borders on adoration.

from Websters1828

Anything you refuse to give up for Jesus is your idol.

Any person who will not give up their religion to follow Jesus is a hell bound antichrist idolater.

The Stark Contrast between True and False Worship

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3

Whatever you won’t give up for Jesus is a soul damning idol (Mark 9:43-49).

The reason so many don’t take sin seriously and sit under sin-justifying wolves in sheep’s clothing, is because they do not fear nor take God seriously. Then they attack the true messengers of Christ who are declaring that God is holy and He requires non-negotiably that anyone who will know and be with Him eternally cut off occasion for all sin as Jesus commanded in Mark 9:43-49 KJB. They talk about grace but only in the respect that their sins were initially forgiven, yet never in respect to divine grace being the divine influence and enablement in their daily lives to overcome all that displeases Him, as they worshipfully with great gratitude deny self, take up the cross and follow, abide in Jesus (Titus 2:11-14; Luke 9:23-24; John 15:1-6, etc.).

The cross message of Christ and His holy apostles is not a novel concept, idea, or mere suggestion but rather it is a non-negotiable essential component of the original Gospel.

Recently, I ran across a comment by a person who wrote: “A cross (or crucifix, picture, statute, etc.) is not idolatry so long as it leads the person to worship God, and not the object itself.”

Is this true? No. This is pure human reasoning and a denial of the Word of God. As you can tell, this person commenting was most likely catholic. Speaking of the catholic church, they removed the second commandment because it was costing them money. The 2nd commandment says:

“Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.” Exodus 20:4-6

God is not and will not be worshipped through images. In fact only Satan receives worship when images are used (Exodus chapter 20;  1 Corinthians 10:19-21). Satan is the entity who received worship when someone does that which God forbids….

Committing the sin of Idolatry yokes you with devils.

“They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.” Deuteronomy 32:17

LORD Please Prepare and Send Me! [podcast]

So you don’t do anything for anyone except yourself and yet you claim to be saved? Nah. Real repentance, will always, with no exception, bring for a new life, the life of Christ, full of fruit that bears witness to His lordship in that life (Matthew 3:7-10).

Of Isaiah’s repentance and preparation to be used of God, one writer notes:

This phrase is a powerful, timeless prayer for spiritual readiness and a willing heart to serve. It echoes the beautiful biblical passage from Isaiah 6:8, where Isaiah responds to God’s call saying, “Here am I; send me.”

WHEN you ask God to use you, get ready, He’s going to do it. He’s going to prepare and launch you into His fields which are “white already to harvest” (John 4:34-38).

Sometimes I’ve been through seasons of testing, chastening, stripping, purging, etc., not remembering I had prayed for the LORD to prepare and send me. Then it would dawn on me and all began to make sense. God is able. Memorize 2 Timothy 2:21 KJB.

When the LORD appeared to him, the prophet Isaiah was shown his own depravity, his own wicked heart, his own unpreparedness. What was his response and how does this relate to us?

Are you ready this day to say “Jesus please prepare and use me mightily for Your eternal glory! I love You LORD. I am all Yours! Please do Your deeper work in this life You gave!”?

One must be prepared by God to be used by God.

“If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” 2 Timothy 2:21

To the degree that we allow God to prepare us, to that degree shall He powerfully use us. The cross. The only way up is down beloved.

Is today your day to surrender afresh? John 3:30, Colossians 3:3 anyone?

Prepared by God to be Used of God (category)

Regrettably, most professing Christians will never love Jesus enough to give up this fleeting world for Heaven’s coming King (Luke 14:33; 17:33).

Have you ever pondered why there is little or no Scripture being used when listening to someone pretending to be speaking about the LORD? You should wonder (Matthew 7:16, 20; 1 John 4:1).

“Preach the word” is the divine mandate, command, and also “do the work of an evangelist” (2 Timothy 4:2,5).

Let us cease to pretend that we represent the LORD when everything we say isn’t coming straight out of His Word. Read that again please. He didn’t instruct us to entertain or to tell stories. He commanded us to preach HIS Word. King James Bible.

“If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles (written Word) of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11

Think God is calling you to serve? Good. If He has saved you, He has called you (Ephesians 2:8-10; 4:7). Get lost in His Word every day (Jeremiah 15:16). Read it (Revelation 1:3). Study it (2 Timothy 2:15). Memorize it (Proverbs 4:4). Meditate upon it day and night (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1). THAT’s your prep for ministry, not going to an antichrist seminary. Jesus inducted you into His school of the Holy Ghost and Word the moment He saved you.

Are you daily devouring God’s Word, OR are you backsliding?

“Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16

God Visits Isaiah

If we’re not talking about the holiness of the one true God—that He is “Holy, holy, holy” —what false god are we speaking of?

Isaiah 6

Isaiah’s Calling/Vision of the Lord

“1  In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

2  Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

3  And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

4  And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

5  Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

6  Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

7  And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Isaiah’s Commission from the Lord

8  Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

In Your process of preparing this vessel, when needed, please “Let the righteous smite me….” (Psalms 141:5).

HAVE YOU ever prayed this prayer? Do you want to be a man after God’s own heart like David? (Acts 13:22) If so, you must emulate the beloved David and pray this prayer!

“There is no better test of a man’s ultimate chivalry and integrity than how he behaves when he is wrong.” — G.K. Chesterton

IF you are not a DOER of God’s Word, it proves you are not saved, and are a lukewarm hell bound rebel. Repent now and bring forth fruit to prove it (Matthew 3:7-10; 7:21; Titus 1:16; 1 John 2:4; Revelation 2:26, etc.).

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” James 1:22

May I be a doer of Your Word dear LORD. Let it be, in Jesus’ name.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21
