Being a Witness to those around Us [podcast]

Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.” Isaiah 43:10

“And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; 12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.” 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

My first pastor used to always say: “As a child of God, you should be the hardest working, the most diligent worker at your work place.” In other words God’s people are to put in an honest, good day, each and every day at work and otherwise.

“Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; 10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.” Titus 2:9-10

“Purloining” here means to embezzle by not working hard. Read the passage above again.

Cutting out all busybody and gossip and “evil surmisings” (guessing, projecting evil) is essential to a clean, good witness for Jesus (1 Timothy 6:3-5).

“But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.” 1 Peter 4:15

Memorize Colossians 4:5-6

“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. 6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” Colossians 4:5-6

The Essential Importance of Christ’s Fruit in Our Lives

Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed: 4 But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses.” 2 Corinthians 6:3-4

“If you are a true witness for Christ, souls will be delivered from Satan’s snare through your life! (Proverbs 14:25) Yet if you lie and are a hypocrite, you will not witness Christ to anyone! My mom was talking about one of her bosses who claimed to be a Christian, yet lived in much fear. My mother (who is not yet saved) told me that lady is a hypocrite and does not show Jesus to anyone! Wow! My mother is not saved! But she recognized this lady was a lying hypocrite! Fruit. People watch, when you say you are a Christian you’d better live like one! I prayed at that moment that she (my mom) would see Jesus in me and not see me as a hypocrite!” Karen Cochran

If you haven’t perfectly represented Christ since the moment He saved you, fret not. Remember 1 John 1:9 and the fresh start our LORD desires to give you! He will. Honestly go before His throne of grace in repentance and confess all sin and He will vanquish it!

Memory verse

“And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.” Acts 24:16

One of the greatest witnesses to the lost is a life that is overflowing with the love, joy, and peace of Jesus! See Galatians 5:22-23. This is exactly what this now saved disciple witnessed in the believers God sent into my sinner life. This was an extremely strong witness to me which was the salt on the path to the trough that caused me to be saved when presented with the Gospel message and called to repent and believe upon Christ! (John 1:12; Matthew 3:2; 4:17, etc.).

Okay so you go to a church building on Sunday morning yet don’t seek God in His Word and prayer daily? You are backslidden – which means you are away from God. Any person saved in the past and yet who is not presently hungering and thirsting after more of Christ, of His righteousness, has backslidden and is in need of true repentance before it’s too late.

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6

YOUR PRAYER: Holy Father, I come to You here and now, acknowledging my sin before Thee. Please forgive me for being a self-centered idolater full of pride and arrogance. Please forgive all my sins afresh in the precious blood of Jesus and take away the stony places of my heart, granting this heart to be an heart of flesh. Unite my heart to fear Thy name dear LORD and make me Your witness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
