Learning to Mind Our Own Business [video]

Hint: If something is not specifically named as a sin in God’s Word, leave others alone about it. MYOB, right? (Mind Your Own Business)

“Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.” Romans 14:4

You know you are in need of true repentance when you focus on the faults of others and yet spend no time praying sincerely to God for them.

“If we would judge” WHO? Read closely:

“For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.” 1 Corinthians 11:31-32

There is order in the house of God and one of the instructional orders, is to never judge another saint for something not named as a sin in God’s Word. If something is not a sin, it’s likely something God grants personal liberty in. Do you know Romans 14 well? If not, why not?

We Can “STUDY TO BE QUIET”

“And that ye study (work hard) to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; 12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.” 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

EVER have a problem with your mouth? Memorize Matthew 12:34 now. It’s good to know God can and will transform us out of this, this loose tongue or preoccupation with non-essentials in others as we “study” this topic and prayerfully apply His truth to our lives.

WHOSE sins did you die for? Why do you believe you have the right to judge another believer on a matter not expressly spoken of as a sin in God’s Word? Any person doing such a sin is in great need of repentance and is only projecting the darkness of their own hearts on others (Romans 2:1-3).

“Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” Romans 8:33-34

“…do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10

You cannot and will not please everyone, and such should not be your goal. Only please God beloved, and in NON-essentials make your own decisions – void of the undue, unwarranted interference of others! (Read Romans 14) Some people are operating in witchcraft and don’t realize it. They haven’t repented and learned how to mind their own business. And, so many live under the witchcraft of pleasing family and friends and the whims of others. If that’s you, you are not yet free but you can be. Seek the LORD in special prayer. Repent afresh and ask God to strip off every trace of witchcraft and control over your life. Ask Him to establish your life in His love and truth and all fear shall be vanquished from your life! (See John 4:16-18.)

Note: Anything that is not specifically named as a sin in the Bible, is a NON-essential and that means that God gives YOU the liberty to conduct yourself as you see fit. Read and get to know Romans 14. | Learning to Mind Our Own Business

IF THE BIBLE DOESN’T SPECIFICALLY NAME SOMETHING AS A SIN – IT’S NONE OF OUR BUSINESS WHAT OTHER BELIEVERS CHOOSE TO DO IN THEIR GOD-GIVEN LIBERTY. SO, WE SHOULD CONSIDER ZIPPING OUR MINDS AND MOUTHS AND GET OURSELVES BEFORE THE LORD IN REPENTANCE AND STOP JUDGING HIS PEOPLE FOR WHAT HE NEVER SAID IS A SIN! LET’S READ ROMANS 14 AND PRAY THAT GOD WILL GRANT US HIS GRACE TO GROW IN GRACE.  WE SHOULD ASK THE LORD TO STRIP US, TO RID OUR LIVES OF ALL OUR BUSY BODY WAYS, SINNER.

“And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.” Zechariah 7:10

“Behave Thyself”

“But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” 1 Timothy 3:15

SUMMATION of the Eternal Plan of God: Jesus Christ died on that cross, was buried, and raised again from the dead to save you so you could serve HIM and not mere sinful men (John 17:3; 1 Corinthians 7:23; Philippians 3:6-14, etc.). Beware of those who seek to intercept that vital, intimate union Christ died to secure! Jesus died, was buried, and raised again from the dead so that HE alone who can save would also be the LORD of the lives of HIS people! “For to this end (for this chief purpose) Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living” (Romans 14:9).

Jesus didn’t come, and die, be buried, and raised again so you could destroy His work in the lives of His people for things that don’t matter to Him – non-essentials!

Jesus Christ died for the sins of His individual saints and HE alone is their Head. Now if you’ve been involved in any attitude or activity to impose your own opinions on others, concerning those that are not essential to their salvation, God is calling you to repent and confess this sin to Him.

“Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.” Romans 14:19

Your duty is to “edify,” to build up the body of Christ and not to nit-pick them concerning their own God-given liberties.

Also, believers are not to do things to offend other believers as pertains to non-essentials.

“It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.” Romans 14:21

This seems to be the only mention of things forbidden to eat – “things strangled, and from blood.”

“But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.” Acts 15:20

Otherwise, concerning non-essentials…..

“All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.” 1 Corinthians 6:12

“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.” 1 Corinthians 10:23

Of these 2 verses above, FB Meyer writes:

“It is interesting to compare 1Co_6:12 with 1Co_10:23. There are four clauses in each verse, three of which are similar, but the last ones differ. The two laws that should govern our life in doubtful things, are first, the arresting of oneself in the doing of anything which threatens to become our master; and second, the abstaining from anything which threatens to be a stumbling-block in another’s Christian life.”

We should cease immediately infringing upon the God-given liberty of others. Mind your own business. Examine your own heart and life before God and leave everyone else alone (1 Corinthians 11:31-32; 2 Corinthians 13:5).

Are you learning and teaching this truth concerning essentials and non-essentials? (Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Timothy 4:6, 16)

“Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man’s conscience?” 1 Corinthians 10:29

My God-given liberties are exercised according to my own personal conscience and faith and not anyone else’s.

On this topic of non-essentials, one writer notes:

“There are many different beliefs and practices that Christians have where the Bible is silent on or where the Bible is somewhat ambiguous in.  Some of these beliefs are not going to send people to hell just because they have a different idea on what they think the Bible is talking about.  Here are a few things that Christians have different beliefs on but does not affect their eternal salvation in Jesus Christ…”

Partial List of Non-Essentials for Christians

  • The age of the earth
  • Timing of the rapture/return of Christ (pre, mid, post)
  • Food/drink
  • The day we gather – Saturday, Sunday
  • Who one should marry which is their business and no one else’s – as long as they are both truly born again and abiding in Christ.
  • Full details about the Millennium
  • Playing cards, playing, watching, or attending games, sports, etc.
