Modesty Moments: Beware of the Malevolent Monsters!
Caring for Women is Important to the LORD Whom We First and Foremost Serve
“Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” 1 Peter 3:7
David Taylor writes:
“The Apostle Peter also warns the husband about loving his believing wife and how that may hinder his prayer requests if he doesn’t. It took awhile for this worldly beast man to learn and is still learning how to love my wife as Christ loved and loves His church and gave HIMSELF for her.”
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;” Ephesians 5:25
Modesty is Beautiful
“That women adorn themselves in modest apparel.” 1 Timothy 2:9
When the highlight of your “womanhood” is to show your rear end, or cleavage, doesn’t that speak of a great deficit of true virtuous feminine substance such as what we read about in Proverbs 31 and 1 Timothy 2?
Only what the Bible calls a “whoremonger” (man) finds scantily dressed women attractive (Ephesians 5:5; Hebrews 13:4; Revelation 21:8; 22:15). The whoremonger is looking for a quick fix and not a wife and so he’s drawn to what he wants most to satisfy his lusts – the body, instead of a good wife for life.
Just sent a private message to a young woman claiming Christ as Savior and yet who is showing much, too much of her body in a provocative way:
“Modesty sister…. you are not a whore. you are not just another wicked woman of this hell bound fallen world…. you are a new creature in Christ. Read, own, pour and over 2 Corinthians 5:17-18; 1 Timothy 2:9-15… A good man will have nothing to do with a whorish woman who is flashing and showing her body to the world. There’s nothing more attractive and sexy than a woman who is modest, classy, exuding purity reserved for her husband.”
The godly man views modesty as a must and a turn on. A scantily dressed, an immodest woman is a major red flag “NO” for sane men.
A wise older sister in Christ once told me as a young man that “the more flesh a woman is showing to the world, the more fleshly, ungodly she is” (Titus 2:1-5; 1 Timothy 2:9-14).
The godly woman will manifest modesty not her body!!
God instructs women to be modest in their apparel but He did not ordain that sinful men take advantage of His instructions to women or that foolish, self-righteous religious hypocrites make a religion out of it by controlling and abusing women with their self-imposed rules and regulations!!!! You know, like the cults that force women to wear dresses down to their shoes, can’t cut their hair, going to hell if they wear jeans or a piece of jewelry or makeup, etc. None of those are sins mentioned in the lists of soul-damning sins we see in Scripture (Galatians 5:19-21, etc.). And quite frankly, it seems that perhaps the lusts of these controlling men is the real issue.
Exposing the False Burdens of False Prophets
May God bless us gentlemen to nurture, protect, and provide for the ladies the LORD put in our lives and to lift and not lay burdens on our sisters in Christ.
When our manhood consists of malevolent treatment of women, isn’t that the opposite of Christ’s command and example, when He gave His life for the church, His Bride? (Ephesians 5:25-27)
This abuse seems to fall under the governing principle of the following prophetic warning Jesus gives concerning men who once served Him and yet now abuse His people. Notice that Jesus says these abusers are the ones going to hell:
“But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to BEAT (abuse) the menservants and maidens (ladies), and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; 46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. 47 And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.” Luke 12:45-48
The godly man will protect his beloved wife from such bondage laden false teaching. He will remove her from such men who load undue burdens on the shoulders of God’s people (Matthew 23:3-4). One mark of a false leader is that he puts undue, un-biblically true burdens on those he speaks to. More on this important discernment point in a moment.
As you will witness in the Bible passages below, the LORD’s main principle seems to point to the heart of His ladies and how it’s to be what’s most important, not outward adornment. And as the godly woman’s heart is right with Him, she will obey Him in the way she dresses so as to not tempt men (Luke 17:1-2).
“Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! 2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.” Luke 17:1-2
Notice that the LORD doesn’t say that His ladies will be damned if they style their hair or wear jewelry!
“Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel (jewelry, clothes); 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:” 1 Peter 3:3-5
“In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.” 1 Timothy 2:9-10
Debbie Lord writes:
“Godly women’s first allegiance/obedience is to the Lord, and not to man.
‘For the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.’ 1 Samuel 16:7.
Godly women choose to please the Lord first and foremost.
Holiness always begins inside the heart, not some outward action, like how one chooses to dress.
If a woman’s heart is right before the Lord, then that heart condition will also show on the outside, in how she acts, speaks and clothes/adorns herself.”
As is the case in the world around us today, so it was in the days the Holy Spirit moved upon the “holy men of God” who penned Holy Scripture (2 Peter 1:19-21). There was much emphasis and fanfare placed on the outer among the lost souls in this fleeting world we are temporarily in. Of this Adam Clarke notes:
“The extravagance to which the Grecian and Asiatic women went in their ornaments might well be a reason for the apostle’s command.” Adam Clarke
Growing up, my father often said:
“The reason why people decorate their bodies (tattoos, rings, etc.) is due to a lack of substance inside, in their hearts. Their undue, overdone adorning of the outer body points to a vacuum in the heart.”
Of this phenomenon, Adam Clarke writes:
“When either women or men spend much time, cost, and attention on decorating their persons, it affords a painful proof that within there is little excellence, and that they are endeavoring to supply the want of mind and moral good by the feeble and silly aids of dress and ornament.” Adam Clarke
Today, we have many Christian ladies who seem to spend far to much money, time, and emphasis on the outward, instead of the inward, the hidden man of the heart which the LORD looks upon to weigh each of us in the balance, desiring to see us set our heart affections upon Him and like beloved David to have a heart after Him (Colossians 3:1-4; Acts 13:22, etc.).
“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. 5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. 6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. 7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. 8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.” Psalms 27:4-8
The elder women are to teach the younger women these things Scripture speaks of in great detail.
“The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” Titus 2:3-5
We must also beware of false leaders, who lay heavy burdens upon people:
“All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. 4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.” Matthew 23:3-4
Satan is behind all this undue binding, putting bondages on people. Jesus makes the people free who truly follow Him on His stated terms.
“As he spake these words, many believed on him. 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. … 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” John 8:30-32, 36
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
While false teachers place heavy burdens upon their prey, Jesus says that those who will come to Him in true repentance, laying down their lives to follow Him, will walk in His liberty – will be made free!
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

JESUS IS COMING AND THE TRUE BODY OF CHRIST IS “HOLDING FORTH (BOLDLY DECLARING) THE WORD OF LIFE”
“Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.” Philippians 2:16
WHEN you speak God’s Word, you are speaking divine authority.
“These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.” Titus 2:15
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20
“That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.” Philemon 1:6
“Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16
Nourishing the Body of Christ
“If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.” 1 Timothy 4:6
“All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.” Proverbs 15:15
The best way to learn is to teach.
HOW well do you know your way around in God’s Word?
Jesus knew His way around God’s Word. Do you? If not, why not?
“And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he FOUND the place where it was written,” Luke 4:17
The disciple of Christ must daily and diligently search, study, and learn God’s Word in light of His Great Commission command to us to teach His Word to others (Matthew 28:18-20). Our ability to minister is in large part based on our knowledge of God’s Word or the ability to navigate God’s Word (King James Bible).
MAKE THE DIFFERENCE – OBEY GOD, “PREACH THE WORD.” (2 TIMOTHY 4:2)
Tip: Always know WHERE you are reading in God’s Word – chapter and verse. You’ll be surprised at the repertoire that begins to build, making you, like Jesus, a good navigator of our LORD’s Word as you preach His Word (Luke 4:17).
Have you ever pondered why there is little or no Scripture being used when listening to someone pretending to be speaking about the LORD? You should wonder (Matthew 7:16, 20; 1 John 4:1).
“Preach the word” is the divine mandate, command (2 Timothy 4:2).
Let us cease to pretend that we represent the LORD when everything we say isn’t coming straight out of His Word. Read that again please.
“If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles (written Word) of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11
Think God is calling you to serve? Good. If He has saved you, He has called you (Ephesians 2:8-10; 4:7). Get lost in His Word every day (Jeremiah 15:16). Read it (Revelation 1:3). Study it (2 Timothy 2:15). Memorize it (Proverbs 4:4). Meditate upon it day and night (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1). THAT’s your prep for ministry, not going to an antichrist seminary. Jesus inducted you into His school of the Holy Ghost and Word the moment He saved you.
“As I was listening I was thinking of Paul. Who was a very educated man in the law. But after he was saved he spent three years being taught exclusively by the Lord Jesus Himself. And he says he “conferred not with flesh and blood.” But he was taught “by the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (Gal 1:12-18). All of us should be taught by the Lord in His Word and not learned through mere men or books. But by a direct revelation from the Lord Jesus Christ! Jesus is The Word of God (John 1:1, Rev 19:13).” Karen Cochran

WHEN PARENTS GET OLD …

WHEN PARENTS GET OLD …
“Let them grow old with the same love that they let you grow … let them speak and tell repeated stories with the same patience and interest that they heard yours as a child … let them overcome, like so many times when they let you win … let them enjoy their friends just as they let you … let them enjoy the talks with their grandchildren, because they see you in them … let them enjoy living among the objects that have accompanied them for a long time, because they suffer when they feel that you tear pieces of this life away … let them be wrong, like so many times you have been wrong and they didn’t embarrass you by correcting you …
LET THEM LIVE and try to make them happy the last stretch of the path they have left to go; give them your hand, just like they gave you their hand when you started your path!
(“Honor your mother and father and your days shall be long upon the earth”.) – God”
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” Ephesians 6:1-3
Karen Cochran writes:
“A few years ago the Lord spoke to me and I heard honor your Father and Mother. I didn’t know that my Mom would be moving close to me in a few months and I would become her primary helper. It has been one of the biggest challenges of my life because she has dementia and isn’t always kind. I have had to come home many nights and sit at the feet of Jesus and ask forgiveness because I was not like Jesus to her. Then I go back everyday because the Lord commands us to Honor our Mother. He didn’t promise it would be easy. I have to be like Jesus and say Father forgive them for they know not what they do. Luke 23: 34 .As people who have dementia do not know what they are doing or saying.”
Sharing how God is working in her life concerning her relationship with her beloved mother, Karen Cochran writes:
“I had to die to being right. Pride! How could I love her (my mother) with the love of Jesus? How would she see Jesus in me? She would not see Him in me in all my pride and arrogance! By being full of pride, all I did was stir up strife. Proverbs 10:12 ‘Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.’ Because she would retaliate and would be angry. I had to learn to keep my mouth shut. And it has completely changed our relationship. But first the Lord had to change me and cleanse me from my ‘know it all’ attitude and my pride. I went to the Lord and said ‘why is she (my mother) so mean to me’. The Lord straightened me out quick. It was me not her! I couldn’t control her! All I could do was allow God to root out what was sin in me.”
“Being broken to the core has been a continuous prayer for me. Otherwise my stone heart will hurt someone else that does not deserve to be hurt. Jesus had shown me my resentment against my parents. As I went to their grave, Jesus begin to say, ‘If they hadn’t taken you to Jesus at an early age, you wouldn’t be where you are now.’ I felt all the bitterness, anger, and hatred leave. How gracious is our Savior!” Thomas Cochran
