We Wrestle Not Against Flesh and Blood with Todd Tomasella and Frank Telford

Growing up the primary sport that I was involved in was wrestling. Paul wrote that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood like I was used to, but against an invisible enemy.

As we grow and mature as Christians the attacks from the enemy become more diverse but it’s the same plan. They want to cause us to fall. Paul wrote,

“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.”
2 Cor 2:11

Now using the wrestling analogy, how does Satan attack us? That’s an important question because it’s definitely going to happen. Being prepared is half the battle. Remember we are not going to be ignorant, so what are we supposed to do?

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8

The key to overcoming is simply to recognize what’s going on as soon as things start to get difficult. We are told to test every spirit to know if it is from God and when these things occur it will be obvious that it’s a demonic spirit attacking us because you will not feel the peace of God. One thing that I’ve learned that the demons can’t deal with is a grateful heart. Giving thanks in the midst of trials for all the good things you do have is an open door to receive your peace back. Have an attitude of thanksgiving and their fiery darts will bounce of your shield of faith with no effect. Also get used to taking those cares and seeking help from the One who cares for you. Running to God and not away from Him is the answer.

Caprice means a sudden and unaccountable change of mood or behavior.
