The Truth about Liberty-To Use or to Abuse it

“For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.” Galatians 5:13

WHEN the Bible speaks of “freedom” and “liberty”, the LORD is not speaking of freedom or liberty to live any way we wish but the crucified life – set free from the controlling power of sin by the initiating, enabling saving grace of Christ! Free from sin and it’s hold on our lives.

“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” Romans 6:14

Sin cannot rule, cannot dominate the life of the crucified saint! Read Romans 6:1-17 afresh!

There is the potential to use the liberty Christ gives us for an occasion to walk in sin.

“As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.” 1 Peter 2:16

When we choose to truly turn our hearts to the LORD, he removes the confusion and grants us His kingdom clarity.

“Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:16-18

YOU are called to “liberty” and where the “Spirit of the LORD” dwells in the life of the born again abiding (obedient) believer, “there is liberty.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)

Our LORD taught that His truth will only make free those who obey it, not those who merely hear or know it. Read His words closely please:

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word (obeying it), then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32

Those who believe upon Christ and He saves them are not saved by Him to live in sin or anywhere outside of an abiding relationship with their new Master (John 15). The LORD is “Holy, holy, holy”, and doesn’t grant a license to sin to those He saves (Titus 2:11-12; Jude 4; Revelation 4:8). Those who live and die in sin will be damned (Ezekiel 18:4; Romans 6:23; Hebrews 12:14, etc.).

Those saved by Christ are to live out the remainder of their lives for Him, not self.

“And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” 2 Corinthians 5:15

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

OSAS/eternal security is a major component of the epidemic cross-less false gospel of the apostate modern church world!

The Vulnerability of Liberty

Another aspect of Christian liberty we should consider is that there will be the internal infiltration of wolves into our gatherings and lives.

If we think there are none who want to steal our liberty in Christ, we are dead wrong. We must “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 3)

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.” Jude 3-4

It is important for believers to remain on guard, on high alert, to be sober and vigilant, defending the faith of the Gospel against infiltrating false teachers.

“And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily (secretly) to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: 5 To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.” Galatians 2:4-5

Watch this fake “bible” rendering of Galatians 5:1. Think about it: Did Jesus come to the earth to set us free “for freedom” or to make us free from sin to serve Him?

FAKE “bible” RENDERING OF GALATIANS 5:1

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1

Sounds like it’s saying Jesus came to set people free to do whatever they wish – which is a contradiction of what the Bible clearly teaches.

KING JAMES BIBLE

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1

CLINCHER: v13 KJB

“For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.” Galatians 5:13

Let’s use the King James Bible.

HOW does Scripture define “liberty”? Liberty in what? Freedom from what? Liberty and freedom to do what?

So many songs and the fake news new “bible” versions speak of a freedom that is not biblical. For example, do you know the song that says “It is for freedom we’ve been made free”? Is that biblical? NO! That’s the NIV’s version of Galatians 5:1, not the real Bible’s rendering.

With this biblically defined truth in mind, let’s look at the fake news translations and how they corrupt this self-evident Bible truth. First, let’s look at the Holy Standard, the King James Bible, taken from the 98% of manuscripts that are in full agreement as opposed to the few perverted manuscripts from which the fake news new versions are intentionally taken from, as Satan would have it:

Galatians 5:1 King James Bible

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Galatians 5:1 in the Fake News “bibles”

This lends itself to the idea that the blood bought disciples of Jesus is free to live as he wishes. Yet defines our freedom as liberty to obey Christ and not to live as we wish. As in so many other places, the false “bibles” we have a proliferation of today contributes to the “lasciviousness” (license to live in sin) we are warned about in Jude 3-4.
