One of the duties of an elder among God’s people is to teach and to guard the flock, declaring to all to “teach no other doctrine.” To Timothy, Paul says:

“As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine.” 1 Timothy 1:3

“Charge some to teach no other doctrine – Than I have taught. Let them put nothing in the place of it, add nothing to it.” John Wesley

“Gnostic heresy …. Their teaching led from spiritual pride to sensuality, for they accounted the body as inherently evil. All this was contrary to healthy doctrine. Paul left Titus in Crete for a specific purpose and that was that he could set up elders “in every city” who would hold “fast the faith word” of the original Gospel, “convince the gainsayers”, beware of the judaizing “circumcision”, defend the faith of the Gospel, “rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith”, etc.

“For this cause left I thee in Crete, (why?) that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee … 9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. 10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: 11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake. 12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. 13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; 14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. 15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. 16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.” Titus 1:5, 9-16

“Charge some that they TEACH NO OTHER DOCTRINE.” 1 Timothy 1:3

Here’s what Paul thought about false teachers….

IS WHAT WE BELIEVE IMPORTANT?

“For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. 9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.” 2 John 7-9

Abiding, remaining in the truth concerning the cardinal doctrines of the Christian faith is essential to eternal glory. Believing upon Christ means believe the “the record that God gave of his Son.”

“He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.” 1 John 5:10

The doctrines of Christ are on “record” in the Bible, God’s Word.

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21

We should be leery of those who speak of God’s grace, love, mercy, goodness, etc., and not His holiness, judgment, justice, severity, hell, the holy fear of God, repentance, and the cross, the crucified life He commands of all who will know Him! Total wolves! Only counterfeits continue to listen to frauds who refuse to preach the whole counsel of God’s Word (Isaiah 30:9-10; 2 Timothy 4:2-4)!

Titus 1:9-14 concerning elders in Christ’s body and their duties:

“Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.
12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.
13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.”

WHAT TO DO WITH FALSE TEACHERS – HOW TO LOVE THEM WITH GOD’S LOVE:

“Rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;” Titus 1:13

Then what? – “A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition REJECT;” Titus 3:10

Now read these 2 verses again, understanding there are not suggestions but commands. We don’t know better than the all-wise God (Proverbs 3:5-7).

Qualifications for Elders in Christ’s Body

Exodus 18:21

“Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.”

“able men” – which means men qualified to lead in the eyes of God…. are men of the Word which is given “for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
“men of truth” – (3 John 3:2)
“hating covetousness” – (Exodus 20:17; Ephesians 5:5)

What did Paul say that the body of Christ could “fully” know about his life?

“But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience.” 2 Timothy 3:10

JUST because a man is in a position of leadership in the apostate modern “church” doesn’t mean he has an ounce of wisdom from God or that he is even called out by God and/or properly prepared to lead. It’s time to cease looking to man, saints (Isaiah 2:22).

Set this life that You gave apart for Your eternal purposes. May Christ be revealed and glorified. Strip from me every notion, philosophy, confusion, and doctrine that is not from You. Teach me Thy ways dear LORD from You written Word which You have magnified even above Your name. Bless my study of it and may the constitution of my heart be pure Scripture. I love You LORD Jesus. Modern church wolves refuse to preach the original Gospel of Jesus Christ from the pages of Holy Scripture and in the power of the Holy Ghost. No, instead they preach sermonettes that cater to the self-worshiping idolaters they entertain and collect money from (2 Timothy 3:1-7). They don’t even use the King James Bible but rather some cheap counterfeit. Their ear-tickling topics range from healing damaged emotions, 5 love languages, best life now, recovery, learning to love yourSELF, coping platitudes, loneliness, psychobabble band aids, law of attraction, being a successful single, purpose driven delusionment, etc.

LOTS of lying going on when we have counterfeits peddling affirmation without salvation, the “promise” of things “getting better” when their prey are heading straight to hell. Especially certain social media platforms are flooded with this false gospel coming out of “Christians.” There is no sin or repentance in their message which alone identifies it as a false gospel. In the modern church world, there is …..

No cross. No Jesus. No blood. No judgment. No sin. No repentance. No hell. No readiness for the soon return of Jesus. No Heaven. No equipping preparation for ministry. No Scripture memory. No holiness. No Messianic prophecies and their fulfillment. No Christology. No fear of God. No repentance. etc., all of which are Bible doctrines essential to salvation and/or essential to sound foundation in Christ and are missing in the modern church world.

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15

The only reason we, each of us has been deceived in the past is due to our own biblical ignorance (Proverbs 24:5; Hosea 4:6; 2 Timothy 2:15). Lacking the knowledge of the Word, we didn’t see what they were LEAVING OUT. We didn’t know to discern what they were teaching and what they were NOT teaching. Now, as we grow in the knowledge of the LORD through diligent daily study of His Word, we know to look for the cardinal doctrines of the Christian faith.

When’s the last time you heard verses like this in the modern church?

“So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:33

“Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.” Luke 17:33

The modern church is going down in flames into the flames of hell. It cannot be reformed. Come out from it.

“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Revelation 18:4

In 2 Timothy 4:3 to “endure sound doctrine” means to hold oneself accountable to it. WHAT’s at the root of those who refuse to “endure sound doctrine”? – They simply do not love Jesus like He commanded them to (Matthew 22:37-39). They profess Christ as Savior and yet love self supremely and therefore serve the god of self. The Holy Ghost through Paul told us this of those who have a mere “form of godliness” in the last day resumé found in 2 Timothy 3:1-7.

Notice by divine design the very first thing he reveals is that “men shall be lovers of their own selves.” All the following evil comes out of self love, refusal to love God supremely and therefore repent, deny self, take up the cross and follow Jesus:

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 2 Timothy 3:1-7

God is toppling all the heart idols (Ezekiel 14:3)… because He’s Jealous and wants us looking to Him and not these mere men, these vile wolves, these celebrity sinners posing as His representatives (Exodus 34:14).

God Himself personally sends a “strong delusion” to all who do not love His truth so that they WILL believe lies. He greases their pole to hell. That’s how personally He takes it when people call Him a liar by not believing His Word.
