The God fearing parent will infuse their children daily with the Word of God KJB.

There are eternal things, the things of Christ’s kingdom, to instill in our children. These are infinitely more important than getting a worldly education for your children. Do we not see the results of a generation of “Christian” parents who spent their time, lives, and energy to lay up money to “educate” their children in this world’s “higher learning” institutions only to lose them to the enemy of souls? Unreal!

Prepare your children for godliness here and eternity with Christ.

Read God’s Word with your children – the King James Bible.

Memorizing Scripture with your children!

“Let thine heart RETAIN my words.” Proverbs 4:4

ANY parent not teaching literal Holy Scripture to their children today, is out of God’s will (Proverbs 22:6).

Teach, demonstrate to your children what is godly-by what you say and do.

“The character of your children tomorrow depends on what you put into their hearts today.” Liza Young

Readers are leaders and perhaps much of what we do as parents is whet the appetite of our children for that which is godly and good. Among men, our words are most weighty with our children. As adults, each of us is largely a product of what our earthly parents spoke into our ears. And now as an adult, that which our heavenly Father is speaking via His Word into our lives. The privilege and opportunity window we are given by God to help direct and mold our children, is nothing short of amazing.

There are what we can call biblical power words. It’s important to teach your children using these words which will never leave them, the whole of their lives on this planet:

  • Christ
  • the cross-laying down ones life as did Christ
  • truth
  • love
  • sin
  • holiness
  • sanctity of human life
  • confession of all sin
  • the essential of maintaining a clean heart before the LORD
  • godliness
  • integrity
  • honesty
  • upright
  • contribute – jump in, serve, make a difference (ABS = ALWAYS Be Serving)
  • respect for all
  • elder respect
  • helping others
  • serving God and others
  • fearing God
  • obedience to God’s authority
  • courtesy
  • edification of others
  • fellowship
  • restitution
  • stewardship
  • politeness
  • consistency
  • mercy
  • forgiveness
  • grace
  • return of Jesus

Though I didn’t grow up in a Christian home, my dad taught us many things good, including consistency. When we wanted to join a sports team he told us that if we were going to start we WERE going to finish and not quit. Isn’t this kin to enduring to the end, persevering, never giving up but rather forging forth in God’s enabling grace, no matter what?

Also, my wonderful father, when training us to automatically DO what is right, used methods that included repetition. As children we’d leave the door open when walking outside. So, my father would have us walk out or in and out of the door and close it 10 times until it became habit. Habitually uprightness can spring from this method. When the Bible says to “Train up a child” it’s speaking of a rigorous course or regiment to instill righteousness or right doing.

Parents-You better get real, quickly! You only have 1 opportunity to train up your child!

One disciple writes: “When we were growing up…we spent many weekend nights with Grandma and Grandpa. EVERY time, at bedtime… Grandpa would say, “Y’all ready for prayer?” He said it that way, but we knew we had no choice. We all gathered around their bed and prayed. Most times, I’ll be honest, I fell asleep. But it was a beautiful, comforting sound to hear my grandpa cry and pour his soul out praying for each one of us by name. My grandmother would more than likely go into her heavenly language , crying as well, talking to God. We did the same thing at home with Mom and Dad. It’s a wonderful thing to hear your daddy weep before God. I remember a few times, during the day even , walking in on my mother on her knees by her bed. I would slowly back out for reverence. I felt I was intruding on Holy ground. I hope I leave the same legacy for my children. I have failed quiet often, but I am working on following their examples, in these areas at least.”

The greatest heritage we give our children is God’s Word.

“Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.” Psalms 119:111

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Hebrew for “Train up”:

H2596
חָנַךְ
chânak
khaw-nak’
A primitive root; properly to narrow (compare H2614); figuratively to initiate or discipline: – dedicate, train up.

To “Train up” our children we must repetitiously instill in them what is right. Training up carries with its definition a continual, perpetual teaching and not just a one time instruction.

Concerning Scripture memorization with your children, Gary Skinner writes:

I should have done exactly that, I played the fool for too many years and am paying for it.”

Thank God for parents who truly love – by chastening, spanking when needed. Only un-loving God-less parents hate their children by not spanking them when needed!

“He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.” Proverbs 13:24

Are you truly training up your children to respect authority, to please God?

ARE you training up your children to be church-goers or daily disciples?

Laboring Fervently for Christ’s Body [podcast]

“Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. 13  For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.” Colossians 4:12-13

One source notes:

“Epaphras’ prayer is a powerful New Testament model of intercession found in Colossians 4:12. As the founder of the church in Colossae, Epaphras is described by the Apostle Paul as “wrestling” or “laboring earnestly” in prayer so that his congregation would stand mature, firm, and fully assured in the will of God.”

Jesus Heals the Paralytic Man who was Dropped Down to Him from the Roof

Mark 2

“1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

2  And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

3  And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

4  And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

5  When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

6  But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

7  Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

8  And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

9  Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

10  But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

11  I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

12  And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.” Mark 2:1-12

Abiding Under the Shadow of the Almighty [podcast]

Lord, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke. 16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:  Jeremiah 15:15-16

Dwelling “in the secret place of the most High”

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2  I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Psalms 91:1-2

“In the secret place of the Most High – Spoken probably in reference to the Holy of holies. He who enters legitimately there shall be covered with the cloud of God’s glory – the protection of the all-sufficient God. This was the privilege of the high priest only, under the law: but under the new covenant all believers in Christ have boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus; and those who thus enter are safe from every evil.” Adam Clarke

“[Psalms] 91:1, 2 Jesus is the One who in a preeminent way dwelt in the secret place of the Most High, and abode under the shadow of the Almighty. There never was a life like His. He lived in absolute, unbroken fellowship with God, His Father. He never acted in self-will but did only those things that the Father directed. Though He was perfect God, He was also perfect Man, and He lived His life on earth in utter and complete dependence on God. Without equivocation He could look up and say, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in Him I will trust.” Believer’s Bible Commentary
