The LORD’s People are “A Special People unto Himself”

Beloved of God, as you read through God’s Word, devouring it daily, keep a close look out for what our LORD says of His people. The Bible verses in this post are a mere sampling.

“For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. 7 The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: 8 But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. … 14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.” Deuteronomy 7:6-8, 14

THE ULTIMATE PRICE WAS PAID FOR YOU TO BE GOD’S “PECULIAR (special) TREASURE”

“Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a PECULIAR TREASURE unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:” Exodus 19:5

“For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his PECULIAR TREASURE.” Psalms 135:4

Beloved, you are bought with Christ’s precious blood – “be ye not the servants of men” (1 Corinthians 7:23).

“Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.” 1 Corinthians 7:23

Isaiah says:

“Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?” Isaiah 2:22

Why do we seek from mere man what God alone can grant? Who’s your daddy?

“And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba (Daddy), Father.” Galatians 4:6

Jeremiah says:

“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.” Jeremiah 17:5

You are created by, called to come to, and belong at the feet of Christ Jesus and no other, beloved. “Come unto me” saith the LORD! See Matthew 11:28-30; Psalms 27:4, 8.

“Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine.” John 21:12

Your life, your relationship with the Father and Christ is not centered around anything except His holy, eternal throne – not some man’s pulpit, ministry, etc.! Park yourself, your whole life and being at HIS feet and give glory to no other!

“A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.” Jeremiah 17:12

WHERE’s that throne, WHERE is your headquarters beloved?

Seems so many “ministries” today have usurpingly set themselves up and crowned themselves as king and as He did through Jeremiah, God says “my people love to have it so” (Jeremiah 5:31; 1 Samuel 8). Beware. They do nothing to teach and foster in their hearers a love for the LORD Himself. Paul says they are “NOT holding the Head” – that is they are not upholding Christ and Creator, Redeemer, KING (Colossians 2:18-19)! Read Colossians 1 and 2. Pay close attention.

Is your life in Christ flourishing truly, is your fervency to seek, love, worship, and obey Jesus growing as a result of that ministry? Or, are you still lukewarm, unfruitful, and just another pawn of that enterprise?

“That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and TRULY OUR FELLOWSHIP IS WITH THE FATHER, AND WITH HIS SON JESUS CHRIST.” 1 John 1:3

Jesus came and died “to bring us to God” – to His feet, to His throne, to His heart, to His eternal family – not some man’s enterprise (1 Peter 3:18).

You are HIS beloved and belong to no other:

“And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” 2 Corinthians 5:15

Satan uses his “MANY false prophets” – his fake preachers, who pose as Christ’s representatives – to snare your eternal soul. This is his last line of defense against you going to glory instead of hell (Matthew 24:11; 2 Corinthians 2:11; 11:12-15; 1 Peter 5:8).

Nothing here negates the divine ordination of certain men to feed, equip, and bless His saints. Yet the sheep are CHRIST’s sheep, not man’s. No sinful man died for the sins of those precious eternal souls. No man qualified. Christ alone single-handedly accomplished redemption – “Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had BY HIMSELF purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high (Hebrews 1:2-3).

The kingdom of God – here, in Heaven, and in eternity – is all about KING Jesus and no other.

Revelation 4:11
“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

Revelation 5:13
“And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.”

Again, in Holy Scripture “peculiar” means special, and is a term of endearment used to convey to us that God’s treasure is His beloved people.

Titus 2:14
“Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

1 Peter 2:9
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a PECULIAR (special) PEOPLE; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ Name, thanking You afresh for Your precious gift of Christ and His perfect sacrifice for my sins and the sins of the whole world. Thank You LORD Jesus. I love You. Please let me be more and more one with You according to Your very prayer in John 17. Have Your perfect way in me dear LORD. I am all Yours. Into Thine hands I commend, I submit my spirit right this moment. In Jesus’ Name.

Laboring Fervently for Christ’s Body [podcast]

“Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. 13  For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.” Colossians 4:12-13

One source notes:

“Epaphras’ prayer is a powerful New Testament model of intercession found in Colossians 4:12. As the founder of the church in Colossae, Epaphras is described by the Apostle Paul as “wrestling” or “laboring earnestly” in prayer so that his congregation would stand mature, firm, and fully assured in the will of God.”

Jesus Heals the Paralytic Man who was Dropped Down to Him from the Roof

Mark 2

“1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

2  And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

3  And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

4  And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

5  When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

6  But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

7  Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

8  And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

9  Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

10  But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

11  I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

12  And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.” Mark 2:1-12

Abiding Under the Shadow of the Almighty [podcast]

Lord, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke. 16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:  Jeremiah 15:15-16

Dwelling “in the secret place of the most High”

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2  I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Psalms 91:1-2

“In the secret place of the Most High – Spoken probably in reference to the Holy of holies. He who enters legitimately there shall be covered with the cloud of God’s glory – the protection of the all-sufficient God. This was the privilege of the high priest only, under the law: but under the new covenant all believers in Christ have boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus; and those who thus enter are safe from every evil.” Adam Clarke

“[Psalms] 91:1, 2 Jesus is the One who in a preeminent way dwelt in the secret place of the Most High, and abode under the shadow of the Almighty. There never was a life like His. He lived in absolute, unbroken fellowship with God, His Father. He never acted in self-will but did only those things that the Father directed. Though He was perfect God, He was also perfect Man, and He lived His life on earth in utter and complete dependence on God. Without equivocation He could look up and say, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in Him I will trust.” Believer’s Bible Commentary
