Path of the Heart

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:21

“Jesus says, ‘For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’ This verse seems to indicate that the way a believer spends money may be the clearest indication—perhaps like a thermometer—of the heart’s spiritual condition. If that is the case, then one might conclude that if one does not give money to the church to help others, one falls into the category of those who do not have the fruits that ought to accompany the presence of grace in their lives. And if the tree is not bearing fruit, is the root itself good?” — John Ronsvalle, American Researcher

According to the Matchless Savior, our hearts are being led in the direction that our money is being paid out/directed. Based upon this divine nugget given by our LORD, some Bible teachers have correctly stated: Show me a person’s checkbook and I will show you the priorities of his life and where his affections are.

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 1 John 2:15-17

If a person’s heart is empty and conscience unclear, he may want to examine his giving record. When we don’t give at least the tenth part to the LORD’s all-important work, our hearts follow where we are spending the revenues entrusted to us. If that is not first to the LORD, it is to the world. Where is your heart being led? The flow of our money will bring with it the affections of our hearts.

Did you realize that the essential fear of the LORD is instilled and nurtured when we honor Him by giving the first part of what we earn to His work?

“Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year. And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.” Deuteronomy 14:22-23

Placing our monies into the wrong venues/hands will lead to backsliding of heart (Malachi).

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” James 4:4

Givers live happy lives because they have clear consciences and are filled with the joy of giving and continuing to establish that what they have in their possession is not theirs but Gods. “increase the fruits of your righteousness;) Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.” (2 Cor. 9:10)

The hearts of those who give are following where they are placing their revenues – into the glorious Gospel of Christ, where the joy of the LORD abounds. The secret to joyful living is in giving. Givers are glad and the selfish are sad.

    • “The principal hindrance to the advancement of the kingdom of God is greed. It is the chief obstacle to heaven-sent revival. It seems that when the back of greed is broken, the human spirit soars into regions of unselfishness. I believe that it is safe to say there can be no continuous revival without ‘hilarious’ giving. And I fear no contradiction: wherever there is ‘hilarious’ giving there will soon be revival!” — O.S. Hawkins, U.S. Baptist pastor

Correct stewardship leads to the joy of the LORD.

If the FIRST portion of all the monies we receive go to the Gospel, so our hearts will prioritize and be engrossed in the Gospel of Christ. The same is true for worldly things – our hearts follow where our monies are being directed. This is simply how things work according to divine wisdom. Follow His wisdom and joy and blessings will result. Selah.

    • “The world asks, ‘What does a man own?’ Christ asks, ‘How does he use it?’ ” — Andrew Murray (1828-1917), South African evangelist and writer

One thing is for sure, the tither lives happy as a result of his obedience to the LORD. He has a clear conscience. The non-tither (thief) has an unclear conscience, even if he has much money to live on – he can’t even enjoy what he has whether that be little or much because he is stealing what is God’s.

    • “Liberality in giving is a good sign of a genuine revival.” — Thomas E. Peck (1822-93), American preacher and writer

Thank the LORD that today is a new day beloved! “His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:21 (life-changing memory verse)

Giving is the beginning of revival! Give the LORD you claim to serve what is rightfully His. Set yourself to obey the LORD right this moment. “Break off thy sins by righteousness (by doing what is right).” Daniel 4:27

Do you want change? Do you want bountiful blessings from the LORD? Do what is right in His sight concerning the monies you bring in, and He promises to pour you out blessings you cannot contain (Mal. 3:8-11).

Get your checkbook out and deal in truthful obedience to the LORD by tithing where you are being fed (Gal. 6:6). Remember, our LORD told us that the kingdom of God is within us and that His house is a “spiritual house” (Lk. 17:21; 1 Pet. 2:5). This obedience will strike your heart with fear of the LORD, which is clean (Ps 19:9).

WHY IS THE KING JAMES VERSION CALLED THE “AUTHORIZED VERSION”?

Excerpt from “Answers To Your Bible Version Questions”

Question: Why is the King James Bible called the “Authorized Version”? How did King James Authorize it?

Answer: Despite stories to the contrary, King James, in no uncertain terms, clearly authorized the translation of the Bible that now bears his name.

[Note: This is a drastically shortened account of the birth of God’s preserved words in English. Longer accounts are available, as in Final Authority: A Christian’s Guide to the King James Bible, by William P. Grady.]

Sanctioning the Authorized Version

When Elizabeth died on April 1, 1603, she had seen 130 editions of the New Testament and the Bible published during her 45 years as Queen of England. James VI of Scotland, son of Mary, “Queen of Scots,” became James I of England.

Four days later, on his way to London, a delegation of Puritan ministers met James, asking him to hear their grievances against the Church of England. James consented, and on January of 1604, four Puritans came to express their troubles at Hampton Court, in front of King James and over 50 Anglican (Church of England) officials. One by one each request was rejected, until the Puritan group’s leader, John Rainolds said these famous words:

“May your Majesty be pleased to direct that the Bible be now translated, [since] such versions as are extant [are] not answering to the original.”

At first, Bishop Bancroft of London was dead-set against it, saying, “If every man’s humor might be followed, there would be no end to translating.” But the King made it clear he liked the idea. Not too long later Bancroft wrote this to a friend:

I move you in his majesty’s name that, … no time may be overstepped by you for the better furtherance of this holy work…. You will scarcely conceive how earnest his majesty is to have this work begun!

When this Bible was translated, the title page was printed basically as you find it today in Cambridge Bibles:

HOLY BIBLE

The King James Bible was “Authorized” to be translated as God’s Word for the English-speaking people of the world. God bless you as you study His authorized and preserved words in English, the King James Bible.

The Imperative of Private Prayer [podcast]

We must be aware of our prayers we throw up while they have no congruence with our personal life – when they are shot gun prayers void of the foundation of private prayer, private praying, and holy living.

Private prayer with God is an essential to set your life up for success.

“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” Matthew 6:6

Private prayer is essential to the disciple. Jesus reveals here that those who seek His face in prayer privately, will be used of Him publicly!

Are you at Christ’s feet? Do you live a life of prayer? Have you ever studied the life of Christ and beheld the many instances of His prayer life?

“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” Mark 1:35

“Solitary” simply means uninhabited.

If we want to assess our true spiritual state with God, we need only look to our prayer life or lack thereof. Show me a man’s prayer life, and I will show you who that man is! When God is truly first in a person’s life, all else will be demoted in importance!

“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” Revelation 2:4-5

Backsliding begins with neglect of our relationship, our prayer life, our life of prayer with our LORD and Savior.

“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41

I will either pray my way into glory, or I will not be there. Matthew 26:41

“Hebrews 10:22 “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.” This is how we are to come to God in prayer and fellowship. With a true, (honest) heart. That has been washed in the pure blood of Jesus! Confessing our sins so our conscience is clear. And we are cleansed from the filthiness of the flesh. Then we can come boldly before the throne of grace! Hebrews 4:16.” Karen Cochran

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I return to You now. Please forgive my sin of prayerlessness. Break me LORD. In Jesus’ name, amen.
