“O God, thou knowest MY FOOLISHNESS; and MY SINS are not hid from thee.” Psalms 69:5

David spoke of “my sins.” This means he was taking full responsibility for them before God, from whom nothing can be hidden anyway.

The psalmist honestly acknowledged and openly declared his sins before God. He sought to hide nothing.

“For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.” Psalms 38:18

God can work with honesty but will not bless or save into eternal glory the dishonest.

Are we beginning to see why God says of David that he is a “man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.”

“I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.” Acts 13:22

God can work with anyone who will be honest before Him.

“But that on the good ground are they, which in an HONEST and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.” Luke 8:15

Honesty means we never hide from accountability, we never deny our sin or try to cover it but that we always forthrightly declare and confess it before God……and forsake it.

“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13

God cannot and will not work with a dishonest person.

God will bless those who choose to be transparent, to be honest before Him…..

“having no part dark” Luke 11:36

Today you can choose to decide and to declare that you will not have any part dark, no darkness in your heart and life.

“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:15-16

What church, what people is Jesus returning for?

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:25-27

Do we love God more than our sin and darkness?

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” John 3:19-21

We must refuse to attempt to hide in darkness but rather come to the light as did our brother and example, David.

“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5

Isn’t it just better to admit when we are wrong, to openly admit we are not sinless perfection but rather utterly, perpetually in need of God’s grace?

Are you deciding to be honest in all things? Are you cultivating an honest heart before the LORD? Read Proverbs 28:13; Luke 8:15.

God knew the wickedness of David’s heart and the hearts of all men (Jeremiah 17:9).

For EVERYTHING God commands us to be and do He grants the grace to be that way and do that thing. The LORD grants us divine enablement to be and do all that He desires and instructs us to be and do. For this reason there is no excuse for any sin in your life.

“For he that is dead is freed from sin.” Romans 6:7

Prayer: Father, in Jesus’ name, grant this heart to be honest. Remove every trace of deceit. May my heart be pure in Your holy eyes, a purity that You alone can bring. Father, please teach me to be crucified with Christ, daily. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
