Abiding
Continuing in Grace and Faith [podcast]
QUESTION:
“When is salvation (saved) ? At the end of life or at the point of belief?”
REPLY:
Great question: Salvation happens immediately (John 6:47) and yet there is both INITIAL and FINAL salvation – after being saved, one must continue in, “abide in” Christ, to “endure to the end” to be saved into glory (Matthew 10:22; 24:13; Col. 1:22-23; Heb. 3:12-14; 10:26-39, etc.).
Christ nor His holy apostles never once taught a “once saved always saved” message which is a heresy that grossly contradicts the faith of the original Gospel. They never once told anyone they were “eternally secure.” When returning to preach to the towns where the LORD had saved souls. Notice these words from Paul and how he exhorted those believe to “continue in the faith” which is the same as Jesus saying “he that endureth to the end shall be saved.” (Matthew 10:22)
“Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.” Acts 14:22
Jesus taught that only those who obey Him prove their saving faith in Him – will be with Him in eternity. – “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOETH the will of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21) If saving faith which always includes practical obedience is not required, why did the Son of God utter these words?
It’s not a denial that believers sin but rather an acknowledging of the need for continually returning to Christ in repentance, denial of self, learning the cross, personal holiness by way of the grace of God and the crucified life, and confession of all sin (1 John 1:3-10).
Memorize 1 John 1:7 today.
Let’s talk about what real saving grace looks like. Read Titus 2:11-12.
“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;” Titus 2:11-12
Dear OSAS fairy tale believer: Grace is given to overcome sin and not to justify it. Those who teach OSAS are telling you how to use God’s grace for a license to sin while the Word continually calls His people to “give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:” (2 Peter 1:10)
Whenever God commands something, He also provides the grace for it to manifest in your life – as you are submitted to Him (James 4:6-10; 1 Peter 4:10-11). His grace, divine enablement, operational power, is always sufficient to bring His perfect will to pass in our lives and to bring us through any and all difficulties, grueling seasons we may find ourselves in! (2 Corinthians 9:8; 12:9-10; 1 Peter 5:10)
Jesus nor His apostles taught OSAS…. in fact their teachings overtly contradict this eternal security teaching taught by wolves today – just like it was in the days of the prophets (Jeremiah 23:17).
The abiding, enduring to the end with Jesus wise virgin saint lives according to God’s Word and not the lies of Satan’s modern day wolves who teach “eternal security”…. The authentic disciple acknowledges his need to ….
- To “perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (2 Corinthians 7:1)
- To “endure to the end” to be ultimately saved into glory (Matthew 10:22; 24:13)
- To repent as often as need because Jesus is coming back for a church that is “spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”… “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” (Ephesians 5:25-27)
- That God’s grace was given in salvation for him to overcome all sin and not to use it as an excuse to live in sin lest he be damned (Titus 2:11-12; Jude 3-4).
- That sin must be confessed to be remitted (1 John 1:9).
- Walking in the light of truth is essential to ongoing forgiveness (1 John 1:7).
- To overcome all sin as a condition to being with Jesus eternally and not cast into hell (Revelation 2-3).
- To cut off the and pluck out the eye lest our whole bodies be cast into hell – overcome all sin by rejecting it or perish (Mark 9:43-49)
- To remain on fire for Christ lest he be spued or rejected from Christ in the end (Revelation 3:15-16).
Those who get saved and then don’t “abide” remain in Christ to the end will be damned eternally and it’s going to be worse than if they’d never known Christ – Luke 8:13; 2 Peter 2:20-21; Ezekiel 33:12-13.
3 Essential Basics for Every Believer Per Holy Scripture
1. Daily Bible study (Job 23:12; Jer 15:16; 1 Pet 2:2)
2. Daily life of prayer (1 Thess 5:17)
3. Daily fellowship with other true believers (Acts 2:42-47; Heb 3:13; 10:25)
“Conveniently, deceitfully, the word ‘continue’ has a different meaning and understanding to the greedy, covetous, and beguiled who love this sinful world. To be saved necessitates to continue, abide, till the end or be eternal lost.” Timothy Zango
There heresy of OSAS (“once saved always saved”) teaches men to use divine grace as an excuse to sin (Jude 3-4).
