“The earth is the Lord’s (not ours), and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” Psalms 24:1

Some among us are still deceived into thinking they own things in this earth – their house, their vehicles, etc. Some even imagine that they own themselves, but what does the counsel of God say?

By reason of creation, WHO owns all souls and who owns the future of all souls?

“Behold, all souls are mine …” Ezekiel 18:4

How did you come into this world and how shall you leave?

“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 1 Timothy 6:7

“And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job 1:21

What will you leave the earth with?

What will your children leave this earth with?

The only thing you will have when you leave – or don’t have – is Christ and what you have done for His glory. Let’s read the lyrics to an old hymn penned and be reminded of the brevity of this earthly life and what great bliss lies ahead exclusively for the overcomers:

My Hope is Built

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Recently, one lady in her mid 20’s wrote this:

I try to always be considerate of others … I listened to my mom when she told me that the world doesn’t revolve around me.”

This is a great  admission and revelation. It should encourage us all as Christ’s disciples and as parents who desire God’s will for our children.

In reality, we do not own ourselves or anything in this world. It’s all on loan from the only One who owns it all and He is coming back to take account for our stewardship of what He allowed to come into our possession.Giving of ourselves and what is currently under our care is vital to following Jesus who gave all (John 3:16). To underscore the divinely-communicated importance of stewardship, let us understand that faith is spoke of 500 times in the Bible but stewardship is spoken of over 2,000 times.

Have you told your children lately that the world does not revolve around them? We should teach our children God’s Word and how to walk with Christ who came and gave all of Himself to redeem all of us and said “It is MORE BLESSED to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)

When he was only about 3-4 years old, I began teaching my son this blessed truth/verse – “It is more blessed to GIVE than to receive.” (Acts 20:35) I would joyfully stand over him and say “Jesus says “It is morrrrreee blessed to give than to receive…. Acts 20 verse 35.” As a result he had this verse memorized before he was 5 years old. Saints, I simply communicate this to encourage you to be busy about training your children up in the ways, fear, and admonition of our LORD. THIS is their heritage – their only eternal, lasting heritage!

Giving ourselves to the LORD who bought us with His blood is exactly what He is calling you and I to do today, afresh.

It is easily observable that the most “miserable” people in the world are self-serving, pride-filled souls. Like the Laodiceans whom Jesus addressed, some of them have everything this world has to offer and yet have nothing of substance – zilch (Revelation 3:14-21). Why? They don’t have the “Prince of Peace,”who is Jesus Christ (Isaiah 9:6-7). Like those in Laodicea, many of those today who are rich in this fleeting world, are  “wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” (Revelation 3:17)

God is calling us to die down deep into the death of Christ, laying down our lives and being swallowed up of His blessed divine life. It is then that the reality of our frailty and His omnipotence begins to dawn on our feeble understanding. In light of this, we should begin serving our Maker, the Owner of our souls and all souls, by following Him in the laying down of our daily lives. Only then will our lives revolve around the King of all kings and LORD of all lords, even Jesus Christ.

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.” Colossians 3:1-4

Abiding Under the Shadow of the Almighty [podcast]

Lord, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke. 16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:  Jeremiah 15:15-16

Dwelling “in the secret place of the most High”

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2  I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Psalms 91:1-2

“In the secret place of the Most High – Spoken probably in reference to the Holy of holies. He who enters legitimately there shall be covered with the cloud of God’s glory – the protection of the all-sufficient God. This was the privilege of the high priest only, under the law: but under the new covenant all believers in Christ have boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus; and those who thus enter are safe from every evil.” Adam Clarke

“[Psalms] 91:1, 2 Jesus is the One who in a preeminent way dwelt in the secret place of the Most High, and abode under the shadow of the Almighty. There never was a life like His. He lived in absolute, unbroken fellowship with God, His Father. He never acted in self-will but did only those things that the Father directed. Though He was perfect God, He was also perfect Man, and He lived His life on earth in utter and complete dependence on God. Without equivocation He could look up and say, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in Him I will trust.” Believer’s Bible Commentary

Attend to My Words [podcast]

IF THE WORD isn’t flowing into you daily, you are falling away. Flood and fuel your heart and mind and body with the pure, the holy light of God’s Word daily and you will never famish! All darkness will be vanquished (Psalms 119:130). All who have been saved and yet aren’t in God’s Word and prayer daily – have rejected Christ, with no exception. Re-turn to the LORD prodigal. There’s no good outside of Christ the KING.

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” Psalms 119:130

ALL who are not in God’s written Word daily are not hearing from God, do not have God’s wisdom and direction, and are walking in darkness – 100%.

The feeding of Christ’s flock would integrally involve exhorting them to diligently study and walk in God’s Word themselves, daily (John 21:15-17). Isn’t this exactly what the apostle Paul told Timothy to do? Yes. He told his understudy to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

One of the ways we know who the false ministers are, is that they want people dependent on THEM, not God. So, they don’t constantly exhort the people to get into God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures, for themselves. Run.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8

“He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. … My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. 23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:4, 20-23

“Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16

“Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” Job 23:12

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16

“Over the last 5-10 years I can see where He has done this for me already, but the problem is …. it’s not enough! I want even more! One hour of study and prayer in the morning is not enough!” Christine
