The Sanctified, Cleansed Church Jesus is Returning For [podcast]

Some would foolishly say that Christ can't return yet because that which claims to be His church is not purified but rather is dirty. A more ridiculous, erroneous statement could not be made. Jesus repeatedly referred to His remnant as being "few" and that His body of believers is a "little flock." (Matthew 7:13-14; 9:35-38; Luke 12:32) Furthermore, Jesus warned us all to "Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not." (Luke 12:40) Read Luke 12:35-40 which records Jesus' warning to prepare, to live ready to meet Him at His eminent return which will come as a thief in the night, when most will not be expecting Him (1 Thessalonians 5:2; 2 Peter 3:10). It shall come as a trap - "as a snare (trap) shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man." (Luke 21:34-36)

“Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.” John 15:3

When God is speaking to His obedient disciple, though the ingestion of His words, there is a continual cleansing – “with the washing of water by the word” (Ephesians 5:26). This is not happening unless one is truly continuing with Christ via His Word. Each and every abiding disciple of Jesus relishes, diligently devours, and lives by His words (John 8:31-32).

“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17

Christ makes it clear here that sanctification occurs in every abiding disciple of Jesus “through thy truth” which is His Word. In the divine economy, the truth and the Word are synonymous.

Let’s talk about the church, the people Jesus is coming for:

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:25-27

Christ gave Himself for the church (5:25)

  • Will sanctify the church (5:26)
  • Will present the church (5:27)
  • Nourishes the church (5:29)
  • Cherishes the church (5:29)

You must “desire the sincere milk of the word” and feed your spirit the Word of God daily or you will grow weak very quickly and fall away (1 Peter 2:2). Jesus calls us to be “Nourished up in the words of eternal life” (1 Timothy 4:16).

Psalms 51

Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God

1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2  Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3  For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

4  Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

5  Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

6  Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

7  Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8  Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9  Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10  Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

11  Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

12  Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

13  Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

14  Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

15  O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

16  For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

17  The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

18  Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

19  Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
