Divine Comfort, Care, and Protection

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalms 91:1

In this chapter God paints the picture of His oversight, His divine watch care, His provision and His protection over His beloved people. Each verse is this amazing chapter is inseparable connected to and anchored in the very first verse – which is the divine thesis statement for the whole chapter. As is the divine case made throughout Holy Scripture, it’s all about relationship! See also Jeremiah 17:12, John 17:3, and Philippians 3:10.

Read Psalm 91. GOD made this very creature/bird (pictured) for the express purpose of showing us how much He loves us and how He comforts, cares and provides for, and protects His own (Ps 91:1).

“He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.” Psalms 91:4

As the bird covers its chicks under its wings for warmth and protection, so God covers His children – those who choose to “dwelleth in the secret place of the most high,” taking refuge under the shadow of His wings (Psalms 91:1). GOD made the “winged fowl” (birds) for the express purpose of showing His highest creation – mankind – how much He loves us and how He comforts, cares and provides for, and protects His own (Genesis 1:21; Psalms 91:1).

Read Psalm 91 and make it a passage you revisit often so that the truth of it begins to permeate your whole disposition. Here the LORD uses the imagery of His “winged fowl” creation (Genesis 1:21). GOD made this very creature/bird for the express purpose of showing us how much He loves us and how He comforts, cares and provides for, and protects His own (Psalms 91:1).

One of the main reasons and perhaps the very reason the LORD created birds, was to demonstrate to us in tangible form, just how much He loves and cares for His children. You and I have NO earthly idea how much He loves us …. not a clue!

The LORD created this very species (birds) for perhaps many reasons and one was to show us exactly how much He loves us and protects, shelters, comforts, provides and cares for, and blesses His beloved children.

Speaking of His love and protection over His beloved children, here’s another picture He gives us in His blessed Word:

“As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.” Psalms 125:2

Those who attempt to do harm to the LORD’s people will be contended with by the Almighty Himself.

Isaiah 49:15 tells us: “for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.”

In fact, we are told by our LORD that He actually becomes the enemy and adversary to those who take up cause against His children:

“But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.” Exodus 23:22

Note the conditional key here in the above passage – obedience. – “IF thou shalt indeed obey his voice.”

With Job, the LORD’s children can say with all confidence:

“He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. 20 In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword. 21 Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh. 22 At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.” Job 5:19-22

Dare we break out those 7 “troubles” we all face that God promises to “deliver” us from? Let’s do it from the above passage:

“In famine he shall redeem thee from death”
“in war from the power of the sword”
“Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue”
“neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh” (no fear or terror)
“At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh”
“At … famine thou shalt laugh”
“neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.”

IF Satan is attacking, take cover! Memorize Proverbs 1:33 today.

I love what our LORD promises us in Proverbs 1:33:

“But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.” Proverbs 1:33

Does it interest you to “dwell safely, and (shall) be quiet from fear of evil”? Think upon this verse. Your life cannot remain the same, if you do.

The only way to “hearkeneth” to the LORD is to tend diligently and daily upon His blessed Precepts – to tuck our lives under the infinite shadow of His wings. It is in the comfort of His Word that we shall not be offended by anything, being possessed with the knowledge, the living revelation that He has all things under His care.

“For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:3

Safest Place: In the cross of Christ “your life is hid with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:3)

Our place of protection is in the love walk, with the LORD where we express our love for Him in obedience to Him.

“Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.” Psalms 17:4

Are you ready for some “Great peace”?

“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.” Psalms 119:165

The “Great peace” of God is exclusively reserved for those who love His Word. They will not be moved, afraid, or offended! They are settled in the unchanging divine love and Word of God.

The All-Encompassing, Predominant Love of God Upon His Children

“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:31-39

There is nothing that can separate us from His love. We did nothing to earn it, we can do nothing to keep it, and we shall experience it forever, if we abide with Christ to the end (John 15:1-6). In fact, Jude wrote that we must keep ourselves in God’s love:

“Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” Jude 21

In great gratitude, letting all concerns and desires known to our Father in humble prayer “requests” (“supplication”) is essential to experiencing the “peace … which passeth all understanding.”

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.” Philippians 4:6-9

Here, our LORD’s apostle instructs us to “think on these things”:

“whatsoever things are true”
“honest”
“just”
“pure”
“lovely”
“whatsoever things are of good report”
“if there be any virtue”
“if there be any praise”

This fixed gaze upon the LORD, setting Him always before our faces, is found throughout God’s Word and coincides with what Paul penned to the believers at Colosse, when He wrote:

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.” Colossians 3:1-4

Essential to readiness when Jesus returns, is to have the affections of our hearts set upon Him as we “seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.”

The key is to perpetually dwell “in the secret place of the most high,” never departing from His will and therefore His blessed, divine presence (Psalms 91:1). Therein – in the perfect place of fellowship with Christ, are all the blessings of God contained (2 Corinthians 1:30; Colossians 2:9-10, etc.).

“The secret of peace within and power without, is to be always and only occupied with Christ.” E. Schuyler

“For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. 4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.” Psalms 61:3-4

Joshua Cooper notes:

“Jesus Christ is our Peace, Protection and Provider, no matter what. So, get with Him, stay with Him, never depart from Him, and stay strong to the finish. We should all want to hear, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.’”

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.” Isaiah 26:3-4

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You so very much for loving me – for loving all of mankind. Thank You for finding and saving my wretched soul! Thank You for Your peace that passeth all understanding! I love You Jesus and thank You for coming to die for me – for my sins – so I could be brought into relationship with You and the Father. Thank You for finding and saving me and for all of your blessings, including Your peace, prosperity, and Your protection. In Jesus’ name. I humbly ask you to please use me to help others know you! In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

The Warnings of the Book of Jude [podcast]

“Reformed Theology“, is just a fancy way of saying ‘We know better than Paul, the old testament prophets, even David! And the very apostles who walked with Jesus must be unlearned men or liars.’ Nay, I will not say such a thing of my LORD and Saviour, Christ Jesus. Let God be true, and >every< man a liar.” Jonathan Crane

It’s “ungodly men” who mislead the gullible with the eternal security heresy, and the heretical doctrines and system of calvinism. Jude warned us of just that, as did the prophets (Jude 3-4; Jeremiah 23:17, etc.). Then Jude reminds us of God’s judgment upon His own covenant people who were saved out of Egypt (the world) and then “afterward destroyed.” Then Jude reminds us that God judged the angels, a third of them, who rebelled against Him and were terminated from His domain, Heaven (Isaiah 14:12-15; Luke 10:18; Revelation 12:7-12, etc.).

Judgment on False Teachers

3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

A Call to Persevere

17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:

23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Abiding

Attend to My Words [podcast]

IF THE WORD isn’t flowing into you daily, you are falling away. Flood and fuel your heart and mind and body with the pure, the holy light of God’s Word daily and you will never famish! All darkness will be vanquished (Psalms 119:130). All who have been saved and yet aren’t in God’s Word and prayer daily – have rejected Christ, with no exception. Re-turn to the LORD prodigal. There’s no good outside of Christ the KING.

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” Psalms 119:130

ALL who are not in God’s written Word daily are not hearing from God, do not have God’s wisdom and direction, and are walking in darkness – 100%.

The feeding of Christ’s flock would integrally involve exhorting them to diligently study and walk in God’s Word themselves, daily (John 21:15-17). Isn’t this exactly what the apostle Paul told Timothy to do? Yes. He told his understudy to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

One of the ways we know who the false ministers are, is that they want people dependent on THEM, not God. So, they don’t constantly exhort the people to get into God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures, for themselves. Run.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8

Gathering Fruit for Christ’s Eternal Glory [podcast]

IF you are truly born again, God has called you personally to participate in, to obey His Great Commission command— NOT to salvage any country in this fleeting world.

It’s amazing how many people claiming to be saved spend more time, energy, and money trying to save America than they do building up the body of Christ and evangelizing the lost. Anyone claiming to be saved and yet is not participating in the Great Commission command of Christ, is out of the will of God. Repentance needed.

Save America or See Jesus Save Eternal Souls?

“America is under God’s judgment for sure. And recently there was a golden statue made of Trump. And Pastors are praying over it. A golden calf. Same thing happened in the book of Exodus and God slew 3,000 men. This angers Him greatly! There will be a severe price to pay for this adultery! America is definitely going down at the divine judgment of God.” Karen Cochran

Forget saving America. Win souls. Preach the original Gospel to see eternal souls saved unto the LORD. See Mark 16:15-20; Matthew 28:18-20.

A good thing to ask proud Americans who claim they are Christians:

1. “When’s the last time you led someone to Jesus?”

2. “How much time and how much energy do you spend trying in vain to “save America” or “Make America Great Again” compared to the time and energy you spend learning, studying, and meditating on God’s Word and doing it – as in the Great Commission?”

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21

Anyone claiming to be Christ’s and yet is not doing, is not obeying His Great Commission mandate, is not in the will of God.

Regrettably, America is going down in judgment.

No efforts can undo the present reality of those claiming to know Christ refusing to truly repent, nor the 60 million innocent babies America has murdered in cold blood and called it “choice.”

Honoring something God calls “an abomination” brings “the curse of the LORD” upon any nation to do such. See Leviticus 18:22 and Proverbs 3:33. Sodomy is sin!

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21

Doing the will of the Father is executing the Great Commission Jesus gave us!

Jesus says act now! To put off His work is to put off Christ. Read that again!

“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62

Many aren’t putting off their own sinful, lust-filled agenda in the world, right?
