TWICE Dead, Plucked up by the Roots

MESSAGE RECEIVED:

“Only two births are possible. There are not three or four or ten. How many births have YOU experienced?

‘For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of GOD, not by works, so that no one can boast.’ (Eph. 2:8-9)

Again only 2 births are possible. Not a dozen.
How many times have you been saved?”

REPLY:

Not true. You are making things up here. Most who believe this lie, the myth of “eternal security,” discount volumes of Scripture in order to justify continuing to believe this lie. They are not honest and not men of truth (John 8:47).

Yes God saves men by grace as they agree with Him that they are a sinner and believe on the LORD Jesus. Yet falling from saving grace is possible (Galatians 5:4, etc.).

“Some shall depart from (leave) the faith…” 1 Timothy 4:1

The book of Jude is about apostates, those who were once right with God and then departed from Him – just as did Lucifer/Satan and a third of the angels of God, in Heaven.

“These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;” Jude 12

“TWICE dead, plucked up by the roots” – this plant/person was obviously planted in the LORD in order to twice die (birth and by sin after salvation) and couldn’t be plucked out of a ground they were not first planted in.

Fallen men are born in sin, separated from God (Romans 3:10, 23; 5:12, 18-19; 6:23). Then if Jesus saves him he is has life, not death. And then if he falls away again, he is then said to be “twice dead.”

Of Jude 1:12, John Wesley wrote:

“Twice dead – In sin, first by nature, and afterwards by apostasy. Plucked up by the roots – And so incapable of ever reviving.”

Concerning this verse, Adam Clarke wrote:

“Twice dead – First, naturally and practically dead in sin, from which they had been revived by the preaching and grace of the Gospel. Secondly, dead by backsliding or apostasy from the true faith, by which they lost the grace they had before received; and now likely to continue in that death, because plucked up from the roots, their roots of faith and love being no longer fixed in Christ Jesus. Perhaps the aorist is taken here for the future: They Shall Be plucked up from the roots – God will exterminate them from the earth.”

“BRETHREN, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him (reconversion); 20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.” James 5:19-20

If a Christian can “fall away” (Luke 8:13) and Jesus says they can, then that person must be restored to Christ or such a person will be damned to hell eternally and it will be worse than if he’d never known the LORD at all.

“For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.” 2 Peter 2:20-21

You refused to comment on the irrefutable fact of Satan’s first lie  led to the fall of man – the “Ye shall NOT surely die” lie where he added “not”…. this is the intro to OSAS, the doctrine of devils you are now peddling and won’t listen to biblical truth. Instead you seek to defy truth, to evade it with misleading questions…. instead of simply honestly searching the final divine authority of Holy Scripture…. which you are not interested in. This is just like the hell bound false leaders of whom Christ says they put aside, ignore the Word of God to keep their own heretical tradition (Mark 7:6-9, 13).

Regrettably, your goal is not to apprehend and know the truth but rather to defend your position.

John Wesley on Calvinism, Once Saved Always Saved, and Conditional Security

“People who deny that salvation can ever be lost, reason on the subject in a marvelous way. They tell us, that no virgin’s lamp can go out; no promising harvest be choked with thorns; no branch in Christ can ever be cut off from unfruitfulness; no pardon can ever be forfeited, and no name blotted out of God’s book! They insist that no salt can ever lose its savor; nobody can ever “receive the grace of God in vain”; “bury his talents”; “neglect such great salvation”; trifle away “a day of grace”; “look back” after putting his hand to the gospel plow. Nobody can “grieve the Spirit” till He is “quenched,” and strives no more, nor “deny the Lord that bought them”; nor “bring upon themselves swift destruction.” Nobody, or body of believers, can ever get so lukewarm that Jesus will spew them out of His mouth. They use reams of paper to argue that if one ever got lost he was never found. John 17:12; that if one falls, he never stood. Rom. 11:16-22 and Heb. 6:4-6; if one was ever “cast forth,” he was never in, and “if one ever withered,” he was never green. John 15:1-6; and that “if any man draws back,” it proves that he never had anything to draw back from. Heb. 10:38,39; that if one ever “falls away into spiritual darkness,” he was never enlightened. Heb 6:4-6; that if you “again get entangled in the pollutions of the world,” it shows that you never escaped. 2 Pet 2:20; that if you “put salvation away” you never had it to put away, and if you make shipwreck of faith, there was no ship of faith there!! In short they say: If you get it, you can’t lose it; and if you lose it you never had it. May God save us from accepting a doctrine that must be defended by such fallacious reasoning!”
