The Decisions we make Today will Determine our Tomorrow [podcast]

“Choose you this day whom ye will serve; … as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15

A prayer of the psalmist:

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalms 90:12

We shall all reap what we have sown.

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.  8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” Galatians 6:7-8

God sets “Life and Death, Blessing and Cursing” before each of us.

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: 20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.” Deuteronomy 30:19-20

On a certain day, Joshua stood and spoke to God’s people:

“And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you.” Joshua 3:5

If you are going to be “a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work”, you must participate in cleansing your life of everything that is not of God. Read this:

“If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” 2 Timothy 2:21

“Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. 11 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.” 1 Chronicles 16:10-11

Anyone claiming to be a follower of Jesus and who isn’t seeking His face “continually”, has nothing but a dead religious mere “form of godliness” and is one who is of those who are “lovers of their own selves … lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;” (2 Timothy 3:2-7)

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:1-2

Nothing big will begin in your life until you personally get into God’s Word for yourself. That’s what He is instructing you to do, in the words of Holy Scripture, in Paul’s charge to Timothy – “Study (you do it) to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

If the LORD can’t even trust a professing believer to be responsible enough to seek His holy face in His Word and prayer each morning as he awakes, how is He ever going to be able to trust that person with larger things concerning His kingdom? Parable of the talents, Matthew 25. Read and know it.

Speaking God’s Word is His instruction to us:

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8

“A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Proverbs 18:20-21

As we truly put God first in our lives, we will not worry about tomorrow because we have His promise to bless us today and tomorrow:

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Matthew 6:33-34

We must “sanctify” ourselves today to the blessed “wonders” Jesus will bring in our “to morrow”:

“And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you.” Joshua 3:5

View the following truth as something for you to personally do:

“Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God…” 1 Chronicles 22:19

The LORD promises to be “found” of all who “seek him”:

“If thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.” 1 Chronicles 28:9

Being restored to God and refreshed by Him, begins with our honestly admitting we have sinned, we have done things our own way and not God’s way, openly confessing our sinful rebellion against Him and asking His forgiveness.
