Jesus Compliments the Ephesians [podcast]

But then Jesus corrects them….

Here in His letter to the church at Ephesus, Jesus compliments the Ephesian believers for laboring for Him and discerning false leaders.

Then He says,

“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” Revelation 2:4-5

Is Jesus the very “first love”—the foremost burning love that consumes your life, everything you think, dwell on, and do?

When we begin to love the LORD, we are going to be full of His love for others.

“But if any man love God, the same is known of him.” 1 Corinthians 8:3

So, who is known of God?

Only those who choose to love God supremely, as their “first love.” The first priority of their lives will be with Him. He only calls them His own, they are “known of him” as His remnant saints which are said to be a “little flock” (Luke 12:32).

“If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also (compared to how much he loves Jesus—his first love), he cannot be my disciple. 27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:26-27

This is yet another hard truth that false teachers purposely dodge, ignore. Do no such thing beloved. It will cost your eternal soul. Are you ready to surrender afresh? Here you go. Seek Him with everything within you, right this moment beloved.

“No cross then all you have is religion! Jesus will never be deeply rooted and planted into your heart without it! You will walk around with a lot of head knowledge but no heart or love for Jesus, His people, or the lost. No relationship. Nothing more than a Pharisee, who knew Scriptures but did not know Jesus! Only knew of Him. Your life will still be all about self. In order to fully know Him and be known by Him, you must die, then He can be raised up in your heart and life! You will then want to live for Him and serve and love Him supremely! He will be your first love! Deuteronomy 6: 4-6, Matthew 22: 37-38, Mark 12:30.” Karen Cochran

Prayer: Dear LORD, this very moment, I return to You as my first love, the most important Person in my life. I lay my life in Your holy hands, right now, if never before. Please wash me of all sin. Cleanse me dear LORD. In Jesus’ name.
