But then Jesus corrects them….

Here in His letter to the church at Ephesus, Jesus compliments the Ephesian believers for laboring for Him and discerning false leaders.

Then He says,

“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” Revelation 2:4-5

Is Jesus the very “first love”—the foremost burning love that consumes your life, everything you think, dwell on, and do?

When we begin to love the LORD, we are going to be full of His love for others.

“But if any man love God, the same is known of him.” 1 Corinthians 8:3

So, who is known of God?

Only those who choose to love God supremely, as their “first love.” The first priority of their lives will be with Him. He only calls them His own, they are “known of him” as His remnant saints which are said to be a “little flock” (Luke 12:32).

WHO is “known of” God as opposed to those He will tell “I never knew you”? Read Matthew 7:21-23.

“Those are the most frightening and terrifying words anyone could ever hear! That is why I always ask Jesus ‘Do you know me?’ I want to be with my Lord and Savior for eternity! But I do not want to be so arrogant and prideful as to believe that God doesn’t have every right to spue me out. Or I that I am safe! I deserve hell. The only reason I have been spared is because of Jesus’ saving work for me on the cross! He redeemed me! But there are many conditions to be eternally with Jesus. We are to have a healthy fear of God knowing He has the power to determine the fate of our very soul. Matthew 10:28” Karen Cochran

“If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also (compared to how much he loves Jesus—his first love), he cannot be my disciple. 27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:26-27

This is yet another hard truth that false teachers purposely dodge, ignore. Do no such thing beloved. It will cost your eternal soul. Are you ready to surrender afresh? Here you go. Seek Him with everything within you, right this moment beloved.

CAN anyone follow Jesus without being crucified with Him? No.

A financial investor takes your money and multiplies it for your last few years in this temporal life, right? In contrast, laborers for Christ take your support and multiply it for Christ and themselves for all eternity. In Christ’s eternal kingdom – everybody wins, all the time, forever. King Jesus reigns forever!

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:19-21

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” Luke 6:38

Paul was not coveting any man’s money – “I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel.” (Acts 20:33) No! He wanted God’s people to invest in Christ’s eternal kingdom – into eternal souls – and by doing so fill their “account” in Heaven. – “Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.” (Philippians 4:17)

God gives the increase of lost souls as “For we are labourers together with God.”

“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. 8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. 9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.” 1 Corinthians 3:6-9

Caprice means a sudden and unaccountable change of mood or behavior.
