EVERY soul on earth desires peace. The “peace OF God” only comes through “peace WITH God.”

Consider:

“And the peace OF God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace WITH God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” Romans 5:1

Making Peace with God

Jesus beckons…

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

The Master beckons us to “learn of me.” In this He calls us first to “Come unto” Him and issues the promise of His “rest” to those who do – “ye shall find rest unto your souls. Ever feel the need for true “rest” deep in your soul?

DO we not seek to use our own mind power to figure out how our lives will proceed and succeed? (Proverbs 3:5-6) Are we still wrestling with those things which concern and entangle us? Jesus calls us to come to Him and to rest in Him (Matthew 11:28-30). In our toiling, the prince of peace whispers to our hearts today, calling us forth to say with Him to the Father “not my will, but thine, be done.” (Luke 22:42) Dare you hand your will over to the Father today? Will you trust Him to do His bidding and bring about His perfect will in your life? With the cross in place, the LORD guarantees a raising up which will without fail yield divine results (2 Corinthians 4:10-12). Is our will and obedience involved in this equation? Yes. Let us “fight the good fight of faith” as we “labour therefore to enter into that rest.” (1 Timothy 6:12; Hebrews 4:11)

Beloved, just how many times do we toil instead of coming to Him? Are not pride and self-sufficiency at the root of our delay in coming to Him? How much we truly forfeit when we do not take everything to God in prayer! Father forgive us! How many times we “labour and are heavy laden” with suffering and sin and delay to confess it in repentance and receive immediate forgiveness and refreshing from Him who bled to instantly omit it all and clear our conscience! LORD Jesus quicken us to “come unto” Thee who is our blessed hope, life, and our salvation!

When we “come unto” Jesus we bask in the love of “the God of all comfort” who undertakes our cause because He promised that if we “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”(2 Cor. 1:2-4; James 4:8) When we return to Him, casting off pride, unbelief, self-effort, and reliance, we are blessed to “learn of” Him, whereby we “find rest” deep in our hearts from the Savior whose “yoke is easy” and whose “burden is light.”

Just pulled this phrase up below which speaks volumes of our LORD wants His people resting in Him (Hebrews 4).

“REST ROUND ABOUT”

“And the LORD gave them REST ROUND ABOUT, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.” Joshua 21:44

“And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him REST ROUND ABOUT from all his enemies;” 2 Samuel 7:1

“And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them REST ROUND ABOUT.” 2 Chronicles 15:15

“So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him REST ROUND ABOUT.” 2 Chronicles 20:30

When we are coming to and learning of Jesus, we are learning His cross – to lay down our lives so He can raise US up for His glory! (2 Corinthians 4:10-12).

Repentance is the only way God forgives, cleanses, and refreshes. Repentance is required to touch the BLOOD of of Jesus and be saved!.

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;” Acts 3:19

Jesus is saying “I will give you rest” and do My good pleasure in your life if you will “Come unto me.” Isn’t Jesus saying in effect: “Come to Me my beloved. I love you and want to conform your life to Mine and to ease your burdens in My love and grant rest to your soul, so come to Me and let’s commune. I want to work in your life but you must choose to come to Me for this deeper work and communion to transpire. Come before Me and I will continue that good work of conforming you into my image that I begun the day I saved you.”

He said “ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price.” (1 Cor. 6:19-20) The LORD saved us for His purpose and not ours and will He not cause our lives to be “conformed to the image of his Son” and “freely give us all things” needed to accomplish this when we come to Him?

“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son…He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:29, 32

Prayer to return home, coming to to Him afresh: Father, I thank You that You are a good God. I this moment come to Thee and to Jesus Christ my LORD and Savior. Bless me to know You deeper today LORD. I love You. I confess that I have not sought You as I should and ask You to forgive that sin and all other sins I have committed against You. Cleanse me and quicken me to make amends wherever needed, where I have offended others. Father, the name of Jesus, please cause Your holy love to overflow in my life onto others. Amen.

Abiding Under the Shadow of the Almighty [podcast]

Lord, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke. 16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:  Jeremiah 15:15-16

Dwelling “in the secret place of the most High”

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2  I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Psalms 91:1-2

“In the secret place of the Most High – Spoken probably in reference to the Holy of holies. He who enters legitimately there shall be covered with the cloud of God’s glory – the protection of the all-sufficient God. This was the privilege of the high priest only, under the law: but under the new covenant all believers in Christ have boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus; and those who thus enter are safe from every evil.” Adam Clarke

“[Psalms] 91:1, 2 Jesus is the One who in a preeminent way dwelt in the secret place of the Most High, and abode under the shadow of the Almighty. There never was a life like His. He lived in absolute, unbroken fellowship with God, His Father. He never acted in self-will but did only those things that the Father directed. Though He was perfect God, He was also perfect Man, and He lived His life on earth in utter and complete dependence on God. Without equivocation He could look up and say, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in Him I will trust.” Believer’s Bible Commentary

Attend to My Words [podcast]

IF THE WORD isn’t flowing into you daily, you are falling away. Flood and fuel your heart and mind and body with the pure, the holy light of God’s Word daily and you will never famish! All darkness will be vanquished (Psalms 119:130). All who have been saved and yet aren’t in God’s Word and prayer daily – have rejected Christ, with no exception. Re-turn to the LORD prodigal. There’s no good outside of Christ the KING.

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” Psalms 119:130

ALL who are not in God’s written Word daily are not hearing from God, do not have God’s wisdom and direction, and are walking in darkness – 100%.

The feeding of Christ’s flock would integrally involve exhorting them to diligently study and walk in God’s Word themselves, daily (John 21:15-17). Isn’t this exactly what the apostle Paul told Timothy to do? Yes. He told his understudy to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

One of the ways we know who the false ministers are, is that they want people dependent on THEM, not God. So, they don’t constantly exhort the people to get into God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures, for themselves. Run.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8

“He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. … My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. 23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:4, 20-23

“Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16

“Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” Job 23:12

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16

“Over the last 5-10 years I can see where He has done this for me already, but the problem is …. it’s not enough! I want even more! One hour of study and prayer in the morning is not enough!” Christine
