State Controlled Churches by Paul Roberts

Who’s the Head of Your Church?

The prophet Jeremiah spoke to this doctrine of the Nicolaitanes very succinctly since usurping rule over the people had also occurred in his day. The priests who had turned away from obedience to God and who God no longer considered His priests, had arrogated to themselves authority over the citizens of the nation of Israel as recorded in the following scriptures:

“The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have itso: and what will ye do in the end thereof? Jeremiah 5:31

Nicolaitanes, Inc.

Again today, this Nicolaitane movement is alive and well and being promoted through the formation of non-profit corporations which are created by the State rather than Jesus and these non-profit organizations are being promoted as the only means of affording both the priests and laity tax free status under the 501.c (3) section of the IRS code. While I’m not an attorney, it would appear that as a Church in this Country you do not need to be a corporation to be tax exempt according to the Constitution. These ministers are arrogating authority to themselves over the laity through means of the legal authority conferred on them by their Corporate State Charter and their ungodly actions are being supported by the false prophets.

Rather than true elders who meet the qualifications of 1^st Timothy 3:1-7 having a free hand in preaching and teaching the word of God with equal access to the pulpit for the feeding and welfare of the flock, these qualified elders can and are being legally refused official recognition by means of the Board of Directors and Officers who initially established the non-profit organization according to the Articles of Incorporation sanctioned by the State. Men and women posing as elders, quite apart from the qualifications of 1^st Timothy 3:1-7, can however, gain access to the pulpit if they find favor with the legal board of directors. These scripturally unqualified elders can be duly recognized and legally appointed by the legal board of directors through the legal power conferred on them by the State through the Articles of Incorporation.

I was curious as to why the Church found it necessary to incorporate under the laws of the State of their incorporation since it seemed directors and officers of Corporation don’t necessarily have to meet the qualifications for an elder yet they wield legal power over the flock through the commandments of men (i. e. State Law) that cannot at this time be effectively challenged by scripture. So, I went on-line and to my surprise found an article entitled “WOE TO THE CHURCHES: Obtaining Corporation Status (501c3) is Against God” @ http://www.guymalone.com/501c3church.htm This article cited some of the following reasons for the Church to seek corporate status:

1. They think they have to.
2. They feel it gives them some benefit.
3. They think it gives them prestige.
4. Asset protection.
5. Think it’s the only way gifts are tax deductible.
6. Think it’s okay with God.
7. They have always done it that way (tradition).

Then the article asked the reader to consider that the word “church” is not meant to refer to any physical building, but refers to the worldwide body of believers in Christ. The word “church” (ecclesia in Greek – called out ones) does not refer to any organization, no matter it’s name or legal status. The author then asks the reader to keep that in mind when considering the following points:

1. The Lord is sovereign over His Churches: Jesus is the Head of the Church, not man. Paul compares the special relationship of Christ and His Church to the God given relationship of man and wife. What can be closer or more special than this? Would you bring another person into your marriage to control it with worldly principles? I hope the answer is no. Then why would you bring in a “fictitious entity” no less created by the State and man (i. e. a corporation) to run and regulate something that belongs to the Lord? The relationship with Jesus and His Church belongs to Him alone. He is the head of the Church and as such He governs it with His laws, His principles, and His directions. After all His is our King and is sovereign over His Church. To become a corporation in effect divorces the church from Christ, it’s Head and replaces it with the State.

NOTE: We, as Christians, need to realize what the courts have ruled about corporations and that a corporation has no rights, only privileges granted by the “State”. To become a corporation removes the authority of the Lord over a corporate church and put’s it under bondage to man’s law. According to man, the State is sovereign over it’s Corporations:

1.) “A corporation is a creature of the State. It is presumed to be incorporated for benefit of the public. It receives certain special privileges and franchises and holds them subject to the laws of the State and the limitation of it’s charter. It’s powers are limited by law. It can make no contract not authorized by it’s charter. It’s rights to act as a corporation are only preserved so long as it obeys the laws of it’s creation. There is a reserved right in the legislature to investigate it’s contracts and ascertain if it has exceeded it’s powers” (Hale v. Henkel, 201 U. S. 43)

2.) “[A corporation is] an artificial person or legal entity created by or under the authority of the laws of the State. An association of persons created by statute as a legal entity——–the corporation is distinct from the individuals who comprise it (shareholders)—–Such an entity subsists as a body politic under a special denomination, which is regarded in law as having a personality and existence distinct from that of it’s several members.” Black’s Law Dictionary West Publishing Company, 1991; 6^th Edition, page 340

3.) “A corporation derives it’s existence and all it’s powers from the State and, therefore, has only such powers as the State has conferred upon it. Power is used here to mean the legal capacity to execute and fulfill the objects and purposes for which the corporation was created, and the source of it’s power is the charter and the statute under which the corporation was organized.” Len Young Smith and G. Gale Roberson, Smith and Roberson’s Business Law, West Publishing Company, 1966, page 796.

NOTE #1: The objects and purposes for which a corporation, non-profit or otherwise, for which a corporation is formed are expressly stated in it’s articles of incorporation, which delineate in general language the type business activities in which the corporation proposes to engage” Smith and Roberson’s Business Law, West Publishing Company, 1966, page 789

NOTE #2: “Instances of non-profit corporations are educational institutions, athletic clubs, library clubs, fraternities, sororities, hospitals, and organizations which have exclusively a charitable purpose” Smith and Roberson’s Business Law, West Publishing Company, 1966, page 789

NOTE #3: The purpose of the Church is not “charity,” nor is it’s purpose exclusively charitable. Charity should be a function of every Church, but it is certainly not it’s purpose. Offering worship to God, evangelism to the lost, bringing the saints into the unity of the faith are among the Churches exclusive and manifold purposes.

2. Jesus Christ should be the undisputed Head of the Church – Why then Incorporate?

1.) Many people for some reason think that the Church has to. This is far from the truth on a few different levels. Here in the United States of America a church does not have to incorporate at all to be recognized as a local body of believers (Not sure why they would want recognition from the State anyway) and/or to be legitimately tax-exempt. I know some of you are thinking “Well, Romans 13 says—“Most of us have been taught that whatever the government says, goes. Wrong! If the government passes a law that interferes or contradicts one of God’s laws we are not bound to follow it. If the government wants you to receive a mark in your forehead or right hand are you going to obey? There are Biblical examples of legitimate disobedience the laws men and/or the decrees of kings such as Daniel’s disobedience to king Darius and the disobedience of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to the decree of Nebuchadnezzar.

NOTE #1: To think Christians are bound by the laws of men, when it comes to the work of the Kingdom, is just stupid. If this were the case the church in Russia, China, Middle East and other places – if they listened to Romans 13 the way it is being applied now – would never have seen growth. How about the brothers and sisters that smuggled Bibles into the old Soviet Block, China, Cuba, and others? Whose law did they break? Man’s. The local governments. They may be held accountable for their actions by men, they might even lose their lives. Guess what? God will reward them for their actions. They were doing the work of the Kingdom.

NOTE#2: Some in the Church think that the law requires a body of believers to incorporate to be a legal and lawful entity. However, under the Constitution of the United States, a body of believers does not have to incorporate to lawfully carry on Kingdom work or to be tax exempt. The Constitution expressly states: “Congress shall make no law regarding an establishment of religion, or prohibiting free exercise thereof.” (U. S. Constitution, First Amendment). Requiring a Church to incorporate would be making a law establishing a religion which is unconstitutional.

NOTE #3: Some in the Church think that incorporating is the only way a Church can become a tax exempt organization and that donations from members can be tax deductible. According to the Internal Revenue Code, “a church, it’s integrated auxiliaries, and conventions and associations of the church are excluded from taxation.” United States Code, Title 26, 508(c)(1)(A).

Section 503(c) of the Internal Revenue Code provides that churches are not required to apply for recognition of Section 501(c)(3) status in order to be exempt from federal taxation or to receive tax deductible contributions. Churches are automatically exempt from Federal Income Tax, and contributions to churches are deductible by donors and section 170.

The government has no constitutional authority over the Church. It is not allowed to violate the First Amendment protection that the constitution provides. However, the current corrupt and ungodly government has found a way around this by holding out an unbiblical advantage hoping an ignorant clergy person will take the bait and bring the church into voluntary compliance by forming a 501(c)(3) corporation, thus placing the church under the authority of the State.

Once the church has been transformed into a corporation it then becomes subject to control by federal and state governments. In truth, an incorporated church is no longer a church but merely a non-profit organization subject to total control by the government. You will be controlled on who you hire, what you can and cannot preach. Your cannot conflict with public policy nor assault the hearer’s sense of mental well-being, self-esteem, sexual orientation etc.. You can be sued. The IRS prohibits such organizations from “carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation” (26 USC 501-C-3). This prohibition extends, not only to the endorsement of a political candidate, but also any other attempts to “influence legislation,” including taking a public stand against such government-protected abominations as abortion or homosexuality. Now, the church is discovering that favors from Washington D. C. have strings attached. In this case, the string is a rope that is being used to throttle her once-powerful voice, to squeeze out her very life and, eventually, to hang her by the neck until dead!

NOTE#4: Many of the clergy use and abuse incorporation as a “means” of obtaining and maintaining absolute control over the affairs of the church. Rather than the scripture determining which men are qualified as elders to oversee the well-being of the flock of God, instead, the Articles of Incorporation of an incorporated non-profit organization allow the Board of Directors to legally determine who is a “so-called” elder and who is not. These Directors can spend money anyway they please within the confines of the Articles of Incorporations and they can limit the pulpit to only those whose message agrees with theirs. Incorporation is a means of controlling the church which arrogates decision making power away from the authority of the scripture according to the wisdom of the righteous laws of the kingdom of God to a Board of Directors according to their wisdom under the authority of the Articles of Incorporation of the State.

3. What should we do now with respect to incorporated churches?

1.) They became incorporated, become unincorporated.

2.) Talk to your pastor/minister about this important issue.

3.) Rescind your membership in an incorporated church.

4.) Don’t incorporate if you’re now unincorporated.

5.) Find an unincorporated church.

6.) Study your Bible daily.

7.) Pray for the Body of Christ.

These Nicolaitane corporations can gain new members by building attractive facilities and they can maintain their influence over the laity by false prosperity teaching, teaching faith as rights to blessings without corresponding duties, and teaching for commandments the covetousness economic doctrines of men. By means of this judicial misinterpretation of the “establishment clause” of the Constitution regarding freedom of religion the Church has been made vulnerable to the perspective of the confines of a private 501.c (3) non-profit corporate Church campus. This new perspective has reduced the scope of their stewardship regarding the words of the righteous laws of the kingdom of God from a larger publicand national responsibility to a smaller private and local Church campus responsibility under the restrictions of a 501.c (3) non-profit corporation whose Articles of Incorporation are sanctioned by the laws of the State rather than the laws of the kingdom of God. Look around in this nation called the United States and behold the results of a Christianity bridled by the laws of the State and Federal governments. Judge for yourself whether our nation is prospering or in decline spiritually, morally, financially, materially, or health-wise.

Mission Mexico Part 43

Had breakfast and coffee with brother Francisco and his lovely wife this morning. It was rich. He is a man of God’s Word for certain (Colossians 3:16). They brought a stack of Reina Valera Bibles which I am getting to our brother Juan who is going to the prison to minister next week. He will also be distributing the Spanish Bibles you sent!

“So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.” Acts 19:20

“Hi Brother Todd, Praise the Lord! The Holy Spirit is moving powerfully saving hearts and lives. Praying for the elders and for Maria as they go out in the harvest field. My heart is over flowing with gratitude to the Lord. Supplying the needs for the Mexico mission field! I loved all the pictures and videos. Thank you Brother Todd for the updates and for doing the mission work God has you doing there. This report has blessed me with Joy as I sow into the mission field for Jesus! EVERY TUESDAY IS MARKET DAY AND one of the first people who received the ministry of God’s Word today was Francisco and his wife Brenda. They are born again disciples and seeking God, studying His Word daily. Francisco took a supply of JESUS tracts and told me he has a supply of RVR (Reina Valera) Bibles he has been desiring to share with us to distribute. So we are scheduled to meet with dear brother and evangelist Juan this Saturday. Francisco is bi-lingual and so it’s going to be a blessing to see him and Juan connect and fellowship!

Francisco wants to give brother Juan lots of Spanish Bibles etc., to pass out daily and in the prison ministry he has.

We had a lengthy fellowship and Francisco said that this is exactly what he’s been praying for—the opportunity to truly minister to others and to do so with other saints. From what I could tell, seems like he’s fatigued with the church world, the modern church and it’s lukewarmness.

There’s not even a slight chance any of these connections are by accident. God is ordering the steps of His beloved people (Psalms 37:23). The LORD is hearing your prayers (Matthew 9:35-38). Your love offerings are also the fuel of what HE is doing!

Brother Francisco wanted to be added to the Spanish Whatsapp group and so he was already added and is being greeted by the others in that group.

The reason why I have prayed and sought to connect with a good fellowship here is for the Spanish language that I do not know. And also so people we contact through evangelism on the street in real time can have a pastor or minister to call who speaks Spanish.

On Thursdays, I usually get out and eat breakfast and drink a coffee and get lots of ministry catch-up type work etc. done……

This morning at my favorite local French cafe and bakery: Five-egg omelet with fresh spinach, onions, tomatoes, bread, avocado and a top shelf cappuccino …. $12.70 total, and that included a 20% tip.

We went to see and support Maria this week, twice. She as usual had run out of tracts. So she was replenished. And the smile burst out on her face again. She was a bit drooping before that And she went at it with those tracts soon as they were put in her hands. And she wanted one box more and several bags full. Juan came and got the other boxes of Spanish Bibles last week also. Boom Jesus.

Dare I add that more than half the 10,000 JESUS tracts are already out there saints!?

Does the unchanging LORD still allow persecution and for His people to be “scattered abroad”?

“And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

8 And there was great joy in that city.” Acts 8:1-8

Persecution had hit Jerusalem and Christ’s saints were prepared and “scattered abroad” – to go and preach Christ’s Gospel to the world.

Concerning people being “scattered abroad”, one source notes:

“Scattered abroad is a common biblical phrase primarily known from the King James Version (KJB) of the Bible. It describes the physical dispersion, spreading, or migration of a group of people. The concept holds both historical and theological significance, typically representing:

- Divine Judgment and Dispersion (Old Testament): In Genesis 11, God scatters humanity across the face of the earth and confuses their languages after their rebellion at the Tower of Babel. It also refers to the exile and historical dispersion (the diaspora) of the Israelites for rejecting God’s covenant.
- The Spread of the Gospel (New Testament): In the early Christian church, intense persecution in Jerusalem caused believers to scatter throughout various regions. Instead of destroying the movement, this dispersion inadvertently spread their message. For example, Acts 8:4 states: “Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.”
- Encouragement to Believers: In the New Testament, the opening of the Epistle of James (James 1:1) is famously addressed to the “twelve tribes which are scattered abroad,” offering pastoral comfort to Jewish Christians facing trials in foreign lands.”

Any nation that is even discussing whether or not there are more than 2 genders is doomed.

Does God desire to scatter abroad, to spread His people across the world?

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.” Mark 16:15-20

The LORD would never bless a nation that glorifies what He condemns. ANYONE who thinks America is or will ever be blessed without repentance…. is extremely gullible and deceived. Sodom! Ezekiel 16:49-51

A good thing to ask proud Americans who claim they are Christians:

1. “When’s the last time you personally led someone to Jesus?”

2. “How much time and how much energy do you spend trying in vain to “save America” or “Make America Great Again” compared to the time and energy you spend learning, studying, and meditating on God’s Word and doing it – as in the Great Commission?”

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21

Anyone claiming to be Christ’s and yet is not doing, is not obeying His Great Commission mandate, is not in the will of God.

PRAYER: Father in the name of Jesus, may Your people cry out to You today for the lost souls of fallen men for whom You sent Your only begotten Son to die (John 3:16-17). May we be blessed to cry out for that which most concerns You! In Jesus’ name.

Concerns about the writings of C.S. Lewis [podcast]

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalms 119:105

It’s a dangerous proposition to attempt to convey the divine doctrine, the truth, via fiction. Such an undertaking begins on skaky ground. The saints of Christ must get all their doctrine strictly from Scripture, and Holy Scripture only (Deut 4:1-10; Isaiah 34:16; John 5:39-40; 2 Tim 2:15; 3:15-17; 2 Pet 1:12-21, etc.). The writings of CS Lewis have zero divine inspiration and zero divine authority. Anyone who spends their time reading the writings of men, especially those which include very little Scripture (as in the case of Lewis), are inevitably going to be deceived. God gave us His Word to know Him and warned us that “MANY false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many” (Matthew 24:11).

Beware. CS Lewis never even claimed to be born again and yet still has a cult following.

Being born again means one “is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God…” (2 Corinthians 5:17-18) Yet Lewis asserts that “there are people in other religions who are being led by God’s secret influence to concentrate on those parts of their religion which are in agreement with Christianity, and who thus belong to Christ without knowing it.” So, the most profound divine miracle can happen to a person, they can be changed from the inside out, freely forgiven and regenerated, and not even know it? Such a statement from Lewis alone moves me to conclude that he was never born again. And this isn’t even to mention that he was at least in bed with the works-based antichrist Roman Catholic church.

Something to think about, to help you: Why would you be so strongly defending a mere man if that man and his writings didn’t mean so much to you? There seems to be a cult fiction following of Lewis involving people who seem to spend more times of a mere sinner’s fictional musings about God than they do reading about God for themselves in His own Word.

Of CS Lewis, one pastor notes problematic things in Lewis’s writings:

“(1) he was not an inerrantist; (2) he viewed the Protestant Reformation as avoidable; (3) he remained in the Church of England, despite his largely Protestant beliefs; (4) he allowed for “at least some people to be saved through imperfect representations of Christ in other religions”; (5) he gave little attention to the doctrine of atonement.” Then he says: “Lewis is not a writer to which we should turn for growth in a careful biblical understanding of Christian doctrine … There is almost no passage of Scripture on which I would turn to Lewis for exegetical illumination.”

CS Lewis stated: “I willingly believe that the damned are, in one sense, successful, rebels to the end; that the doors of hell are locked on the inside.” Lewis, “The Problem of Pain,” 538.

One minister notes of Lewis’ doctrine that “Lewis never believed in a literal hell, but instead believed hell is a state of mind one chooses to possess and become.” In other words, CS Lewis believe hell was not literal but rather a fiction.

Of CS Lewis, Rick Miesel wrote the following 15 conclusions about the beliefs of CS Lewis:

1. Lewis indicates that shortly before his death he was turning toward the Catholic Church. Lewis termed himself “very Catholic.” His prayers for the dead, belief in purgatory, and rejection of the literal resurrection of the body are serious deviations from Biblical Christianity.

2. His contention that some pagans may “belong to Christ without knowing it” is a destructive heresy…, as was his statement that “Christ fulfils both Paganism and Judaism …”

3. Lewis believed that we’re to become “gods,” an apparent affirmation of theistic evolution.

4. He also believed the Book of Job is “unhistorical” (Reflections on the Psalms, pp. 110), and that the Bible contained “error” (pp. 110, 112) and is not divinely inspired.

5. Lewis never believed in a literal hell, but instead believed hell is a state of mind one chooses to possess and become…

6. On heaven: “All the scriptural imagery (harps, crowns, gold, etc.) is, of course, a merely symbolical attempt to express the inexpressible.”

7. C.S. Lewis’s most outrageous misunderstanding was about the purpose of the death of Christ, which of course mars all subsequent propositions about the effects of the cross and salvation.

8. In his speculations on the hereafter, Lewis is to be criticized for being so extra-biblical.

9. In spite of what many believe to be brilliant exegesis on Christian apologetics (In light of the above, one wonders which of Lewis’s books these people have been reading?), there appears to have been in C.S. Lewis a seemingly irresistible attraction to the shadow world of occult fantasy — a mingling of darkness with light evident in writings apart from his apologetics.

10. Lewis’s early favorite literature included E. Nesbit’s trilogy: Five Children and It, The Phoenix and the Wishing Carpet, plus The Amulet — all occult fantasies.

11. So much was Lewis’s life steeped in fantasy that he wrote, “The central story of my life is about nothing else” (p. 17). From Nesbit and Gulliver he advanced to Longfellow’s Saga of King Olaf and fell in love with the magic and pagan myths of Norse legend. By the age of twelve, there had grown in Lewis’s mind an intense relationship with the world of fantasy and elves… Although one would expect childhood fantasies to subside after a time, in Lewis’s case they became more a delight as he grew older.

12. After advancing to preparatory school at Wyvern, Lewis gradually “ceased to be a Christian.” He became interested in the occult and embraced an attitude of pessimism about what he considered a faulty world. His taste for the occult was nurtured and grew as he became enthralled with Wagnerian operas and their Norse sagas derived from Celtic mythology.

13. It was during their long association that both Lewis and JR Tolkien developed their most prestigious “sword and sorcery” material.

13. It is argued that in presenting a blend of fantasy with analogy to Christian truth, Lewis hoped to encourage his readers to search out the truth further. This, however, was not Lewis’s intention in writing his fantasies… Many of Lewis’s characters in his fantasies depicted as “good” are in reality associated with witchcraft, pagan mythology, and the Norse mysteries.

14. One of the more pronounced confusions of good and evil is Till We Have Faces, Lewis’s retelling of the Greek myth of Cupid and Psyche, written just a few years before his death. In this work, several ungodly concepts are espoused as valid truths.

15. In fact, there has developed a cult of sorts which venerates the fantasies of Lewis along with those of other writers who do not claim to be Christians. Evidence of this is the fact that Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia is listed along with other occult writings as recommended inspirational reading by the makers of the demonically-oriented game Dungeons and Dragons!

CONCLUSION

According to Miesel, Lewis is also heretical on the depravity of man, how salvation works, being “Born Again,” and animals in heaven. He concludes,

“While there may be insights into life that are profitable to be found in the works of C.S. Lewis, we think it not wise to encourage young or untaught Christians to feed on such a presentation of so-called Christian truth. Some may be readily attracted to Lewis’s style and logic, but let us not be blinded and thus miss the plain and simple truth of Scripture.”
