PEOPLE crying out to the LORD is beyond precious and yet, we must beware of the wolves in sheep’s clothing in our midst that Jesus and His holy apostles continually warned us about – who “lie in wait to deceive” – to insert themselves, who usurp a place of interception, where they interject poison for their own self-serving agenda, to intercept the affection of the hearts of men (Ephesians 4:14; Colossians 2:18-19).
“That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” Ephesians 4:14-15
THE TEST: If it’s a move of God, sin, repentance, hell, holiness, judgment to come, Jesus Christ, and the cross He commanded we take up daily WILL BE PREACHED!
“Revival” as the word is used among church leaders, is an indu$try to them – something they concoct, fabricate, and perpetrate on the people! Beware saints. These same men are not calling men to repentance, to the cross, to be set apart holy to the LORD. Therefore their enterprises are not legitimate, are not a true move of God. They emphasize and use the fanfare to draw the gullible to their “revivals” to win them to their fraud movements and organizations and churches.
Just what are people being won into?
“Any objection to the carryings on of our present golden-calf Christianity is met with the triumphant reply, ‘But we are winning them!’ And winning them to what? To true discipleship? To cross-carrying? To self-denial? To separation from the world? To crucifixion of the flesh? To holy living? To nobility of character? To a despising of the world’s treasures? From an eye witness to the sodomy at Asbury:

The separation is a blessing (Matt 10:34) and is ordained. We are seeing those whose hearts, consciences are captive to the WORD of God and those who are in rebellion – “NOT of God” (John 8:47). This is not even close. For weeks now this type of exposure has been coming out in the open and STILL those who defended this demonic staged delusion are defending it. They are “NOT of God” according to Jesus (John 8:47).
The word “revival” appears nowhere in God’s Word. “Repent” or “Repentance” appear 72 times. Let’s get a clue. This is a message in and of itself. We don’t need man’s staged “revivals,” we need to repent before a Holy God!

It’s only the biblically illiterate who are also rebels, lawless, and refusing to seek God in HIS Word for themselves, who get gleeful when they hear that a new “Jesus” or “Bible” movie from heretics and Catholics is coming out. I am thinking, in my limited scope, that perhaps we have made “revival” out to be something we do not see in Scripture. The Word never even appears. “Revive” does, and re-vive or resurrection, re-filling with life, comes when we are crucified, dead and buried with Christ. Yet the cross is never even mentioned in what is being called “revival.” The whole industry of “revival” doesn’t seem to fit with what we see in the history of the early church. Firstly, can a group of men just decide to stage a “revival” by planning it and promoting it and saying that there’s going to be a “revival” as if men control such? And, in these “revivals” it’s all about the Holy Ghost and not Jesus. Huge red flag, right? Read John 16:13-14.
It’s never coming out of the WORD itself and it’s always about the men and their supposed mission and never about Christ. It’s all about the idol “revival.” People travel across the country to get some feeling and yet, now we know that any spirit giving people those feelings, was not the Holy Ghost at Asbury – a sodomite camp that has a satanic labyrinth on campus. It was “another spirit” which is a devil (2 Corinthians 11:2-4; Galatians 1:6-9).

Yes, we are seeing what seems the fulfillment of 2 Thessalonians 2, where the “strong delusion” is right in the midst of that which claims to be Christ’s body. No doubt Paul’s tears and anguish were over the LORD showing him that wolves were coming from within to mislead sheep away from Christ (Acts 20:29-32).

The cry echoed by a myriad of wolves is “The church needs a revival,” and yet repentance is seldom mentioned. Think: Why would they bother mentioning repentance when they never mention sin? There are 17 soul damning sins specifically cited in Galatians 5:19-21 alone. Many are gullibly buying into the “The church needs a revival” without testing who is saying this nor comparing it to the Word of God (Acts 17:10-11; 2 Timothy 2:15). The first word and divine command of the original Gospel is “Repent” (Matthew 3:2; 4:17; Acts 2:38; 3:19, etc.). So, this begs the question: WHAT are they reviving people into? WHAT are they reviving in people? WHAT are they winning people to? It certainly can’t be that people are being won to Christ when it’s not His Gospel being preached but rather “another gospel” (2 Corinthians 11:2-5; Galatians 1:6-9).
The following New Testament essential, preached by Christ and His holy apostles as an imperative, will never be heard in the vast majority of modern churches or any of these fake “revivals.”
“Bring forth therefore fruits meet for (proving, consistent with)repentance: 9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. 10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.” Matthew 3:8-10
Clear proof that true and imperative repentance will always bring forth the fruit of holiness, a set apart life.

Confessing AND forsaking our sins proves we’ve repented. Anything short of overcoming reveals the absence of true repentance and the crucified life.
Let’s cease making claims when there’s no evidence of the delusions we believe. Stop it. JUST because YOU want something to be true, DOES NOT make it true. Repent.
The Jesus Revolution is just the latest “I-want-it-to-be-true-because-i’m-too-lazy-to-read-God’s-Word-for-myself” movie deception.
Claiming that those who don’t like your latest little “Jesus” movie are pharisees seems no different than clue-less, debunked Democrats saying conservatives are “racist”….. all for not agreeing with their conclusions. Discernment is biblical, not pharisaical. It is the mandate of God for His true disciples (Matthew 7:16, 20; Acts 17:10-11; Romans 16:17-18; Jude 3-4; Revelation, etc.).
At this point it is becoming increasingly obvious that the prophesied great apostasy is coming from within professing Christianity. Read 2 Thessalonians 2. All the high staged “Christian” sources are promoting it. But does that make it legit, of God? No! (Luke 6:26.)
No great awakening or great revival is coming. The Bible foretold the great falling away. Read 2 Thessalonians and cease following mere men (Isaiah 2:22).
AND all this fanfare is for no small purpose, and the agenda is to deceive if it were possible, the very elect (Matthew 24:21-24).
We just saw, in living color, out in the open for all to see…. WHO is “of God” and who among us is “NOT of God” (John 8:47). This was a test run – and all who will bow to the antichrist were made manifest for all to see (1 Corinthians 11:19). A few will repent and the rest will remain in darkness and plunge headlong and irrevocably into the flames of eternal damnation for loving darkness rather than light, for not choosing the fear of the LORD (John 3:19-21; Proverbs 1:29).
HAVE YOU noticed the crickets? WE are now marked safe from the demonic hoards who came out of the woodwork to defend a 100% clearly proven debunked “revival.” Few if any have openly admitted they were wrong. Soul damning pride, arrogance. The LORD saw how bold they were to defend the works of His very enemies and yet say nothing against those works of darkness now that they are openly exposed.
Biblical truth: From the beginning, God ordained that His people learn of Him via HIS words and not a movie, “revival,” or a production, or anything else produced by sinful men (Deuteronomy 4:1-10; John 5:39-40; 2 Timothy 2:15, etc.). The written Word is where we have the perfect, permanent, portrait of our LORD. It’s beyond gullible to think that sinful men can depict the image and doctrine of the infinite Almighty God. God’s Word reveals that “Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” and that’s how we were given the very Word of our God which “is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21). THAT’s where so many are deceived. If they were truly saved, they’d be in the Word, and would not be falling for every wind of false doctrine coming down the pike via wolves in sheep’s clothing. True elders in Christ’s body are diligently grounding souls in the Word of God itself – so that they are healthy and growing in Christ, protected, and speaking the Word of God. Read Ephesians 4:11-15.
WITH no exception, anyone being used of God is grounding their audience in the final divine authority of God’s written Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21, etc.). All others are frauds.

What has come to light in this separation of the sheep and goats, the wheat and the tares….

ANYONE who doesn’t presently have and hold God’s written Word as the final divine authority of their life, is “NOT of God” (John 8:47). To a lady who is insisting that this scam “revival” is true, based on her own feelings, using not even one Bible verse, the following reply was given:
You are plainly resting your case upon and admitting you are trusting in your own heart and feelings and not God’s Word (Proverbs 28:26), which apparently you do not know and will be “destroyed” if you don’t repent (Hosea 4:6). Are you going to blasphemously claim that God is blessing what He calls an “abomination”? See Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1.
To those still daring to defend the works of Satan (Asbury, the Jesus Revolution, The Chosen, He Gets Us)….while claiming to be saved: Do you care what the BIBLE says? According to Jesus, such proves if we are “of God” or “NOT of God” (John 8:47). How can people possibly defend something like this – just because it makes THEM feel good? The frenzy, fanfare, and pandemonium of the fake “revivals” is all about the revival itself… and not JESUS CHRIST (Colossians 2:8-10, 18-19). The feeling, the experience, is what is promoted and magnified, never Christ Himself. This is 100% “the spirit of antichrist” – anti means in place of. Jesus is not only demoted, He’s never even mentioned in these fraud “revivals.”
Have you ever noticed that when there are fake revivals the idol is actually the revival itself and the supposed feeling people are getting and it’s never based on or grounded and centered upon the Word of God? They barely opened the Bible at Asbury and when they did it was a fake lame satanically corrupted version.

COULD IT BE possible that these fake revivals will result in a backfire on Satan and his evil human agents? One thing is for certain, people are hungry for God…. they know something is missing in their lives.
People seeking God, hungering for what is missing in their lives – JESUS – is a blessing. Yet wolves who capitalize upon, who exploit, and make merchandise of these people is diabolical! (See Matthew 21:15-17; 2 Peter 2:1-3, etc..)
AND, you and I, Christ’s disciples are to be blessed, busy with communicating His whole-counsel truth to them, showing them via the 10 Commandments how they’ve sinned against God and are in need of REPENTANCE and to RECEIVE Christ who died, was buried, and raised again from the dead to justify them (Acts 2:38; 3:19; 20:21; John 1:12; Romans 10:9-13).

Can there be TRUE reviving? YES! AND true reviving – resurrection, only comes from God when His child chooses to die the death – to be daily crucified and buried with Christ (2 Corinthians 4:10-12). God raises no one up who doesn’t choose to die downward! Any supposed “revival” that doesn’t have the cross of Jesus Christ at the center of it is absolutely false. And so anyone being led to promote or defend it is under the power of a deceiving spirit, the spirit of antichrist. Repent now. Turn to the LORD Himself for real. Lay down your life in this fleeting world and abandon yourself to the One who made you and came and died the redeeming death, was buried, was raised again from the dead, and is coming back for His own!
God says we’re fools if we believe He’s going to raise up someone who’s not dead and buried.
“Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened (resurrected, revived), except it die:”1 Corinthians 15:36
God raises up – revives – no one who isn’t dying downward! Read Romans 6 each morning this week. Die to self. Crucify the lusts of the flesh and walk with Jesus in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-24).
The LORD is not going to raise someone upward – revive them – who doesn’t repent and die to self. So, any supposed “revival” that doesn’t have the cross of Christ at the forefront is a false revival. 100%.
If there is no cross in the message, there is no Gospel. It’s a false gospel, “another gospel” (2 Corinthians 11:2-5; Galatians 1:6-9).
WHERE O WHERE is the cross in today’s modern church world? If you aren’t hearing it constantly, run for your life. You are sitting under those who are the very “enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly.”

False prophets speak about love and unity – yet it’s never verbalized by them that the only unity the true body of Christ has is with those who also rest in, embrace, live out and hold to the final divine authority of God’s written Word. All other unity is false, fleshly unity. True servants of the LORD speak about Jesus Christ and His redemption, the blood of Jesus, holiness, the cross, judgment, sin, repentance, being ready for the return of Christ, and truth. Beware.

In His prayer to the Father, Jesus makes it clear that His Word, the exclusive island of His truth, is where His saints are sanctified – where they are set apart as His special, only bride. All others are outside of His kingdom.
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17
The primary way God leads His New Testament body is by His written Word. His true disciples have no unity with those who are not born again AND presently abiding, walking by and in the record of Holy Scripture (Psalms 119:105; John 10:35; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:3-4; 12-21, etc.).
Jesus teaches us that real change and the “manifest” presence of the LORD only come to those who embrace His Word, who love, worship, and obey Christ (John 8:47; 14:21-23). These blessings don’t come from going to a supposed “revival” and praising and worshipping the LORD endlessly. There is no magic bullet in Christ’s kingdom but there is a cross to be born, “daily” (Luke 9:23-24). Out of that abiding relationship with Christ, practically walking with Him daily will be the progression of “fruit… more fruit, much fruit” produced in our lives (John 15). Time to get into the trenches and stop buying Satan’s lies. The cross, the trench equals your own death and burial and guarantees the resurrection of Christ – raising you in His glory, His grace, His power, and His victory! Read 2 Corinthians 4:10-12.

DOES GOD want to pour out His Spirit on His people? YES! (Book of Acts!) The LORD desires to pour out His Holy Ghost and yet, how do we behold Him doing that in His Word? See John 14:21-23 if you want more of Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Ghost. We know it’s not the LORD pouring out His Holy Spirit on any person, movement, or assembly where HIS WORD is not clearly honored at the forefront of it all, the groundwork of that working of His Spirit. Those who honor God honor His Word – otherwise they despise the Almighty and are antichrists.
“He that is OF GOD heareth (Honors, esteems, holds to, obeys) God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are NOT OF GOD.” John 8:47
When and every time God’s Word is not front and center, no matter what’s done, it’s “another spirit” flooding that atmosphere on the wings of the rebels who preach “another gospel” which is elevating “another Jesus” which is a demon. “Seducing spirits (demons) and doctrines of devils” are inseparably intertwined.
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;” 1 Timothy 4:1-2
Acts 17
On Mars’ Hill, the apostle Paul “preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection” (v18), and then he preached on their sin of idolatry (v29), then he preached that “God…now commandeth all men every where to repent” (v30). And he preached “judgment to come” (v31; Acts 24:25).
The result:

Beware of the Cessasionists
Beware of those counterfeits who come in on the wings of an obviously fake revival and blaspheme the LORD by taking away from His stated New Testament program – which includes His desire to fill, to baptize each and every one of His children with His Holy Ghost. Beware saints. God’s people sinned when they “limited the holy one of Israel” (Psalms 78:41).
“Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.” Psalms 78:41
We are pressing forward and not drawing back (Philippians 3:13-14; Hebrews 10:38-39).
The following is a divine command:
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” Psalms 103:2
Bible Fact/Truth: The LORD wants you full of His Holy Ghost! And no man can change that. See Holy Spirit category.
“The doctrine of Christ” is all of what the Bible says about Him and all that He and His apostles taught. Anyone who doesn’t remain in the doctrine of Christ, the whole counsel thereof, after being saved, is a hell bound rebel.
“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in (remains not in)the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.” 2 John 9
Many today have chosen to reject certain portions of God’s Word due to not liking what it says. Many today are universalists who believe God is love and yet He’s no longer going to judge and be just and deliver to hell those who die outside of Christ. These are hell bound heretics who have rejected the clear teachings of Jesus Christ. See Mark 9:43-49 for example.
People are still defending this delusion:
To a person who was calling us to cease telling the truth, shining the light of Christ into the devil’s dark and insidious intrusions into the professing body of Christ…. the following rebuke was leveled:
Jesus says we know people “BY THEIR fruits” and so who’s lying… you, or the Son of God? I’ve got my answer. Matt 7:16, 20. God is calling you to get into His Word for real and cease peddling misinformation concerning Him which would be to use His holy Name in vain. Read Matthew 23 and destroy the fairytale image you have of the Son of God. Repent now.
ANY person agreeing with the Asbury “revival” is openly declaring that they are antichrist rebels who are calling God a liar, Who says that homosexuality is an “abomination” (Leviticus 18:22).
Any person who does not choose to agree with God, with what He stated in His Word, is a lost soul who is calling the Almighty a liar.
You cannot disagree with God’s Word and still be right with God.
“A woke church is a broken church. Repent or perish! Sodom will burn! God does not accept willful sinners who will not confess what HE calls sin and repent of it. Those who condone sin are on the broad way to destruction regardless of how many hours they sing songs, raise hands, pray, FEEL good. ‘Lord Lord have not we prayed for DAYS? Have not we praised your name for weeks on end? Have not we appeared righteous outwardly? Have we not redefined revival to inclusive, diverse, and equitable? Did we not allow the minority gender identifiers to lead?’ Asbury doesn’t qualify as a Bible revival any more than an mRNA jab qualifies as a vaccine. Yet MANY are deceived by both trusting the ‘experts’ of seminaries and government institutions. Cursed be the man who trusts in man, and whose heart departs from the Lord …blind being led by the blind into the ditch of counterfeit revival.” A.R.
“The thing that is missing from all these false revivals is the message of the cross, repentance, and truly coming to JESUS. The other thing I did hear was that there were homosexuals helping to lead worship and that there was a lot of repetitive words in worship being done (those are mantra’s) and not something we should be doing.” LG
Invite the effeminate, the sodomites into the church? Well, if they attend, let them hear the pure raw Word of God which includes the call to absolute repentance. If they don’t repent, they must be turned over to Satan, removed (1 Corinthians 5). Regrettably perhaps less than 5% of church gatherings today are led by true men of God. Wolves abound just as was foretold (Matthew 7:15; 24:11; 2 Timothy 3:13; 1 John 4:1, etc.).
If you attend a “church” that is not dealing with any form of fornication the Bible way – calling it out, calling it sin, requiring repentance, you are part of a an antichrist congregation. Run.
The body of Christ is commanded not even to associate with, to not even eat with any professing Christian who is a fornicator.
“But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? IF this “revival” were truly of the LORD, why would the secular WORLD be promoting it? WHY all the promotion needed? Hmmmmm.
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1). Bad fruit – people camping out in a building. In Scripture, true moves of God always moved disciples out to the world (Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; 8:4, etc.). This is a self-serving, self-absorbed “move” and so we know it’s not of God. Lust gets – love gives. They are promoting what God calls an “abomination” (Leviticus 18:22). They have pushed Elijah Drake to the forefront. He’s an open homo whom they pushed onto the platform at Asbury so he could tell everyone he’s practicing what God calls an “abomination.” Asbury has a cursed root, bad fruit (Matthew 12:33).

“I guess it took until the Asbury outpouring for some people to realize that gay people are in their churches, their pews, their choirs, their worship teams, their prayer groups, their youth groups, their seminaries, and all that. And they’re worthy of love and dignity and care.”
And, yes, these and all sinners are entitled to hear the divine command to repent and if they don’t, they are not to be allowed to remain as leaven, a cancer to spread and destroy others! Read 1 Corinthians 5.
It seems obvious that Elijah Drake is an infiltrator and has no intention of repenting.
One writer notes:
“We once allowed a Lesbian attendance in our congregation. This lasted long enough to determine she was not there to repent, but persuade. We showed her the door.” Tim
I agree with brother Tim on this one and any disciple who has ever dealt with homos will most likely agree – they are not there to repent but rather to infiltrate, to influence others into their evil.
To those insisting that this Asbury “revival” is from God, I’ve been sharing the following:
That doesn’t make this one a true revival at all. This is not an outpouring from God at all. At the very foundations Asbury is the promotion of that which GOD calls an “abomination” (Lev 18:22). They are promoting it…. take a look at link below and also these things are all to be TESTED and not just accepted. “Quench not the Spirit” (1 Th. 5:19).“Despise not prophesyings” (1 Th. 5:20). “Prove (test) all things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21).
Stacy Strother writes:
“There is soooo much evidence now, brought to the surface by men and women of God with a strong Spirit of discernment, that is compiled against that Asbury being a true Holy Ghost invoked revival. It is not my place to judge the heart, God does that, only the fruit. A feeling is not enough. It has to be fueled by Gods Word and not by desire for pushing an agenda, as we have discovered there. If you have a friend that went and they are a Christian, if that friend knew that the Asbury revival wasconnected to Catholicism, Universalism, Ecumenism, and the LGBTQ community, would they have thought it was of God? Hopefully not, or else, they will have proven where they stand in God. The devil is deceptive.
The last days ‘world religion’ will be of such candor. ‘Christians’ will turn against Christians and give them over to the magistrates.

Spiritual Formation—A Dangerous Substitute for the Life of Christ [podcast]
Sometimes we think of spiritual formation as formation by the Holy Spirit. Once again. That’s essential. . . . But now I have to say something that may be challenging for you to think about: Spiritual formation is not all by the Holy Spirit. . . . We have to recognize that spiritual formation in us is something that is also done to us by those around us, by ourselves, and by activities which we voluntarily undertake . . .There has to be method.1—Dallas Willard
Aside from the fact that Spiritual Formation incorporates mystical practices into its infrastructure (remove the contemplative aspect and you don’t have “Spiritual Formation” anymore), Spiritual Formation is a works-based substitute for biblical Christianity. Let us explain.
When one becomes born again (“that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9-10), having given his or her life and heart over to Christ as Savior, Jesus Christ says He will come in and live in that surrendered heart:
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20)
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: (Colossians 1:27)
If the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (Romans 8:11; emphasis added)
When God, through Jesus Christ, is living in us, He begins to do a transforming work in our hearts (2 Corinthians 3:18). Not only does He change us, He also communes with us. In other words, we have fellowship with Him, and He promises never to leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).
This life of God in the believer’s heart is not something we need to conjure up through meditative practices. But if a person does not have this relationship with the Lord, he may seek out ways to feel close to God. This is where Spiritual Formation comes into play. Rather than a surrendered life to Christ (through repentance and faith), the seeking person begins practicing the spiritual disciplines (e.g., prayer, fasting, good works, etc.) with the promise that if he practices these disciplines, he will become more Christ-like.
But merely doing these acts fails to make one feel close to God—something is still missing. And thus, he begins practicing the discipline of silence (or solitude), and now in these altered states of silence, he finally feels connected to God. He now feels complete. What he does not understand is that he has substituted the indwelling of Christ in his heart for a works-based methodology that endangers his spiritual life. Dangerous because these mystical experiences he now engages in appear to be good because they make him feel close to God, but in reality he is being drawn into demonic realms no different than what happens to someone who is practicing transcendental meditation or eastern meditation. Even mystics themselves acknowledge that the contemplative realm is no different than the realm reached by occultists. To understand this more fully, please read Ray Yungen’s book A Time of Departing.
Bottom line, it is not possible to be truly Christ-like without having Christ inside of us because it is His righteousness that is able to change our hearts—we cannot do it without Him. It is His righteousness we need:
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe. (Romans 3:22)
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. (Philippians 3:9)
It is interesting to note that virtually every contemplative teacher has a common theme—they feel dry and empty and want to go “deeper” with God or “become more intimate” with God. But if we have Christ living in us, how can we go any deeper than that? How can we become more intimate than that? And if going deeper and becoming intimate were so important, why is it that none of the disciples or Jesus Himself ever told us to do this? As Larry DeBruyn states:
Why are Christians seeking a divine presence that Jesus promised would abundantly flow in them? . . . Why do they need another voice, another visitation, or another vision? Why are some people unthankfully desirous of “something more” than what God has already given to us? Why is it that some Christians, in the depth of their souls, are not seemingly at rest?2
Is There a “Good” Spiritual Formation?
One of the most common arguments we hear defending Spiritual Formation is that there is a “good” Spiritual Formation done without contemplative prayer. To that we say, we have never yet seen a Spiritual Formation program in a school or a church that doesn’t in some way point people to the contemplative mystics. It might be indirectly, but in every case, if you follow the trail, it will lead you right into the arms of Richard Foster, Dallas Willard, and other contemplative teachers.
Think about this common scenario: A Christian college decides to begin a Spiritual Formation course. The instructor has heard some negative things about Richard Foster, Henri Nouwen, and Brennan Manning, and he figures he will teach the class “good Spiritual Formation” and leave those teachers completely out. But he’s going to need a textbook. He turns to a respected institution, Dallas Theological Seminary, and finds a book written by Paul Pettit, Professor in Pastoral and Education Ministries. The book is titled Foundations of Spiritual Formation. The instructor who has found this book to use in his own class may never mention Richard Foster or Dallas Willard, but the textbook he is using does. Within the pages of Pettit’s book is Richard Foster, Philip Yancey, N.T. Wright, Dallas Willard, Thomas Aquinas, Lectio Divina, Ayn Rand, Parker Palmer, Eugene Peterson, J.P. Moreland, Klaus Issler, Bruce Demarerst, Jim Burns, Kenneth Boa and Brother Lawrence’s “practicing God’s presence.” You may not have heard of all these names, but they are all associated with the mystical contemplative prayer movement and the emerging church.
Another example of this is Donald Whitney’s book Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life. Whitney is former Associate Professor at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and currently at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. While his book does not promote contemplative mysticism, he says that Richard Foster has “done much good”3 in the area of Christian spirituality (which we believe is blatantly untrue).
Our point is that even if there is a sincere attempt to teach Spiritual Formation and stay away from the mystical side, we contend that it cannot be successfully accomplished because it will always lead back to the ones who have brought it to the church in the first place.
Spiritual formation is sweeping throughout Christianity today. It’s no wonder when the majority of Christian leaders have either endorsed the movement or given it a silent pass. For instance, in Chuck Swindoll’s book So You Want to Be Like Christ: 8 Essential Disciplines to Get You There, Swindoll favorably quotes Richard Foster and Dallas Willard. Swindoll calls Celebration of Discipline a “meaningful work”4 and Willard’s book The Spirit of the Disciplines “excellent work.”5 In chapter three, ”Silence and Solitude,” Swindoll talks about “digging for secrets . . . that will deepen our intimacy with God.”6 Quoting the contemplative poster-verse Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God,” Swindoll says the verse is a call to the “discipline of silence.”7 As other contemplative proponents have done, he has taken this verse very much out of context.
Roger Oakland sums it up:
The Spiritual Formation movement . . . teaches people that this is how they can become more intimate with God and truly hear His voice. Even Christian leaders with longstanding reputations of teaching God’s word seem to be succumbing. . . .
We are reconciled to God only through his “death” (the atonement for sin), and we are presented “holy and unblameable and unreproveable” when we belong to Him through rebirth. It has nothing to do with works, rituals, or mystical experiences. It is Christ’s life in the converted believer that transforms him.8
“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” Romans 5:10
What Christians need is not a method or program or ritual or practice that will supposedly connect them to God. What we need is to be “in Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:30) and Christ in us. And He has promised His Spirit “will guide [us] into all truth” (John 16:13).
“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:” 1 Corinthians 1:30
In Colossians 1:9, the apostle Paul tells the saints that he was praying for them that they “might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.” He was praying that they would have discernment (“spiritual understanding”). He said that God, the Father, has made us “partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light” (vs 12) and had “delivered us from the power of darkness [i.e., power of deception]” (vs. 13). But what was the key to having this wisdom and spiritual understanding and being delivered from the power of darkness? Paul tells us in that same chapter. He calls it “the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints” (vs. 26). What is that mystery? Verse 27 says: “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (emphasis added).
For those wanting to get involved with the Spiritual Formation movement (i.e., contemplative, spiritual direction), consider the “direction” you will actually be going.
And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel. (Colossians 1:21-23)
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power. (Colossians 2: 8-10)

Holiness comes by the Savior in self denial (death and burial – the cross), not by self will or effort. Surrender is the cross – “NOT my will but thine be done” (Lk. 22:42) and “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit” (Luke 23:46). We surrender to Christ by saying “Not my will but thine be done” dear Lord, by Your grace and the deliberate act of my own will I submit to the cross, the crucified life – where You alone reign supreme in this vessel (Luke 22:42; Galatians 2:20, etc.). I love You LORD Jesus! You must increase but I must decrease! (John 3:30)
Holiness, not happiness, is the divine command, the chief purpose and end of Christ’s salvation.
Of holiness, one disciple writes:
“Holiness speaks more to nature than it does conduct. Good conduct is the spontaneous byproduct of the new nature of the new creation man thru the cross and death to the old nature. We are new creatures in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17-18). To preach holiness as conduct without the new nature thru the cross understanding is legalism. Holiness is actually derived from ‘wholeness’ meaning the thorough transformation of the whole tripartite man (1 Thess 5:23). So many of these ‘holiness’ preachers are preaching nothing but conduct under law. Law arouses sinful passions and causes sin to increase and was given in order to provoke transgressions (Rom 7:5; 5:20; Gal 3:21). They are enemies of the cross!”
Holiness comes by way of the cross, not by way of the flesh. Just as sin was conquered by the cross of Christ, so sin in the life of the saint is conquered by the daily cross – the crucified life (Luke 9:23-24; Romans 6; Galatians 2:20; Colossians 3:3, etc.). It’s time to stop trying harder and to simply die deeper.

WHEN Jesus declared “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you” (John 15:16), …. was Jesus speaking here of men who “earned” and paid big money for a degree, a piece of paper from a “higher learning” institution of mere men? No. Read John 15:1-16 and you will see that Jesus alone can choose, call, prepare, and ordain a man to be fruitful in His work. Biblical Case against Seminary: Save Your Money and time – Go to the Savior, Not Seminary!
It should be noted that in God’s Word, where the specific qualifications for elders are given, not one of those descriptions includes having a degree from a higher learning institution. See 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
Seminaries originated with the catholic church—which is where the protestants got it. Sad but true. The curse of seminaries continues today. Beware saints. Seminaries are wolf factories. Any man who submits his life to a seminary has openly declared that he wants mere sinful men to train him to do God’s work instead of submitting his life to the LORD Himself—as did all the patriarchs, prophets and apostles—not one of them who was seminary trained (as we know such today). Yes the apostle Paul was formally trained BEFORE he was saved and then denounced all of it—all of his formal training after being saved and in preparation to serve the LORD. Read Philippians 3.
Let me get this straight…. You saved me LORD BUT I’m going to trust sinful men to train me at the seminary (Jeremiah 17:5).
God doesn’t send anyone to seminary. He never once sent any of the patriarchs, prophets, or apostles to seminary. “I am the LORD, I change not” (Malachi 3:6).
Many are led to believe the following lie: “I need to go to seminary if I want to be a preacher, pastor, or in the ministry.” Yes if you want to be just another false prophet, go to seminary. They are wolf factories.

In Matthew 11:25 , God says that He reveals His truth, truths to even the babes in Christ.
Notice how that “from a child” Timothy knew the “holy scriptures” and the wisdom they give us. Timothy studied and knew and could understand God’s Word as a little “child.” No degreed seminarian needed.

Upon saving you, Jesus put His Holy Spirit in you and inducted you into His school of the Holy Ghost and Word (Psalms 119:105). No one needs “Bible college” or “seminary” to read and obey God’s Word (King James Bible). Jesus told no man to “go to Bible college/seminary.” Seminarian and Bible college graduates pridefully boast of their degrees and positions, lording it over others….as if they are superior. Isn’t this where the clergy/laity rankings were furthered? Does this not go diametrically against the teaching of our LORD? Yes it does. See Matthew 20:24-28 and 23:8-12.
Think about it: Seminary trains men to lord it over others, while the preparation for ministry the LORD enacts teaches His elders to go forth as He did —to serve and not to be served (Matthew 20:24-28 and 23:8-12). The whole premise of seminaries is based on a lie—the lie of usurping authority that God never ordained you to have. This further underscores that the author of seminaries is Satan himself. See Isaiah 14:12-15.

Seminaries, seminarians are Satan’s way of controlling the people via their clergy. No group is more famous for this than the Roman religion.

Only the cross, the crucified life, can keep us from sin (Romans 6:7; 1 Corinthians 9:27; 10:12). No amount of knowledge, even the truth, can keep us from sin. The truth of the cross Jesus commanded must be applied, obeyed—or you will not walk nor be with Him (Luke 9:23-24; John 8:31-32). The crucified life is something one will rarely if ever hear in seminaries or out of the mouth of seminarians.
Saints, we must follow Jesus. That’s why we have a Bible that He provided (Luke 4:4). We must cease with our idolatrous fascination with certain schools and men who seem to have a deep understanding of things. The idolatry of mere men will not keep us from living in sin.

If you claim to be born again and yet run to men to prepare you, there should be great concern (Galatians 1:16-17). SIMPLE QUESTION: Did Jesus ever once call anyone to a “higher learning institution”? No. So, to go the way of the flesh is to depart from God’s way and thereby give oneself over to the deception of Satan himself. Jeremiah 17:4-7 … anyone with an ounce of discernment can see that the visible modern church is apostate and it can only be due to the seminarian icebergs in those pulpits that there is lukewarmness at best in the pew. I have stayed at none of these churches because, other than running through the list in Timothy or Titus, most churches require no spiritual qualifications such as: Are you born again by the Spirit of God? Have you been baptized in obedience to God’s Word.? Have you made full proof of your ministry? Are you an ambassador for Christ? Do you see the need to equip the saints for ministry? Read closely the words of Jesus recorded in John 15:16. HE ALONE can ordain you and so we do despite to the Son of God when we seek sinful man’s sham of an “ordination.”

“If God has called you to The Ministry, then God will provide the open door for that ministry. Ministry as it was first given to the Levites in the Old Testament was First a ministry UNTO THE LORD. Our modern age has forgotten that. Not all ministry toward man is pulpit in a church style. In the stated qualifications for an elder in the body of Christ, there is no mention of obtaining a degree from the world that claims to be of Christ via a “Christian” seminary (1 Timothy 3). I didn’t even hint that knowing the Word of God isn’t important YET WHO EVER SAID YOU NEED SEMINARY FOR SUCH? There’s actually no reason to waste so much time and money on going to seminary when all the books (NT/OT surveys, etc) can be bought anywhere Christian books are sold. Commentaries are readily available. Simply diligently studying the King James Bible daily is all one needs along with studying with brothers and sister in small groups. This is the stated, divined-revealed design for Christ’s New Testament church and so everything else is counterfeit (Acts 2:42; Colossians 3:16).
