DID Jesus condemn Hypocritical Judgment?
Read Matthew 7:1-5.

“Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:1-5

In other words, did Jesus condemn those who condemn others while not condemning themselves? Was Christ speaking of the merciless attitude we show towards others while being generous with mercy toward ourselves?

I want to encourage you to read and consider what Jesus’ response to John the Baptist was when he fell weak in faith while thrown in prison for speaking the truth. It’s in Luke 7. Go look it up and learn of the LORD by what His reaction was to one of His children who grew weak in faith for a moment.

“For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.” Psalms 86:5

Are you glad that God has been patient and merciful and gracious with you when you have fallen? If so, are you willing to show mercy and patience to those around you when they stumble? After all, WHY is their sin any worse than your sin in the eyes of a holy God?

“But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.” Psalms 86:15

Do you realize that you yourself are not forgiven by God if you refuse to forgive others …. and the LORD is looking at the attitudes of your heart?

MERCY: Plentifully, unsparingly release it on others – beginning in your heart attitudes – as you need it! Memorize Micah 6:8 now.

PRAYER: Father, please forgive my own sinful hardness of heart. Please reveal to me the depravity of my own heart and my utter need for Your mercy, which I am utterly undeserving of! In Jesus’ name.
