WHETHER we like it or not there WILL be those who make themselves our enemies. In fact, as we walk in the light as Jesus is in the light, our lives will draw fire from Satan via his agents (1 Peter 4:12-14; 1 John 1:7). God will work it all together for our good – to conform us to Christ’s image – just as He did in the life of Job (Job 1-2, 42; Romans 8:28-29).
As we survey in our minds the relationships Paul had, perhaps we observe seasons ….. John Mark, Silas, Barnabas, Philemon, Epaphraditus, etc. Then the attacks of many, including Alexander the coppersmith.
“Jesus said ‘They persecuted me they will persecute you’ also but to ‘count it all as joy’ when being tried because it causes patience in our lives Amen!” Brother Charles Pray.
The counterfeits among us, posing as Christ’s sheep, will attack those who obey God by preaching His Word (2 Timothy 4:2-4; Jude 3-4). Yet, attacking a mere messenger will never change the holy standard of God’s Word. The false accuser seeks to take the attention off of Christ by making it about us! See Colossians 2:18-19.
Prophetic of Christ, several times in Psalms, David noted that he was hated without due cause. “But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.” John 15:25
Those who hate you “without cause” either were never right with God OR, after being truly saved have departed from the LORD – fallen away due to refusal to truly lay down their life and abide/continue with Christ (Galatians 5:4; 1 Timothy 4:1, etc.). OSAS (once saved always saved/un-conditional eternal security) is a lie from hell.
“For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?” 1 Samuel 19:5
“And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.” Job 2:3
“For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.” Psalms 35:7
“Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.” Psalms 35:19
“They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.” Psalms 69:4
“They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.” Psalms 109:3
“Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.” Psalms 119:78
“Princes (leaders) have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.” Psalms 119:161
“Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.” Proverbs 3:30
“Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.” Proverbs 24:28
“Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.” Lamentations 3:52
“But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.” Matthew 5:22
“But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.” John 15:25
Reading Psalms 37 on a regular basis helps me re-calibrate the brevity of this life and the eternal destiny and reality of the sheep and goats (Matthew 25).
IF people are in rebellion of God, they will reject Christ’s labourers/ambassadors, no matter who He sends nor the style of their lives and ministering.
“But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, 17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
Mat 11:19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.” Matthew 11:16-19
Frank Telford writes:
“When the Lord calls a person to speak His truth they will surely face opposition. We will have to deal with people who are very hard hearted and hard headed against the truth. For those who are called according to Gods purpose He will give them an advantage. He will make us more hard headed to share the truth than they can be against it.”
“Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. 9 As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.” Ezekiel 3:8-9
