“Amen! Thank you. Encouraging podcast. And how many of us have fallen asleep praying? The only power we have is in the Spirit of Christ. Not in our flesh. It is weak and will fail. Our sinful man is incapable of resisting evil. We must abide in Christ and only through His Spirit will we receive power to pray without ceasing.” Karen Cochran

Memorize:

“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41

“26:40, 41 Returning to the disciples, He found them sleeping. Their spirits were willing; their flesh was weak. We dare not condemn them when we think of our own prayer lives; we sleep better than we pray, and our minds wander when they should be watching. How often the Lord has to say to us as He said to Peter, “Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation.” Believer’s Bible Commentary

“[the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak] The spirit is always ready but the flesh must be mortified and whipped into line with the will of God and kept in subjection (1Co_9:27; Col_3:5; Rom_8:12-13).” Dake

PERHAPS someone is crying out in desperation today ….. realizing that the flesh is so very weak. Beloved, re-turn unto the LORD your God with an honest, sincere heart and clear conscience.

“O Israel, return (turn again) unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. 2 Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.” Hosea 14:1-2

Our LORD, seated at His Father’s right hand, ever lives to make intercession for His saints on earth (Hebrews 4:14-16; 7:24-26). Christ lives to provide for you what He died to purchase.

Mercy and grace await your coming to His throne of grace!

“Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:14-16

Why mercy and grace? Mercy, forgiveness for our sins, and grace to change and empower us to future victory in the cross life for the things that once snared us and “so easily beset us” (Romans 6:14; Hebrews 12:1-3).

Jesus beckons:

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

He awaits. Jesus made it clear that “the flesh is weak” and so this is no surprise to Him. Yet the Master calls us to “watch and pray” vigilantly that the Holy Ghost might reign in us, empower us to be fruitful fields.

“LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am. 5 Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.” Psalms 39:4-5

“God forbid”

“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” Galatians 6:14

“Under Grace” –  not law!

“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” Romans 6:14

Show me a man’s prayer life, his life of prayer, and I will show you exactly who that man is.

“Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17

YOUR PRAYER: Holy Father, we both know I am weak. Yet, when I am weak then You are strong in this life – as I surrender, as I lay my life at Your holy feet. Do that work in this Your vessel that You know to be most important. In the name of Jesus Christ Father, please wash me afresh with His precious blood. Here and now I lay my life in Your holy hands. Take over now LORD. I love You! In Jesus’ name.

The LORD Lift Up His Countenance Upon Thee, and Give Thee Peace [podcast]

“For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:3-7

“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. ” Numbers 6:24-26
