Praying Biblically, Powerfully, and Effectively [podcast]

“Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.” Isaiah 7:15

Paul’s Prayer in Ephesians 1

Praying Biblically, powerfully, and effectively for others and ourselves.

The prayers of Paul are inspired by the Holy Ghost and like the whole of God’s Word, are our prayer guide, and are in full divine force waiting for God’s people to pray them! Paul prays in light of and because of our relationship with Jesus Christ and our position in Him.

  • Blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ (1:3)
  • Father – chose us, predestined and chose us to be holy and adopted us (1:4)
  • Son – redeemed us (bought us back by paying the ransom, His blood) (1:7)
  • Holy Spirit – sealed us (guaranteeing our inheritance until we acquire all of it) (1:13-14)

Paul’s Ephesians 1 Prayer

“Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
Eph 1:16  Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
Eph 1:17  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
Eph 1:18  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:19  And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Eph 1:20  Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Eph 1:21  Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
Eph 1:22  And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Eph 1:23  Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.” Ephesians 1:15-23

When you pray you are praying the will, the Word of God, the Holy Scriptures, and asking God to apply His truth to your life or the person you are praying for. When you pray the Word, you are praying the perfect will of God and putting the truth of God into action by humbly asking Him to bring it to pass in your life or the person you are lifting in prayer!

“Inheritance” appears 4 times in Ephesians

Eph_1:11  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Eph_1:14  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Eph_1:18  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Eph_5:5  For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
