The wonder of His love – that He would have mercy on me (Psalms 103:10-12; Titus 3:5-7; 1 John 4:9-10, 19).

Jesus wants us to call down FORGIVENESS on the wicked, not FIRE.

“But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. 56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” Luke 9:55-56

DO we not realize that EVERY person alive today is God’s creation, His baby?

HE made them? And even if they are not right with Him, even if they are rebels …. that doesn’t change the fact that they were and are made by Him …. otherwise they’d not exist… And yes, they are going to hell if they don’t repent. God is just. Remember that the father of the prodigal son didn’t hate him when he departed. No, instead he longed for his son to return and prepared to celebrate for such a return, even though there was no guarantee he’d return. Luke 15 contains 3 parables of Jesus, all teaching the restorative love of our God. What about Romans 5;6-8?

IF GOD weren’t so benevolent, so very merciful, I’d long ago have been in the lowest hell! Psalms 86:5, 15 will change your life! (Ephesians 3:8)

“For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.” Psalms 86:5

“But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.” Psalms 86:15

Perhaps at times, we see stories, crimes committed, that move us in anger as were the apostles of Christ in the early days when they sought Jesus to rain down fire from heaven to scorch people, souls for whom Jesus came to die and forgive.

On the cross Jesus was forsaken that we might be forgiven (Psalms 22:1; Luke 27:46).

“And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:” Luke 3:17

This brief discourse is very instructive to us as Jesus corrects and teaches His disciples in the early days.

“And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. 50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us. 51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, 52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. 53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. 54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? 55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. 56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.” Luke 9:49-56

May our LORD bless us to always be possessed with the heart posture of “Nobody needs Jesus more than I do!”

Jesus who came to save not destroy is “called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 96-7).

“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32

PRAYER: Holy Father, I come to You now, a pauper. I come to Thee dear LORD with nothing in my hand I bring but simply to Thy cross I cling. Forgive my evil heart, pride, arrogance, and depravity. No one needs You more than me Jesus, and I give You thanks afresh that it’s not by my works of righteousness but rather by Your mercy that you died, were buried, and raised again from the dead to justify sinners like me. Swept Away in the “Strong Delusion” [podcast]

God Himself personally sends a “strong delusion” to all who do not love His truth so that they WILL believe lies. He greases their pole to hell. That’s how personally He takes it when people call Him a liar by not believing His Word.

Dead, Buried, and Raised Up Daily [podcast]

The concept of a “daily cross life” with Jesus is the way of living that involves submitting ourselves to Christ daily, perpetually, and living in sacrificial service to God and His kingdom (Matthew 6:33). This is based on the Bible verse Luke 9:23, which says, “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it” (Luke 9:23-24).

In short, the cross gets you, me, out of the way so Christ can reign. Selah.

“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57

How do we walk in victory after Jesus saves us? By participating in the daily cross life.

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” Luke 9:23-24

HOW could we possibly, vainly believe we are going to overcome the sins that prevent us from eternal glory without the daily crucified life? Not going to happen.

The cross is essential—the crucified life. Read Romans 6 in prayer each morning.

Death and burial must precede resurrection. There will be no resurrection in your personal life—no divine raising you up out of sin and into victory—until you lay down your life, until you die.

The Bible says we have been FOOLS:

“Thou fool, that which thou sowest (plant) is not quickened (made alive), except it die:” 1 Corinthians 15:36

How could we have ever believed that God is going to raise us upward into His victory, out of sin, until we died? I can tell you why—it’s because we weren’t honestly studying and obeying His Word for ourself but rather following false teachers (Philippians 3:18-19).

“Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 2 Corinthians 4:10-11

“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” Romans 8:11-13

The original Gospel is a cross Gospel. Any gospel that does not have the cross front and center, is “another gospel,” a false gospel (Galatians 1:6-9). Reading Romans 6 prayerfully each morning is a blessing.

YOUR PRAYER: Holy Father, I love You and thank You for sending Your only begotten Son to die for my sins and the sins of the whole world. We are not worthy but You bought us with the very life blood of Christ, back to Yourself from a life of sin, to be Your sons and daughters. Please forgive all my sins afresh LORD. Into Your holy, mighty hands I now submit my spirit. Bless this life to be crucified with You dear LORD. In Jesus’ name, amen.
