“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.” Daniel 1:8

Like Daniel, we, as followers of Jesus today, must purpose in our hearts those things we are convicted of by the Word and Holy Spirit. Luke 21:34-36 is a great place to start.

Daniel and the 3 Hebrew children were going to need to be in utter submission to and prepared by the LORD to face and successfully overcome the obstacles that laid before them – including the burning fiery furnace and the lion’s den. God knows all – from beginning to the end and He was preparing Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego for great things. Daniel submitted to the LORD daily in prayer and a certain specific food intake – pulse and water. In the same way, in these last days, God is going to use those who are truly submitting to the cross today. They are led by the Holy Spirit and resurrection fruit, powerful exploits are going to be done by the LORD through their lives (2 Corinthians 4:10-12).

This following passage in Daniel 2 shows just how important the prep Daniel made in chapter 1 was so important. His life along with the 3 Hebrew children were on the line:

“And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain. 14 Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king’s guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:” Daniel 2:13-14

Are you being prepared?

“If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” 2 Timothy 2:21

“And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” Daniel 11:32

Just as Aaron’s rod swallowed up the rods of the sorcerers of Egypt (the world), so shall Christ’s kingdom swallow up the kingdoms of this world! (Exodus 7:12; Daniel 2:44; 7:14) Will you be a part of Christ’s eternal kingdom?

The LORD Lift Up His Countenance Upon Thee, and Give Thee Peace [podcast]

“For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:3-7

“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. ” Numbers 6:24-26
