THE REAL R.E.D. Alert

….Saint of Christ, are you in God’s Word richly and daily, being reminded of His blessed truths? (Colossians 3:16; Acts 2:42) If so, then you are to be putting His children in remembrance of these truths as we look together for His soon return. When we do this, we are considered “a good minister of Jesus Christ.”

“If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.” 1 Timothy 4:6

Where to Look

Jesus told us to “look up, and lift up your heads” when we see the signs of the end which indicates His soon return.

“And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” Luke 21:28  (have you memorized this verse yet?)

Instead of being overly preoccupied with the signs and Satan’s agents that Christ told us would be evident just before His return, we should be all the more seeking the face of the LORD, edifying, nourishing, and teaching His beloved body and also making Jesus known to the lost.

“But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” Hebrews 3:13

“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25

R.E.D. Alert – “Reading, to Exhortation, to Doctrine”

“Till I come, give attendance to READING, to EXHORTATION, to DOCTRINE. … Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” 1 Timothy 4:13, 16

  • “Reading” – we need more Bible reading.
  • “Exhortation” – we need more exhorting and daily encouraging, among the body of Christ.
  • “Doctrine” –- our whole belief system, eternity, and lifestyle is based and contingent upon embracing sound biblical truth/doctrine. To underscore the importance placed upon correct doctrine, it is interesting to observe that the word “doctrine” appears 51 times in God’s Word.

Scarcely do we find a “Christian” leader today who is getting people into God’s Word for themselves. Let me go on record to say right here that any man in leadership who is not doing everything he can to get his hearers into God’s Word for themselves, is failing and is misleading those he speaks to – perhaps wanting them to “need” him and have to patronize his ministry (come back often to hear his message).

Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, told us to “study” to show our own selves approved of God and any leader not following this pattern – of getting people into God’s Word for themselves – is a false leader (2 Timothy 2:15).

“Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.” 1 Chronicles 16:11

Look to Jesus beloved, not mere men (Hebrews 12:1-3). Don’t worry in undue fear about the signs of this last hour which includes the epidemic of false leaders. Continue to “seek the LORD and his strength” and “seek his face continually,” in “reading, “exhortation,” and “doctrine” and you will be sound in doctrine, mind, heart, and “shall be quiet from fear of evil.” (1 Timothy 4:13; Proverbs 1:33).

Loving the LORD and His Body by Exhorting them Daily

Instead of unduly looking fearfully for some red army coming from the east, we should choose to obey Christ and cultivate, nourish, and edify His beloved saints in this late hour. This is the biblical R.E.D. alert we need, not worrying about some red Communist army (China, etc.). Many who are preoccupied with the signs instead of the Savior, are going to miss out like the five foolish virgins of Christ’s parable in Matthew 25:1-3. Those five foolish virgins were shut out of the kingdom due to malnourishment – which was/is due to neglecting true, intimate, abiding fellowship with Christ, our Bridegroom.

Yes we should observe the signs and yet not be so engrossed in the signs as to waste the opportunity to obey Christ in doing the Great Commission He sent us to do – for which we shall give account.

Are you nourishing your heart daily in God’s Word?

Who will you build up in Christ today?

“Comfort One Another with THESE Words”

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

Laboring Fervently for Christ’s Body [podcast]

“Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. 13  For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.” Colossians 4:12-13

One source notes:

“Epaphras’ prayer is a powerful New Testament model of intercession found in Colossians 4:12. As the founder of the church in Colossae, Epaphras is described by the Apostle Paul as “wrestling” or “laboring earnestly” in prayer so that his congregation would stand mature, firm, and fully assured in the will of God.”

Jesus Heals the Paralytic Man who was Dropped Down to Him from the Roof

Mark 2

“1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

2  And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

3  And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

4  And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

5  When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

6  But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

7  Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

8  And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

9  Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

10  But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

11  I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

12  And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.” Mark 2:1-12

Abiding Under the Shadow of the Almighty [podcast]

Lord, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke. 16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:  Jeremiah 15:15-16

Dwelling “in the secret place of the most High”

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2  I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Psalms 91:1-2

“In the secret place of the Most High – Spoken probably in reference to the Holy of holies. He who enters legitimately there shall be covered with the cloud of God’s glory – the protection of the all-sufficient God. This was the privilege of the high priest only, under the law: but under the new covenant all believers in Christ have boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus; and those who thus enter are safe from every evil.” Adam Clarke

“[Psalms] 91:1, 2 Jesus is the One who in a preeminent way dwelt in the secret place of the Most High, and abode under the shadow of the Almighty. There never was a life like His. He lived in absolute, unbroken fellowship with God, His Father. He never acted in self-will but did only those things that the Father directed. Though He was perfect God, He was also perfect Man, and He lived His life on earth in utter and complete dependence on God. Without equivocation He could look up and say, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in Him I will trust.” Believer’s Bible Commentary
