How to Know if Your Pastor is False

Jesus is preparing a people for His return, Paul did so also, and any pastor not fervently doing so is plainly false - and simply using the people for his own self-serving purposes. Now read Ephesians 5:25-27; Colossians 1:28; 1 John 2:28-3:3; Revelation 2-3, etc.

Of wolves, Martin Banner writes: “Wolves hide the way of salvation in order to Devour the Sheep. The Sheep are commodity to them, something they can merchandise from to make more Mammon as Mammon is their god (2 Peter 2:1-3). They have rejected the Living God and His Christ!”

It’s real simple: Preachers who preach what Jesus and His apostles preached are true and those who don’t are false. Yet you will never know the difference if you are not diligently seeking God in His Word daily (2 Timothy 2:15).

Kevin Nugent writes: “What we have today is a celebrity cult gospel where the majority are following their own celebrity idol down the broad road to destruction.”

ALL you have to do to become a popular millionaire in today’s apostate church world is have a gig that includes using a few Scriptures mixed with half-truths, teaching OSAS/eternal security, and telling stories – “fables” ….. This was foretold.

“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables (stories).” 2 Timothy 4:2-4

“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-9

Concerning being ready for Christ’s return by adhering to sound doctrine and escaping “accursed” false teachers, Ray Zeitler writes: “So much pride in trying to push a failing position…OSAS/eternal security. OSAS CANNOT be reconciled with our Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God saying that there will be those that fall away (Luke 8:13; Matthew 25:1-13). If they were not with him to begin with, they cannot fall away. So yes, it is possible to loose your salvation.” Ray Zeitler

If your pastor is not teaching this most prevalent New Testament truth, he is clearly one of the “MANY false prophets” Jesus and His apostles often warned us about (Matthew 7:15; 24:11, 24; 1 John 4:1).

The return of Christ is the most prevalent teaching in all of the New Testament canon.

Without fail, men must teach not only the return of Christ but also what it takes to be ready for his return. These are 2 cardinal New Testament teachings and any leader not teaching both of these teachings, is out of the will of God and misleading their audience.

AM I overreacting about modern pastors by observing that biblically and as we look around us, most are false? OR, are some backslidden and so don’t discern this obvious contradiction correctly?

Brother Jim Borge writes: “There is a superficial readiness all around to believe anyone who talks cleverly, lovingly and earnestly, forgetting that Satan often masquerades himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). There is a wide-spread ignorance among professing Christians–every heretic who speaks well is surely believed, and anyone who doubts him is called narrow-minded and unloving. Signs of our times.”

If Jesus and His holy apostles constantly taught something that your pastor is not teaching, who do we judge to be correct and who is false?

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” Matthew 7:13-16

Are you grabbing what Christ said to us in the passage above? Summation:

  1. Many/most are going to hell for refusing to repent and believe (v13)
  2. Few will enter into eternal glory (v14)
  3. False leaders are in your midst, posing as God’s servants, leading many to hell (v15)
  4. You can discern them by the fruit they bear – IF you know the Word of truth yourself and are able to distinguish between the true and the false (v16)

“And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” Matthew 24:10-13

Did you catch the elements of Jesus’ teaching in the above passage?

  1. You will be hated and persecuted for my names’ sake (v10)
  2. There will be many false leaders and many will follow them (v11)
  3. Sin will be rampant and many who were once saved will fall away (v12)
  4. Only those who are mine who endure, abide with me to the end of their lives will be with Me eternally (v13)

When speaking of false leaders, Jesus and John the apostle used the term “MANY false prophets.” (Matthew 7:15; 1 John 4:1) There is not 1 mention in Scripture of many true prophets.

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1

Jesus’ apostle Paul did 3 things to prepare God’s people for Christ’s soon return:

1. Preach (the Word)
2. WARN (of false prophets, falling away, and heresies)
3. Teach (God’s pure Word)

“Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: 29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.” Colossians 1:28-29

Ready or not – Jesus is Coming! Whether Your Pastor Repeats this Truth All the Time or Not!

Below is one of so many examples of how we know most leaders today are false.

WHEN is the last time you heard a pastor preach this part of God’s Word? These are JESUS’ words!

WHY O WHY do the vast majority of leaders in the modern church world want this preeminent biblical truth hidden from their audiences?

Jesus Taught that You Must Be Ready – Even Though Modern Frauds Refuse to Do So! And Jesus told us exactly how to be ready and how not to be ready!

“Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; 36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. 37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. 38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. 39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. 40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.” Luke 12:35-40

Oh and this:

“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” Luke 21:34-36

If someone who is not preaching the words of Jesus isn’t false, who is? It’s real simple: Most pastors are building a business and so refuse to preach that which interferes with their ultimate goal of self-enrichment.

Rich Brown writes: “Usually, false preachers are nice, winsome, and sweet talkers. They just talk what you want to hear to flatter you. They don’t preach about anything negative in order not to offend people. If you’re not knowledgeable and grounded with God’s Word, you will get confuse and believe to what they say. If you’re not careful, you will easily deceive with their lies because they know how to manipulate people’s feelings. False preachers love promoting themselves and to be in the limelight—the center of attraction. They crave for fame, power, money and sinful sexual gratification. That’s why many of them are adulterers and fornicators. They talk about love but not the cross. They don’t seek to glorify God and exalt Christ and Him crucified but to promote themselves and be the one to idolized.”

Yes Paul said their god is their belly (self-serving carnal appetites) and they mind earthly things (Philippians 3:18-19).

Paul taught that those who die in sin will suffer the eternal “wrath of God.”

“Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.” Ephesians 5:6

The apostle Paul revealed the preparing of Christ’s true remnant church by the LORD:

“Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:25-27

What kind of people is Jesus going to soon return for?

“a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

WHAT kind of church/people is Jesus going to return for? Read Ephesians 5:25-27 again. Does this not also explode the myth of OSAS? Obviously! You cannot be a truth-seeker, a man or woman of truth and believe in OSAS. No one living in sin is going with Him, period. Sin disqualifies. See also Luke 21:34-36. We’ve all been warned over and over. Anyone who is teaching or defending OSAS is a heretic, period.

Is your pastor suffering persecution or is he a fraud?

Rich Brown writes: “Trust and confidence in a ministry hinges on respect for the minister. Few people understood this truth better than the apostle Paul. In the latter half of his second letter to the Corinthian Christians, he spells out the crucial importance of ministering in a way that fosters trust. And using his own life as an example, he gives us more than an unforgettable autobiography—he gives us a model worth emulating. From the pages of his second letter to the Corinthians, we not only learn a great deal about the qualities of his ministry, we discover the man himself. And what a man he was—a minister everyone RESPECTED and a role model to be followed. Such models are rare today!

Discerning True from False Ministers

Any man teaching OSAS/ES (once saved always saved/eternal security/perseverance of the saints) is a full blown wolf.
