GOD's not interested in us giving our substance until we've given Him our hearts (Joel 2:13). IS MY LIFE TRULY GIVEN OVER TO CHRIST? Litmus test: IF I am willing to spend hundreds of dollars monthly on rent, vehicle, electric bill, groceries, etc., and a whole lot of other things in this fleeting world and yet not willing to invest in Christ's kingdom and also my own rooting and grounding in Christ, WHAT does that say of me? What did Jesus say of such a man? Joyfully sharing out of what He's given us. God is watching (Mark 12:41-44). Are we learning to see that helping others... giving ... as our gift from God.... a privilege and opportunity? RECENTLY: Had a great conversation with sister Cassandra Shelton. We rejoiced at how though we are not coerced to give under the NT, when we worshipfully, out of utter gratitude, choose to give as "cheerful" givers .... we cannot out give the One who gives us "every good and every perfect gift." (James 1:17) ALL of God's promises are still in full effect in Christ! (2 Corinthians 1:20) Jesus teaches that if we are faithful in what understanding or substance we have (little), He will give more (Matt. 25). Read His parable of the talents! SAINTS, we cannot out give God! When we give He promises to replenish! (2 Cor. 9:6-11) HOW, WHEN did God say He is going to increase the fruits of our righteousness? Read 2 Corinthians 9:6-11. Looking at where our treasure is going out clearly reveals where our hearts are. That's what Jesus taught (Matthew 6:19-21). The poor in our midst (especially God's people) and those who oversee, equip, and feed us the Word, are God's gift to us - our opportunity to participate in His worship-filled giving plan. NEW Testament giving is our privilege: to the poor and the LORD's true ministers - 1 Cor 9:1-14; 16:1-2; Gal 6:6; 1 Tim 5:17-18. THERE is a wealth of information on this topic of giving here. Many false notions are dispelled by digging into His truth.
