The Futility of Attempting to Save Self

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” Luke 9:23-24 

“The Lord asked me one time years ago, ‘Why are you trying to save the very person I crucified in Myself at the cross?’ I started laughing because that is exactly what I was doing then! Keeping myself from pain. No, dying is NO fun, AND it is painful; as flesh beings, we HATE pain and suffering. But embracing the Cross is our ticket to LIFE IN CHRIST.

Then it wasn’t until the last 6/7 years or so I realized it is the enemy in and through our old UNCONQUERED man, known as ADAM, that fights against our Lord Jesus. We seem to forget that Jesus annihilated Adam, never to rise again! Adam is NOT going to have a makeover! Any part of us that has not died, the enemy still has a chance to fight Authority! Inner torments and conflicts are exhausting! Someone will prevail! Someone will be the LORD! Forever! For this issue of Lordship is the internal fight: WHO IS GOING TO BE LORD IN ME? – His Lordship is to be firmly established in me, in us. Jesus walks through the land of our spirits, hearts, souls, and minds as Joshua walked through Canaan, conquering His enemies, and establishing His people! And concerning our will? We had better enter “Gethsemane” daily, concluding and thus declaring, “YOUR WILL BE DONE, not my will!” alleluia! The fight is not over! Settling this Lordship issue is core to advancement in Christ!
