“The promise of the Father” is to baptize each of His willing children with His Holy Spirit.

“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:” Matthew 3:11

The Christian without the power, the baptismal measure of the Holy Ghost, is grossly limited.

“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued (clothed upon) with power from on high.” Luke 24:49

“And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. … But ye shall receive power, AFTER that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:4, 8

Of the baptism (immersion, filling, enduement) with the Holy Ghost, one writer summates the benefits as given in Scripture:

“Three things happen to the person who receives the baptism with the Holy Spirit. They receive boldness to witness, an increase in understanding of the Word of God, and they receive a new way to pray!”

My prayer for awhile now has been Dear LORD, All I want is more of Jesus!!! I never want to hear depart from me I never knew you! If we don’t love Him with all we have we will hear those words! I want all He has to give me!! All!!

This morning I read through the Holy Spirit Baptism study guide and answered the questions.

Many years ago a Lady prayed with me to receive the gift of tongues. I don’t remember much about it except I did pray in tongues after that. But I lived so much in the flesh that I stopped using it.

The last few days the Lord has been speaking to me about boldness in the Spirit. I started to pray (Acts 4:29).

Then He led me to 2 Kings 2: 9-10. Which speaks of a double portion. I began to ask God to please give me a double portion of His spirit. Not even knowing I was really praying to be baptized in His spirit.

Then last night you sent me to the Baptism in the Holy Spirit podcasts. So this morning as I went through the study guide I knew that is exactly what I have been seeking. A full measure of His Spirit!!

I prayed to Jesus to receive all of His spirit. The full measure. Luke 11:13 says Jesus wants to give us more. All we have to do is ask! So that is exactly what I did. Shortly after I began to speak in tongues and it just flowed. Hallelujah!! What perfect timing for you to send me that study guide! Thank you for listening to the Lord. Thank you for sending that Holy Spirit Baptism study guide to me last night! God’s perfect timing! “

Personally, I echo what our sister Karen shares here with us. I had been saved for about 9 months when I prayed to the LORD to help me be fully consistent in my walk with Him. God Himself personally sends a “strong delusion” to all who do not love His truth so that they WILL believe lies. He greases their pole to hell. That’s how personally He takes it when people call Him a liar by not believing His Word.

Dead, Buried, and Raised Up Daily [podcast]

The concept of a “daily cross life” with Jesus is the way of living that involves submitting ourselves to Christ daily, perpetually, and living in sacrificial service to God and His kingdom (Matthew 6:33). This is based on the Bible verse Luke 9:23, which says, “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it” (Luke 9:23-24).

In short, the cross gets you, me, out of the way so Christ can reign. Selah.

“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57

How do we walk in victory after Jesus saves us? By participating in the daily cross life.

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” Luke 9:23-24

HOW could we possibly, vainly believe we are going to overcome the sins that prevent us from eternal glory without the daily crucified life? Not going to happen.

The cross is essential—the crucified life. Read Romans 6 in prayer each morning.

Death and burial must precede resurrection. There will be no resurrection in your personal life—no divine raising you up out of sin and into victory—until you lay down your life, until you die.

The Bible says we have been FOOLS:

“Thou fool, that which thou sowest (plant) is not quickened (made alive), except it die:” 1 Corinthians 15:36

How could we have ever believed that God is going to raise us upward into His victory, out of sin, until we died? I can tell you why—it’s because we weren’t honestly studying and obeying His Word for ourself but rather following false teachers (Philippians 3:18-19).

“Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 2 Corinthians 4:10-11

“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” Romans 8:11-13

The original Gospel is a cross Gospel. Any gospel that does not have the cross front and center, is “another gospel,” a false gospel (Galatians 1:6-9). Reading Romans 6 prayerfully each morning is a blessing.

YOUR PRAYER: Holy Father, I love You and thank You for sending Your only begotten Son to die for my sins and the sins of the whole world. We are not worthy but You bought us with the very life blood of Christ, back to Yourself from a life of sin, to be Your sons and daughters. Please forgive all my sins afresh LORD. Into Your holy, mighty hands I now submit my spirit. Bless this life to be crucified with You dear LORD. In Jesus’ name, amen.
