Charity out of a Pure Heart [podcast]

“Charity out of a pure heart” 1 Timothy 1:5

1 Timothy 1:5  “Now the end of the commandment (the chief purpose for which God gave us His Word) is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:”
  • “charity out of a pure heart,”
  • “a good conscience,”
  • “faith unfeigned”

According to 1 Timothy 1:5, the reason God gave us His Word is to know Him and that we might walk with a pure heart, good, clear conscience, and pure faith.

Sound “doctrine” always leads us to more of God’s love, in the way of God because God is love.

“teach no other doctrine … 4  Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. 5 Now the end of the commandment (the chief goal) is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:” 1 Timothy 1:3, 5

Have you ever seen where certain “Christian” or religious groups are full of hatred? What does that reveal? It reveals that they are not learning sound “doctrine” which comes from God who is love! Run!

Adam Clarke wrote this about 1 Timothy 1:3-5:

“Now the end of the commandment is charity – These genealogical questions lead to strife and debate; and the dispensation of God leads to love both to God and man, through faith in Christ. These genealogical questions leave the heart under the influence of all its vile tempers and evil propensities; Faith in Jesus purifies the heart. No inquiry of this kind can add to any thing by which the guilt of sin can be taken away; but the Gospel proclaims pardon, through the blood of the Lamb, to every believing penitent. The end, aim, and design of God in giving this dispensation to the world is, that men may have an unfeigned faith, such as lays hold on Christ crucified, and produces a good conscience from a sense of the pardon received, and leads on to purity of heart; Love to God and man being the grand issue of the grace of Christ here below, and this fully preparing the soul for eternal glory. He whose soul is filled with love to God and man has a pure heart, a good conscience, and unfeigned faith. But these blessings no soul can ever acquire, but according to God’s dispensation of faith.”

When we give attendance to sound doctrine, embracing the Savior revealed through it, the love of God in our lives increases.

Grant us pure hearts holy Father, we ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.

“Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:” 1 Peter 1:22

Those not crying out to God for a clean, pure heart, are backslidden – not ready to meet Jesus – and in utter need of true repentance now, before it’s too late. Prayerfully pore over Psalms 51 today. Matthew 5:8 says: “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

Maturity in ones manhood begins to be manifested when one is honest about all things, regardless of his own personal desires and affinities. Jesus speaks of “an honest and good heart.” (Luke 8:15) All deceit must be denounced as we cry out to God to clean our hearts (Psalms 51; Matthew 5:8).

GOD’s LOVE can only emanate from our lives as we seek the face of He who “is love.” (1 John 4:7-8, 16-18)

Sin makes sad because we are made to live in worship-filled righteousness.

“Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.” Hebrews 1:9

Love to the brethren is the proof we are in Christ. Talk is cheap.

“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:18

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12 No man hath seen God at any time. IF we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.” 1 John 4:11-12

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” John 13:15
