“Love this podcast so much I listened 3 times! It made me think of Paul and Silas as they were beaten and thrown in prison. And what did they do? They prayed and sang praises to the Lord. And glorified God! There was so much joy in their hearts no amount of persecution could steal it!! Acts 16:25” Karen Cochran
Does God want Your joy to be full?
“These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” John 15:11
- “that my joy might remain in you,”
- “and that your joy might be full.”
After being born again, as we abide in vital union with Christ, His joy is going to fill and consume our lives.
“Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” Psalms 51:12
The joy of the LORD powers us through everything we are to face, even in painful seasons. The joy of the LORD which is our strength carries us, His joy is our strength.
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” Romans 14:17
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Romans 15:13
The joy of the LORD is something that is produced in the abiding disciple of Jesus and not something we conjure up. It’s in our hearts and growing as we abide in Christ (John 15).
If you desire the greater witness of Jesus, ask Him for a pure heart and to exponentially multiply His joy in you in your life.
Here Jesus speaks to His abiding servants—friends—and uses the words “your joy.” Our joy is the joy we are given by being in Him, abiding in Christ—who in His earthly days was filled with more joy than anyone, ever. Jesus was given “the oil of gladness above thy fellows” (Hebrews 1:9).
His joy was directly connected to the holy, pure heart of God. Catch this:
“Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.” Hebrews 1:9
The seat of a heart full of the love, joy, and peace of Jesus is a pure heart.
“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8
In the pure in heart shall be, shall abound the bounty of God – Love, joy, peace….
“Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10
“For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them.” Isaiah 61:7
The joy we experience and walk in now is a mere foretaste of glory divine!
“Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.” Isaiah 66:5
Concerning the suffering of His saints and their eternal outlook, future…
“Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.” Luke 6:23
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.” John 16:20
And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.” John 16:22
“Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” John 16:24
“Helpers of your joy”
“Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.” 2 Corinthians 1:24
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” 3 John 4
Walking in the truth of God will always produce “greater joy.”
The truth and joy are inseparable (Psalms 51:6).
Are you lacking the joy of the LORD in your life?
David, while seeking the LORD for a pure heart, prayed:
“Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” Psalms 51:12
When we repent before God, He will restore “the joy” of His salvation in us!
“Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.” James 4:9
Prayer: Father, in Jesus’ name, please purify this heart. Please cleanse all that does not please You LORD Jesus. Restore unto me the joy of Your salvation dear LORD. I love You dear LORD Jesus. In Jesus’ name.
